There was no official ranking of the “most anticipated” motorcycles of 2024. The standout announcements instead span new models, substantial updates and returning bikes across sport, naked, adventure, off-road, scooter and cruiser categories. Here are the notable launches and model-year announcements, with their market and status made clear.
What “most anticipated” means here
This is an editorial selection of notable manufacturer announcements, not a popularity poll or a ranking. The official releases do not provide a shared measure of anticipation, and their marketing claims are not independent tests of quality or performance. Coverage is selective, not a complete list of every notable motorcycle worldwide.
It also matters whether a motorcycle is new, updated or returning. The announcements below use those distinctions rather than treating every model-year entry as a new launch. Availability, specifications, equipment and timing may differ by country.
Notable 2024 motorcycle announcements
Honda CB1000 Hornet and CBR600RR: European 24YM announcement
At EICMA on November 7, 2023, Honda presented its European 24YM lineup around four new model names, upgrades to four existing models and E-Clutch technology. The release highlighted the flagship naked CB1000 Hornet and the return of the CBR600RR. It was a range announcement, not evidence that either bike ranked above other motorcycles in anticipation. Honda president and representative director Toshihiro Mibe said the company’s new Hornet and Transalp had helped grow its sales volume by “over 30%” in 2023. That is Honda’s own sales statement in the release, not an independently verified industry statistic.
Yamaha MT-09, MT-09 SP and XSR900 GP: European range
Yamaha’s European 2024 announcement featured restyled, higher-specification MT-09 and MT-09 SP models, as well as the new XSR900 GP, styled to evoke GP racers of the 1980s and 1990s. BMW F 800 GS, F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure: U.S. models
BMW Motorrad USA announced the three 2024 models on January 23, 2024. BMW described the F 900 GS as brand-new, with more off-road emphasis, lower weight than its predecessor, more power and additional equipment. The other two are the F 800 GS and F 900 GS Adventure. BMW Motorrad USA’s announcement
The release listed U.S. MSRPs of $10,495 for the F 800 GS, $13,495 for the F 900 GS and $14,195 for the F 900 GS Adventure, each plus destination. Those were announcement prices, not current quotes. BMW estimated an early Q2 2024 U.S. market launch; that estimate is not confirmation of present-day availability.

Kawasaki KX450 and KX450X: off-road competition bikes
Kawasaki announced the all-new 2024 KX450 motocross motorcycle and KX450X cross-country version on September 25, 2023. These are competition-focused off-road motorcycles, not automatically road-legal models. Anyone considering road use should check the specific bike’s homologation and local rules. Harley-Davidson: returning 2024 models, with more announcements to come
Harley-Davidson’s cited 2024 announcement covered returning motorcycles. The company said limited-production CVO models and other new models would be unveiled separately, so the returning-model announcement should not be read as a complete list of its 2024 motorcycles. Ducati: a scheduled World Première rollout
Ducati scheduled six World Première presentations from July 27 to November 7, 2023, with new 2024 models revealed during that series. The schedule shows a planned rollout; by itself, it does not establish which bike was more anticipated or provide comparable model specifications. Ducati World Première 2024 schedule
American Honda: returning U.S. models
Separately from its European EICMA reveal, American Honda said on January 23, 2024 that 11 returning models represented six categories in its U.S. lineup. The release named the CBR1000RR, CBR600RR and CB1000R sport models; the SCL500 and PCX; and the CRF300L, CRF300LS, CRF300L Rally, XR650L and XR150L dual-sports. How to compare the motorcycles fairly
These announcements do not provide a complete, comparable specification set across brands. Compare bikes within their intended category and market, and confirm details for the exact regional version before making a buying decision.

- Start with intended use: a road-going naked or sport bike, an adventure motorcycle, a scooter and an off-road competition bike answer different needs. Check road legality rather than assuming it from the model name.
