The Kivo Easy is a low-speed electric cycle for inexpensive urban trips, while the YZF-R2 is a 204 cc supersport motorcycle built for acceleration, sport handling and faster-road travel. Choose the Kivo when light weight, simple charging and a bicycle format matter most; choose the Yamaha when you need motorcycle performance and equipment.

Which vehicle is better for city commuting?
Choose the Kivo Easy for short, low-speed urban trips
The Kivo Easy suits neighbourhood streets, campus travel and commutes where 25 km/h is adequate. At 23 kg, it is dramatically easier to move, park and carry than a motorcycle. Its removable battery can be charged away from the vehicle, and Motovolt offers Normal, Mid and Long range configurations displayed at 45, 75 and 105 km per charge.

Those figures are manufacturer claims rather than results from a controlled back-to-back test. Motovolt’s detailed specification page gives a broader 30–105 km claimed range, reflecting different battery and configuration choices. Traffic, rider weight, terrain, assist level and weather will affect actual distance.
Choose the YZF-R2 when the commute includes faster roads
The YZF-R2 is designed around motorcycle acceleration and cornering rather than bicycle convenience. Yamaha describes its newly designed 200 cc engine, lightweight chassis and electronic controls as delivering strong acceleration and agile handling. The 204 cc engine, 149 kg chassis and sport-oriented frame make it suitable for riders who need a full-size motorcycle and want performance beyond local streets.
#1 Best Overall
- Two wheels don't just carry you forward. They remind you who you are. This Chopper motorcycle model captures that feeling—a tribute to the freedom that lives beyond the road.
- Electroplating painted parts reflect more than light. They reflect the soul of classic bikes. It’s the shine that belongs in every garage and every rider’s memory.
- The low frame and tall handlebars say one thing: this motorcycle has attitude. Every curve and angle was shaped for those who ride to stand apart, not blend in.
- Features a V-type engine with moving pistons. Turn the wheels and see the pistons move. In that motion, the spirit of the motorbike comes to life.
- It’s a gift that speaks without words. For those who hear engines like poetry and see chrome as a badge of belief, this is something worth holding onto.
Its equipment includes Yamaha’s electronic throttle (YCC-T), Yamaha Ride Control ride modes, traction control and a third-generation quickshifter. These systems add capability for enthusiastic riding, but they also bring the normal complexity, operating costs and maintenance responsibilities of a performance motorcycle.
Price, payments and legal requirements
Purchase cost
Motovolt displays the Kivo Easy at ₹31,999. The exact price relationship between Standard and Smart Plus connectivity versions and each range option should be confirmed with an authorized dealer because the displayed figure may not cover every configuration or local charge.

- Collectible quality True-to-scale detailed vehicle
- Die-cast metal body with plastic parts

- Highly-detailed die-cast precision model for collectible or play
- Detailed die-cast precision model
Autocar India reported a ₹2.30 lakh launch price for the YZF-R2 and described three variants. That is an introductory ex-showroom figure, not a universal on-road price; registration, taxes and other city-specific charges can increase the amount. Yamaha’s official shop lists a ₹10,000 booking amount, adjusted against the final quotation.
Licensing and registration
Motovolt states that the Kivo Easy requires no licence or registration under its interpretation of India’s motor-vehicle rules. That is a manufacturer position, and enforcement can depend on the vehicle’s specification and jurisdiction. Check the rules with the relevant local transport authority before riding on public roads.

The YZF-R2 is a conventional motorcycle. In India, riding it on public roads requires the applicable motorcycle licence and vehicle registration, along with compliance with other local road-vehicle requirements.
Battery, range and everyday practicality
Kivo Easy battery choices
The Kivo Easy uses removable LFP battery packs rated at 216 Wh, 432 Wh or 576 Wh. Motovolt lists 3–4 hours for charging and offers Standard and Smart Plus connectivity versions. A removable pack is useful when the parking area has no socket, but the buyer should confirm which battery capacity and charger are included in the chosen price.
Rank #4
- Die-cast vehicle
- Close to 20 highly-detailed parts are in each kit.
- Everything needed to build the models is included.
What is not comparable on paper
The available YZF-R2 specifications do not provide a verified fuel-economy or tank-range figure, so a kilometre-per-rupee or refuelling comparison would be misleading. The two vehicles also serve different trip lengths: one is a low-speed electric cycle, the other a performance motorcycle.

Performance, comfort and running expectations
Kivo Easy: light and simple
- 25 km/h maximum speed is appropriate for slower local roads, not expressways or high-speed commuting.
- Front and rear disc brakes are listed in the detailed specifications.
- Pedal-assist-oriented operation and 23 kg net weight make low-speed manoeuvring straightforward.
- Its usefulness depends on having a safe route that matches a 25 km/h vehicle.
YZF-R2: motorcycle capability
- The 204 cc single-cylinder engine is rated at 26.5 hp and 19.1 Nm in Autocar India’s launch report.
- The steel-tube diamond frame and electronic rider aids are intended for agile, controlled sport riding.
- At 149 kg, it needs motorcycle parking, lifting and riding technique rather than bicycle handling.
- Fuel, scheduled servicing, tyres, consumables and protective riding equipment are part of the ownership equation, although a service-cost comparison is not established here.
Buying and ownership checks
Before ordering a Kivo Easy
- Confirm whether the quoted ₹31,999 applies to the required range, battery capacity and connectivity version.
- Ask an authorized Motovolt dealer for a test ride and verify charging time, warranty terms and replacement-battery availability.
- Measure the route’s hills, traffic and parking conditions against a 25 km/h vehicle.
- Confirm local licensing and registration treatment in writing with the relevant authority.
Before booking a YZF-R2
- Confirm the current ex-showroom and on-road quotation for your city; the ₹2.30 lakh figure was launch pricing reported by Autocar India.
- Understand the ₹10,000 booking payment and how it is credited against the final quotation.
- Obtain the delivery timeline, variant, colour and dealership service details before paying.
- Budget for licensing, registration, protective gear, fuel and routine motorcycle maintenance.
The decision
Buy the Motovolt Kivo Easy if your priority is the lowest purchase cost, a lightweight cycle, removable-battery charging and short urban journeys. Buy the Yamaha YZF-R2 if you specifically want motorcycle acceleration, sport handling, electronic rider aids and the ability to travel on roads where a 25 km/h cycle is unsuitable.
There is no meaningful winner on a single value-for-money scale because the models solve different transport problems. Decide on the vehicle category first, then select the model that fits your route, legal obligations and budget.
What the published figures do not establish
No controlled back-to-back ride test, long-term reliability study or verified service-cost comparison is available for these two vehicles. Prices, stock, booking terms and legal requirements can change, so confirm them with the manufacturer or dealer immediately before purchase.
