Reports published the next day say a man in his 20s was seriously injured and airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital. The outlets differ on the car’s body type and on the other adults’ injuries, so those details should be treated as reported rather than settled.
What happened on Brand Highway
The crash occurred in Muchea, north of Perth, late on Monday, 16 January 2023. 7NEWS placed it at about midnight. PerthNow reported that an RAC rescue helicopter was dispatched shortly before midnight and said the vehicle left the road before rolling several times into a paddock.
What is known about the vehicle and occupants
Both 7NEWS and PerthNow reported that eight people were in the Toyota, including three children under five. The outlets did not agree on the vehicle’s body type: 7NEWS described a people mover, while PerthNow called it a sedan. Neither report established a specific model.
Reported injuries and hospital transfers
Man in his 20s
Both outlets said a man in his 20s suffered serious injuries and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.

Both reports said the three children were taken to Joondalup Health Campus. 7NEWS described their injuries as minor and said they were taken for observation; PerthNow described their treatment as precautionary.
Other adults
The accounts differ on the other adult casualties, so their details should not be combined into a single definitive list. 7NEWS reported that two women in their 20s and a woman in her 50s were taken to Joondalup and expected to recover; it said the driver, a man in his 30s, was not injured. PerthNow reported that two females and a man in his 20s were taken to Joondalup with non-life-threatening injuries, and that one adult did not need hospital treatment.

What investigators and police said
7NEWS reported that major crash investigators were examining the cause. PerthNow reported a police appeal for witnesses and information about the Toyota’s movements before the crash. The two reports do not establish what caused the vehicle to leave the road or give a final investigation outcome.
