That works out to about 60.2%; Toyota rounded its reported mix to 61%.
What period and sales does the figure cover?
The figure covers Toyota division’s U.S. sales from July 1 through September 30, 2026—the third quarter, as reported by Toyota Motor North America on October 1. “The past three months” is shorthand for that quarter, not a rolling three-month period ending October 2. It describes new-vehicle sales, not the share of Toyota vehicles already on the road. Toyota’s Q3 2026 U.S. sales report provides the underlying totals.

What does Toyota mean by “electrified”?
In Toyota’s sales reporting, “electrified” is an umbrella category that includes hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrids, battery-electric vehicles and fuel-cell vehicles. It does not mean that all vehicles in the category run solely on battery power. In particular, the 60%-plus figure is not Toyota’s battery-electric vehicle sales share.

How did Toyota’s electrified share compare with last year?
Toyota division sold 325,227 electrified vehicles in Q3 2026, up 29.2% from 251,821 in Q3 2025. Total Toyota-division sales were 540,167 in 2026, compared with 537,528 a year earlier—an increase of about 0.5%. Using those reported counts, the electrified share rose from about 46.8% in Q3 2025 to about 60.2% in Q3 2026.
The percentages of about 46.8% and 60.2% are arithmetic calculations from Toyota’s published counts; Toyota’s 2026 release summarizes the current mix as 61%. The prior-year release reported 251,821 electrified Toyota-division vehicles and 537,528 total Toyota-division sales. Toyota’s Q3 2025 U.S. sales report gives the earlier figures.

Why is Toyota division’s figure different from the Toyota-and-Lexus figure?
Toyota division and Lexus are separate divisions in Toyota Motor North America’s reporting. Combining their sales changes both the numerator and denominator, so the result is not interchangeable with Toyota division’s share.

The combined Toyota-and-Lexus share also increased year over year, from 44.9% in Q3 2025 to 57.4% in Q3 2026. Those combined figures should not be substituted for the Toyota-division headline.

What else does Toyota say about its electrified lineup?
Toyota Motor North America said 32 electrified vehicle options were available at Toyota and Lexus dealerships. That is the company’s count of options across both brands, not an independently verified count or a breakdown of Q3 sales by powertrain.
Andrew Gilleland, Toyota Motor North America senior vice president of the Automotive Operations Group, described the result as evidence that “customers want choices.” That is Toyota’s framing of its multi-path strategy, not a separate measure of customer preferences.
