There is no clear, evidence-based reliability winner across all 2024 full-size SUVs. J.D. Power’s 2024 large-SUV ratings put the Jeep Wagoneer, Chevrolet Tahoe, and GMC Yukon at 82, while a separate J.D. Power dependability study ranks the Tahoe highest in its segment. Consumer Reports, meanwhile, rates the 2024 Yukon less reliable than other vehicles from the same model year. These findings measure different things, so they should not be treated as a single head-to-head verdict.
How the 2024 full-size SUV ratings compare
J.D. Power’s 2024 large-SUV comparison lists these ratings:

These are the values listed on J.D. Power’s 2024 Tahoe page for its large-SUV ranking. J.D. Power says its ratings use VIN-verified owner data, are updated each September, and may apply previous model-year ratings until new survey data becomes available. A model-year label therefore does not necessarily mean that every rating reflects owner experience with that exact model year.
Why the Tahoe also leads a separate dependability study
J.D. Power’s 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study names the Chevrolet Tahoe the highest-ranked model in the large-SUV segment. The study is based on problems reported by owners of three-year-old vehicles; J.D. Power says more than 80,000 verified owners responded. It is a separate measure from the model-page ratings above, and it describes reported dependability over a three-year ownership window—not a guarantee that a newly purchased 2024 Tahoe will be trouble-free. What Consumer Reports says about the 2024 GMC Yukon
Consumer Reports’ subscriber-survey assessment describes the 2024 GMC Yukon as less reliable than other vehicles from the same model year. Its Yukon page also displayed three NHTSA recalls when reviewed in 2026. That count can change as recall records are updated, and the assessment is specific to the Yukon; it is not a comparison of every full-size SUV. Check the 2024 GMC Yukon reliability page and the vehicle’s current recall status before buying.
How to use these results when shopping
The ratings can help narrow a shortlist, but they do not establish a controlled winner across trims, engines, recall histories, and long-term ownership. For a specific SUV, check the evidence that applies to that vehicle:

- Confirm the exact configuration. Match the model year, trim, and powertrain when looking for owner reports or reliability information; a broad model rating does not settle differences between configurations.
- Check recalls by vehicle. Look up open recalls using the specific vehicle’s VIN, since a model-level recall count may change and does not tell you whether a particular SUV has had required work completed.
- Review service and repair records. A used SUV’s documented maintenance and repair history can tell you more about that individual vehicle than a segment-wide rating.
- Keep the methods separate. Treat J.D. Power’s model-page ratings, its three-year dependability ranking, and Consumer Reports’ same-year Yukon assessment as distinct evidence, not interchangeable scores.
Which 2024 full-size SUV is the most reliable?
If you want the strongest result from the separate J.D. Power dependability study, the Tahoe is the segment leader. If you are comparing the listed 2024 J.D. Power model-page ratings, the Wagoneer, Tahoe, and Yukon tie at 82. Consumer Reports’ less favorable same-year reliability assessment for the Yukon adds a different perspective, but does not produce a comparable ranking for every rival. The available findings therefore support a shortlist, not one definitive reliability winner.
