Mitsubishi has a new three-row SUV, but the available evidence does not show it as a vehicle American families can buy. The DST concept’s production successor was reported as the Destinator in July 2025, with an ASEAN-focused rollout; that report said the model was not offered in the United States at the time. U.S. shoppers looking for a Mitsubishi with three rows should look instead at the separate 2026 Outlander.
Is the Mitsubishi Destinator coming to the U.S.?
Mitsubishi’s October 24, 2024 announcement introduced the DST as a midsize, monocoque three-row concept intended to seat seven. The company said its production vehicle would be rolled out primarily in ASEAN markets, including the Philippines, during fiscal 2025—April 2025 through March 2026. That plan did not announce a U.S. launch.
A July 24, 2025 report identified the production successor as the Destinator and said it was not offered in the United States at that time. The sources available here do not establish a later U.S. launch or current U.S. availability. For American buyers, treat the Destinator as a model to watch, not a vehicle confirmed for local purchase.
Mitsubishi’s DST concept announcement describes the original concept, while the July 2025 Destinator report supplies the production name and U.S. availability statement.

What is known about the Destinator?
The official release’s seven-seat positioning and five drive modes—Wet, Tarmac, Normal, Gravel, and Mud—belong to the DST concept. Mitsubishi also described that concept as front-wheel drive. These details should not automatically be read as final Destinator specifications.
The July 2025 report attributes a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 161 horsepower, 184 lb-ft of torque, a continuously variable transmission, front-wheel drive, and seven seats to the Destinator. These are reported specifications, not independently verified U.S.-market specifications; the sources cited here do not provide an official production-specification sheet for an American version.

Is the Destinator the same as the Outlander?
No. The Destinator is the reported production successor to the DST concept. The Outlander is a separate Mitsubishi model listed on Mitsubishi Motors North America’s U.S. site. The manufacturer’s 2026 Outlander page offers U.S. shoppers build, inventory, offers, and test-drive paths.
Mitsubishi listed a starting MSRP of $29,995 for the 2026 Outlander on that page at the time represented by the available source. The manufacturer notes exclusions and availability conditions, so check the live page and local dealer for current pricing and inventory.

Which Mitsubishi should American families consider?
If you need a Mitsubishi SUV in the U.S. now, the Outlander is the model to investigate—not the Destinator. But a three-row seat count alone does not establish that an SUV will suit a particular family. Before choosing, verify the details that matter in your household:
- Third-row fit: Check whether the intended passengers can sit comfortably in the back.
- Cargo with all seats in use: See whether the remaining luggage space works for your routine.
- Child-seat fit and tether access: Confirm the exact seat positions and installation points you need.
- Safety information: Look for ratings and equipment that apply to the precise model year and market.
- Running costs and capability: Compare fuel economy, drivetrain, warranty, and transaction price using current U.S. information.
The available sources do not provide comparable measurements on those points for the Destinator and Outlander, so they do not support declaring either one the better family SUV.

Does “perfect for American families” hold up?
Not as a verified conclusion. Mitsubishi’s concept announcement establishes a seven-seat ambition and an ASEAN-oriented production plan; the later report gives Destinator specifications and said it was not sold in the U.S. then. Neither establishes U.S. availability, real-world third-row comfort, cargo capacity with all rows occupied, a U.S.-market safety result, or a comparative family test. “Perfect” is an editorial hook, not a measured finding.
