A car caught fire after a crash on the Mitchell Freeway southbound just before the Hutton Street exit in Osborne Park on Friday, 24 October 2025. The incident was reported at about 10:11 am. A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and three right-hand lanes were closed as traffic backed up to Karrinyup Road.
What happened on the Mitchell Freeway?
PerthNow reported that the car fire followed a crash on the southbound freeway shortly before the Hutton Street exit. The report did not establish what caused the crash or the fire, and it did not identify the vehicle or its driver.
Video described by PerthNow showed three fire trucks, an ambulance and a police car at the scene. The report did not provide a later investigation outcome.
Were there injuries?
PerthNow attributed the injury information to St John: a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No further information about her condition was reported.

Where did traffic back up?
The right three lanes were closed following the incident. PerthNow, attributing the traffic information to Main Roads WA, reported that traffic backed up to Karrinyup Road. The account does not specify how long the closures or delays lasted.
