Ford also lists a 6-minute, 40.835-second Nürburgring lap. Its specification centers on a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, a rear-mounted transaxle, carbon-fiber components and adjustable track hardware. It is not an ordinary Mustang trim, and Ford’s U.S. product page does not disclose its price, exact production total or curb weight.

How much power does the Mustang GTD make?
Ford lists 815 hp at 7,400 rpm and 664 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm for the GTD’s supercharged 5.2-liter V8. Those rpm points matter: each figure describes output at a specified engine speed, not a promise that peak power and peak torque occur together.
Ford’s September 16, 2024 announcement quoted Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall: “GTD’s heart is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8, packing more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.” That is Ford’s comparison claim, not an independent measurement. The current product page’s output figures provide the most direct specification-led way to understand the engine’s stated performance.

What is the Mustang GTD’s top speed?
Ford gives the GTD a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h) on its current U.S. product page. This is the manufacturer-stated figure; the cited page does not describe an independent top-speed test or its conditions.
How fast did the Ford Mustang GTD do the Nürburgring?
Ford lists an “Official Nürburgring Time” of 6 minutes 40.835 seconds and says the GTD was the first American production car to break seven minutes. Both the lap figure and record framing are Ford’s claims on its current product page, not an independently established comparison in the evidence available here. The time is useful context for the car’s stated track ambition, but lap times should not be treated as directly comparable when testing conditions and methods are not established.

What engineering makes the GTD track-focused?
Rear transaxle and carbon-fiber construction
Ford pairs the front-mounted V8 with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a rear-mounted transaxle. A carbon-fiber driveshaft connects the layout; Ford says the arrangement provides near-50/50 weight distribution. The car also uses standard carbon-fiber body panels. These details describe the design approach, but they do not supply a curb-weight figure.
Suspension and ride height
The GTD has a semi-active suspension with adaptive dampers. Ford says a button-operated adjustment lowers ride height by 40 mm for track use. This is a manufacturer-described track setting, rather than a published measure of lap-time improvement.

Oil supply under high cornering loads
Ford describes the dry-sump oil system as the first fitted to a road-going Mustang. The system increases oil capacity and is intended to reduce oil starvation under high G-forces—an important consideration when a car is driven hard through sustained corners.
Aerodynamics, brakes and tires
Ford lists a standard rear wing mounted on the C-pillar and says active aerodynamics are available. Its 2024 announcement describes a Drag Reduction System that changes the rear-wing angle and actuates front flaps to balance speed and downforce. The stopping and grip hardware includes six-piston Brembo forged carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

How much does a Ford Mustang GTD weigh?
Ford’s current product page does not publish a curb-weight figure. Its FAQ answers the weight question with “less,” a joke rather than a specification. Without a stated figure, a precise weight comparison with another car cannot be made from this page.

Ford lists RECARO seats and 12.4-inch and 13.2-inch displays. Available details include titanium shift paddles, a rotary dial shifter and a serial plate made from retired Lockheed Martin F-22 materials. These are feature descriptions; they do not establish how comfortable or ergonomic the cabin is in real-world use.

How many Mustang GTD fastbacks will be made, and what do they cost?
Ford’s U.S. product page says the company keeps the exact number of GTD fastbacks private and does not publish a price there. It directs interested readers to Ford’s email list. No worldwide production total or price should be inferred from the page.
A separate Ford Europe update surfaced with a September 14, 2026 date and said applications would run through October 16, with 500 units expected for Europe. Because that page could not be opened, this is qualified regional information—not a confirmed worldwide production number or evidence of U.S. ordering, dealer allocation or delivery timing.
What the GTD’s specifications do—and do not—tell you
The published figures establish a formidable manufacturer-stated powertrain and track-oriented equipment package. They do not, on their own, provide an independent lap-time comparison, a curb weight, or enough information to establish current availability and transaction price. For comparisons with another performance car, consider the power and torque rpm points, stated top speed, timed circuit result and its source, drivetrain layout, suspension adjustability, aerodynamic equipment, brakes and tires, as well as market-specific price and availability. Avoid ranking cars by headline horsepower or comparing lap times without comparable conditions.
