Those are starting ex-showroom prices, not on-road totals, and only the entry Ertiga price falls below the cap before registration, insurance and other charges.
These cars are not identical types of minivan. Maruti categorises Eeco as a van, Renault presents Triber as a 5-to-7-seat family car, and Maruti places Ertiga in its MPV range. Choose by the people you carry, the fuel and transmission you need, how often the third row is used, and the exact city on-road quote—not by the “minivan” label alone.

What “under ₹9 lakh” means in this shortlist
The filter here is a new-car ex-showroom starting price shown by the manufacturer. It is not a promise that every variant costs less than ₹9 lakh, and it is not the amount you will pay at the dealership.

- Ex-showroom price: the published vehicle price before registration, insurance, road tax and other applicable charges.
- On-road price: the amount quoted for your city and exact variant after those charges are added.
- Variant qualification: a model can qualify through its base trim while better-equipped trims exceed the ceiling.
- Price timing: manufacturers can revise prices or schemes. Renault says its prices exclude local taxes and that the final price is the one applicable on the purchase date. Maruti says the prevailing price and scheme at invoice or billing apply.
Ask a dealer for a written, city-specific on-road quote for the precise trim, fuel type and transmission you intend to buy. Compare that quote with your actual cash or finance limit before booking.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco: the lowest-cost van-format option
Why it makes the shortlist
Maruti Suzuki Arena lists Eeco from ₹5,28,400 ex-showroom. That gives it the lowest entry price among these three models. Maruti describes Eeco in its van range and lists both petrol and S-CNG powertrains, each with a manual transmission.
The van layout can make sense when your priority is straightforward people or load carrying at the lowest initial price. It is a different proposition from a car-shaped family MPV: the right comparison is the exact passenger Eeco configuration against the way your family actually travels.

- Is the quoted vehicle the private passenger configuration you want, rather than a commercial or Tour-branded carrier?
- How many seats are fitted in that exact configuration, and how are the seats arranged?
- Is the quoted fuel version petrol or S-CNG, and is the same equipment supplied with both?
- What is included in the dealer’s written on-road quote for your registration city?
Do not transfer specifications from the Eeco Tour V commercial passenger-carrier page to every private Eeco. The Tour page is a separate commercial product page; confirm seating, eligibility and equipment on the exact vehicle shown on your quotation.
Petrol or S-CNG?
Maruti’s listing establishes the availability of petrol and S-CNG with manual transmission, but the supplied manufacturer material does not provide a comparable fuel-cost or efficiency test. Choose S-CNG only after checking local CNG availability, queueing time, boot or luggage implications in the selected configuration, and the dealer’s delivery and warranty terms. Choose petrol if your routes lack dependable CNG access or if you need the simplest refuelling plan.
Renault Triber: the most flexible 5-to-7-seat layout

The live page also refers to four versions, while the supplied price snapshot gives the three prices above. Check the live configurator or dealer quote for the fourth version, its exact equipment and its current price before comparing it with the ₹9 lakh limit.
Renault’s prices exclude local taxes, and Renault states that the final price is the one applicable on the purchase date. A dated April 2026 price table differs from the live page, so treat the figures above as a current-page snapshot rather than a locked offer.
How the seating system changes the decision
Triber’s defining feature is its ability to switch between five- and seven-seat modes by removing the third-row seats. Renault’s product wording says, “Room for seven and 100+ seating configurations.” That is manufacturer wording, not an independent count, but it signals the intended flexibility.
In practical terms, decide how the car will be used on most journeys:
- Mostly five occupants: remove or fold the third row as permitted by the exact configuration and use the resulting space for luggage.
- Occasional seven occupants: practise third-row installation and access at the dealership. Have the people who will sit there try the seats themselves.
- Regular seven-person trips: check entry to the third row, shoulder room, knee room and luggage space with all seats in place. Do not assume that a published seat count guarantees equal comfort for every adult.
Engine and trim checks
The Renault page presents a 72 PS engine and a 100 PS turbo option. The evidence supplied does not map every output to a specific trim and transmission, so obtain that mapping in writing for the exact car. A lower-priced Triber may not have the engine, gearbox or comfort equipment you saw in a higher-trim advertisement.

