The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the more powerful answer if you mean the V8 engine alone: its twin-turbo 5.5-liter LT7 produces 1,064 hp without electric assistance.
How this ranking works
This list uses the broadest practical definition of a road-legal passenger car: coupes, sedans, convertibles, supercars, and performance SUVs are included. Trucks, race cars, track-only cars, aftermarket conversions, and dealer-installed power packages are excluded.

Hybrid vehicles are ranked by the manufacturer’s claimed total system output. Non-hybrid vehicles are ranked by the published horsepower of their V8 engine. That distinction matters: an 805-hp hybrid Mercedes-AMG does not have an 805-hp V8, while the Corvette ZR1’s 1,064-hp figure comes from its twin-turbocharged V8 alone.

The figures below are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Acceleration numbers also use different standards: some makers quote 0–60 mph, while others quote 0–62 mph. Horsepower units vary as well. PS, CV, hp, and bhp are closely related but not perfectly interchangeable, so one-horsepower gaps should not be treated as meaningful performance differences.

1. Aston Martin Valhalla: 1,079 hp combined
The Aston Martin Valhalla is the horsepower winner if total factory drivetrain output is the measure. Its mid-engine powertrain combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with three electric motors for a manufacturer-claimed 1,079 hp and 1,100 Nm of combined torque.
That number is higher than the Corvette ZR1’s 1,064 hp, but the comparison needs context. The Valhalla’s figure includes electric assistance; it is not the output of the V8 by itself. The Chevrolet’s figure is engine output from its internal-combustion powertrain.
The Valhalla is also not a normal-volume showroom car. Aston Martin describes production as limited to 999 units. Customer deliveries were scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, with company material later confirming production and deliveries beginning during the fourth quarter. In practical terms, buying one new means securing an allocation or customer order rather than walking into an ordinary dealer and choosing from stock.
Anyone considering one should check current availability through Aston Martin’s official channels or an authorized dealer before treating the published 2025 timing as a guaranteed purchase opportunity.
2. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: 1,064 hp
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the strongest answer to a different question: which new V8 car has the most powerful V8 engine? Its twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 produces 1,064 hp without counting electric-motor output.
That makes the ZR1 the highest-output non-hybrid vehicle in this comparison and the most powerful production Corvette powered by an internal-combustion engine. It also makes the ZR1 unusual in the current market: it delivers hypercar-level headline power through a conventional V8 drivetrain rather than a hybrid system.
The ZR1 is a mid-engine supercar, but it remains part of Chevrolet’s Corvette range rather than a limited 999-unit exotic. That does not mean every dealer will have one available. Production timing, allocation, market, specification, and dealer inventory still determine whether a buyer can actually place an order or find a new example.
3. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE: 805 hp combined
The U.S.-market 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE combines a handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with a rear electric drive unit and a high-performance battery. Mercedes-Benz quotes 805 hp and 1,047 lb-ft of combined torque.

It is a very different kind of high-output car from the Valhalla and ZR1. The AMG is a substantial luxury performance coupe designed to combine everyday usability with extreme straight-line capability. Its claimed top speed is 199 mph.
Again, 805 hp is system output. It should not be described as the rating of the 4.0-liter V8 alone. The electric motor is a major contributor to the number, and the car’s performance can also depend on battery charge and the operating mode selected.
4. Lamborghini Urus SE: 789 hp combined
The Lamborghini Urus SE is the most powerful SUV on this list. Its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 works with a 25-kWh battery and electric motor to produce 800 CV, equivalent to a quoted 789 hp.

Those numbers make the Urus SE a serious performance vehicle even though its SUV shape and higher seating position put it in a different category from the mid-engine supercars.
Its 789-hp headline is a combined hybrid-system figure. The V8 alone does not produce 789 hp. The plug-in-hybrid hardware adds capability but also brings additional system complexity and weight, which is part of the trade-off for buyers who want SUV practicality alongside supercar-level output.
5. Bentley Continental GT Speed: 771 bhp combined
The fourth-generation Bentley Continental GT Speed uses a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor. Bentley quotes 782 PS, or 771 bhp, and 1,000 Nm of combined torque.
This is a grand tourer rather than a stripped-back track car. Its manufacturer-claimed figures include 3.1 seconds from 0–60 mph and a 208-mph top speed, giving the Continental GT Speed the highest quoted top speed in this group.

6. Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid: 771 hp combined
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid ties the Bentley on published system output at 771 hp. It combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 591 hp with an electric motor rated at 187 hp.
Porsche quotes 737 lb-ft of combined torque, 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds when equipped with Sport Chrono, and a 202-mph top track speed. The Panamera is a four-door performance car, making it one of the most powerful practical passenger vehicles in the ranking.
The engine and motor ratings do not add up neatly to the system figure because a hybrid powertrain’s maximum combined output is governed by battery, inverter, transmission, thermal, and software limits. System horsepower is therefore the relevant number for comparing it with other hybrids.
7. BMW XM Label: 738 hp combined
The BMW XM Label is a plug-in-hybrid performance SUV with a 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 and an electric motor. BMW USA lists 738 hp and 738 lb-ft of total system output, delivered through all-wheel drive.
BMW estimates 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The XM Label is not as powerful as the Urus SE, but it offers a different interpretation of the high-output SUV: a large, luxurious, all-wheel-drive vehicle with plug-in-hybrid capability and substantial electric assistance.
As with the other hybrids, the 738-hp figure is total system power rather than the output of the V8 alone.
8. Aston Martin DB12: 671 bhp
The Aston Martin DB12 is the highest-output conventional Aston Martin in this list. Its hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 680 PS, or 671 bhp, and 800 Nm of torque.
Unlike the Valhalla, the DB12 does not use a hybrid motor to reach its published output. It is a luxury grand tourer intended for fast, long-distance road travel rather than a mid-engine supercar experience. The DB12 Volante convertible uses the same headline V8 output.

