The Mosfab Cosmos is a premium Australian off-road camper built as a mobile base station: a storage-box body carries a rooftop tent, kitchen, refrigeration and off-grid systems rather than a conventional enclosed caravan interior. It is aimed at travelers who want organized equipment and camp comforts for remote trips, but its high price, 1,740 kg reported tare weight and canvas-based sleeping setup make it a specialized choice—not a fit for every tow vehicle or camping style.
What kind of camper is the Mosfab Cosmos?
The Cosmos uses a compact storage-box base to carry camping equipment and systems, with a rooftop tent and awning providing the accommodation. CaravanCampingSales’ 2 April 2026 review describes it as a base-station-style off-road camper, distinct from pod campers and designs with an integrated fold-out tent. MOSFAB says the project was developed in Melbourne around feedback from outback explorers and off-road specialists; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, not independent proof of durability or comparative performance. The design may suit travelers who prefer a compact towable base with equipment organized into compartments, rather than a caravan-style interior. The tent and other canvas elements are central to the accommodation, so buyers seeking hard-sided sleeping space should compare formats before deciding.
What equipment and specifications have been reported?
Specifications differ between MOSFAB’s July 2025 Early Bird Program contract and the configuration described by CaravanCampingSales in April 2026. They should be treated as dated snapshots, not as a confirmed final production specification.

The water figures are not interchangeable: the 2025 contract says 120 L usable storage, while the 2026 review lists two 70 L tanks. Ask MOSFAB which capacity and usable volume apply to the particular build being quoted. Likewise, verify all specifications against the final build sheet before purchase.
Construction and terrain-related features
The April 2026 review reports welded aluminium body panels, dust- and water-sealing measures, and storage compartments tested to an IP67 rating. It also describes Gusto dust-reduction airflow, disc brakes, Icon wheels and Mickey Thompson tires. These are reported design details and test descriptions; they do not establish independent long-term reliability or prove performance in every terrain and weather condition.

The 2025 contract lists electric/hydraulic brakes, a steel tray and aluminium lower boxes, alongside the suspension and chassis. Its optional accessories include MAXTRAX Xtreme and MKII recovery tracks, chairs, a camping table, portable toilet, utensils and jerry cans. Optional equipment should not be assumed to be included in a quoted base or fully loaded build.
Kitchen, shelter and setup
The review describes a slide-out kitchen with induction cooking, pantry and coffee machine, separate fridge and freezer units, diesel hydronic heating, rooftop tent, awning, external shower tent and illuminated steps. MOSFAB quotes a three-minute setup time. Reviewer Chris Fincham said that estimate seemed plausible after observing setup during the review photo shoot; it is an attributed observation, not a guaranteed setup time for every owner or campsite.

The available figures refer to different dates and contexts. They do not establish the Cosmos’s retail price in October 2026.

Is the Cosmos available, and when could it be delivered?
MOSFAB’s July 2025 contract forecast production starting no later than April 2026, with estimated delivery from May 2026 through January 2027 depending on build allocation. It warned that supply-chain factors could affect timing. That was a forecast, not confirmation that production or deliveries happened on schedule.
CaravanCampingSales reported on 2 April 2026 that the first production run was being prepared for late 2026 or early 2027 and that the final production version had yet to break cover. The sources do not establish current inventory, finalized production specifications or an available delivery slot. Ask MOSFAB for the status of the production run, the specific build allocation, a written delivery estimate and the terms that apply if timing changes.

Who is the Cosmos best suited to?
The Cosmos is worth considering for serious off-road travelers who want a high-specification base camp, substantial organized storage and integrated power and camp systems. Its kitchen, refrigeration and heating may reduce the amount of loose equipment an owner needs to arrange, while the rooftop tent and awning preserve a compact towable format.
The trade-offs noted in the 2026 review include premium cost, relatively high weight compared with lighter pod campers and extensive use of canvas accommodation. Buyers should check the tow vehicle’s capacity and the camper’s payload—not tare alone—against the actual loaded configuration. They should also decide whether a rooftop tent and annexe meet their weather, sleeping and accessibility needs.
What to check before comparing or buying
- Final specification: Request the production build sheet, including dimensions, tare, payload, water capacity, battery and solar configuration, and included accessories.
- Towing suitability: Confirm the loaded trailer and tow vehicle meet legal limits for the buyer’s vehicle, tow rating and intended trip.
- Camping format: Compare rooftop-tent and canvas accommodation with the enclosed or integrated layouts of other campers you are considering.
- Price and inclusions: Separate standard equipment from options, and confirm the current total price and payment terms in writing.
- Delivery and support: Ask for the current allocation and delivery estimate, warranty terms, servicing arrangements and the remedy if the promised schedule changes.
CaravanCampingSales names the Track Trailer Tvan, Bruder EXP-4, BRS Sherpa, Ultimate, Patriot X1, Adventure Kings MT2, Off Trax and Patriot X2-N among adjacent compact camper categories. Their formats and specifications differ, so a meaningful comparison requires current, like-for-like information rather than a model-name ranking.