Its nominal 671-bhp rating places it just ahead of the Corvette Z06’s 670 hp in the table. Because the cars use different horsepower conventions and the gap is only one published unit, this should be treated as a statistical ordering rather than a meaningful real-world advantage.
9. Chevrolet Corvette Z06: 670 hp
The Corvette Z06 uses Chevrolet’s naturally aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 V8. It produces 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, making it the highest-output naturally aspirated V8 car in this ranking.
Chevrolet quotes 0–60 mph in 2.6 seconds. The Z06 sits below the twin-turbo ZR1 in outright power, but its naturally aspirated engine gives it a distinct identity among new V8 sports cars. It is also substantially less dependent on hybrid-system output than the six entries above it.

The Z06 is the naturally aspirated choice; the ZR1 adds twin turbochargers and reaches a radically higher engine-output figure.
10. Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing: 668 hp
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the most powerful sedan in the non-hybrid portion of this list. Its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 produces 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque.
It is also one of the rare high-output V8 cars still offered with a manual transmission. Cadillac pairs the engine with either a six-speed manual or an available 10-speed automatic. That choice gives the Blackwing a different appeal from the dual-clutch, automatic, and hybrid performance cars ahead of it.
The Blackwing is an especially notable option for a buyer who wants a usable four-door car, a large-displacement V8, and direct driver involvement without moving into a limited-production exotic.

That makes the Dark Horse the least exotic and most mainstream-oriented choice in this comparison, not the least capable performance car. It offers factory V8 power in a familiar muscle-car package without requiring a limited supercar allocation.
Ford Performance’s separately sold 810-hp supercharger kit for certain 2024–2026 Mustangs does not change this ranking. It is an accessory conversion, not the standard output of a factory 2025 Mustang Dark Horse, so it is excluded under the rules used here.
What the numbers really mean
Hybrid power is not the same as V8 power
The Valhalla, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE, Urus SE, Continental GT Speed, Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, and BMW XM Label all use hybrid assistance. Their rankings reflect the power available from the complete factory drivetrain.

The Corvette ZR1, Corvette Z06, Aston Martin DB12, Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, and Mustang Dark Horse are ranked by engine output because their published figures are V8 ratings rather than combined hybrid-system ratings. Comparing the two groups is useful for answering which car has the most total factory power, but it is not a laboratory comparison of V8 engines.
Horsepower does not decide every performance result
Acceleration also depends on vehicle mass, traction, gearing, launch programming, tires, battery state, temperature, and test conditions. A lower-output car can be quicker in a particular situation, while a higher-output hybrid may not deliver its maximum system rating continuously if its battery or thermal systems are limiting output.
The quoted top speeds and acceleration times are included for context, but they should not be read as independent test results. They are manufacturer claims and use different measurement conventions.
Best choice by buyer priority
- Highest total factory output: Aston Martin Valhalla, with 1,079 hp combined. Its 999-unit production limit makes allocation the central buying issue.
- Most powerful V8 engine: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, with 1,064 hp from its twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8.
- Most powerful non-hybrid car: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. It is the clear leader among the combustion-engine-only entries.
- Most powerful SUV: Lamborghini Urus SE, at 789 hp combined. The BMW XM Label follows at 738 hp.
- Most powerful four-door performance car: Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, at 771 hp combined. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the stronger non-hybrid sedan choice at 668 hp.
- Best naturally aspirated option: Chevrolet Corvette Z06, with 670 hp from its 5.5-liter LT6 V8.
- Best manual-transmission option: Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, which retains a six-speed manual alongside its available 10-speed automatic.
- Most mainstream performance-car option: Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Its 500 hp is modest beside the supercars, but it is the most conventional route into a new factory V8 performance car in this group.
- Most powerful grand tourer: Bentley Continental GT Speed by published system output, with the Aston Martin DB12 providing the higher-output non-hybrid alternative among the traditional luxury GTs listed here.
What to check before ordering
- Confirm the model year and market. A car described as a 2025 model may be sold, ordered, delivered, or produced on different schedules depending on country.
- Ask whether the quoted output is engine or system power. This prevents an 805-hp hybrid rating from being mistaken for an 805-hp V8 rating.
- Verify the exact configuration. Transmission, body style, performance packages, battery equipment, and regional specifications can affect the vehicle you are actually ordering.
- Check allocation and inventory before making plans. This is essential for the Valhalla and relevant to other low-volume or high-demand performance models. A dealer’s advertised car may not represent an immediately available customer order.
- Budget for appropriate training and use. Cars producing 668 hp or more can reach speeds and acceleration levels that are difficult to explore responsibly on public roads. A performance driving school or properly managed track day is a safer place to learn the car’s limits than public-road experimentation.