Renault lists independent rear air-conditioning vents from the Evolution version. Confirm whether the exact trim you are considering includes rear vents and any other comfort feature your passengers need; equipment can differ by version.

Optional accessories
Renault’s configurator lists printed carpet mats and seat covers as optional accessories. If you search for “Renault Triber car floor mats,” check the model year, seat layout and attachment points before paying. A generic mat is not evidence of compatibility with every Triber configuration, and accessory pricing is separate from the car’s ex-showroom price.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: an entry-level MPV that barely fits
Maruti Suzuki Arena lists the Ertiga from ₹8,90,000 ex-showroom. It is the larger MPV-style proposition in this shortlist, but the starting figure leaves only ₹10,000 of headroom beneath the ex-showroom ceiling. Registration, insurance, road tax and other local charges will push the on-road amount above ₹9 lakh in many locations.
That makes Ertiga a candidate only if your real budget is higher than ₹9 lakh on-road, or if a specific city quote and available scheme still fit your limit. Do not describe every Ertiga variant as a sub-₹9-lakh vehicle: the manufacturer figure is the entry price only.
Ask the dealer for the exact entry variant’s equipment, seating arrangement and delivery price. If the quote exceeds your limit, compare the Triber’s higher versions or the Eeco passenger configuration rather than assuming a discount will be available.
Choose by the priority that matters most
Lowest entry price
Eeco has the lowest listed starting price at ₹5,28,400, followed by Triber at ₹5,80,875. The gap is useful only after you compare equivalent passenger configurations. A very low base price can become less attractive if the required seating, fuel system or safety and comfort equipment is available only in a costlier version.
Flexible seven-seat use
Triber is the clearest fit when you need a 5-to-7-seat layout that can be reconfigured. Its removable third row lets you prioritise passengers on one trip and luggage on another. Verify that the removal and refitting process is practical for the people who will use it, and check comfort with the full family present.

Fuel choice
Eeco is the only model in this shortlist for which the supplied manufacturer listing explicitly shows both petrol and S-CNG, with manual transmission. Triber’s page focuses on its 72 PS and 100 PS turbo engine options. The supplied material does not establish a directly comparable fuel-economy result, so do not choose on an invented kilometres-per-litre claim.
Rear-passenger comfort
Triber’s independent rear AC vents are listed from Evolution, making trim verification important for hot-weather family use. For Eeco and Ertiga, inspect the actual vehicle and equipment list rather than assuming a feature from a different variant or commercial page.
Private family use versus commercial use
If you are buying for personal travel, insist that the quotation identifies the private passenger vehicle and its registration category. Commercial Tour variants can have different specifications, eligibility, seating and documentation. The Eeco Tour V page should not be used as a substitute for the passenger Eeco configuration you intend to register.
How to calculate your real on-road budget
- Select the exact model and variant. Write down the trim name, engine or fuel type, transmission and any factory-fitted option.
- Request a city-specific quotation. Ask the authorised dealer to itemise ex-showroom price, registration or road tax, insurance, handling or statutory charges where applicable, accessories and any discount.
- Separate mandatory and optional items. Remove accessories you do not need so you can see the genuine vehicle cost. Keep insurance comparisons transparent by comparing equivalent coverage.
- Check the quotation date. Maruti says the prevailing price and scheme at invoice or bill apply; Renault says the purchase-date price is final and excludes local taxes.
- Confirm the delivery vehicle. Match the VIN or vehicle details, variant, fuel and included equipment to the signed quotation before payment.
- Leave a contingency. Registration and insurance can vary by city and customer profile. A model that is just below ₹9 lakh ex-showroom should not be treated as a ₹9-lakh on-road purchase.
What to inspect during a family appointment
Seating and access
- Bring the adults and children who will regularly travel in the car.
- Try every seating position, including the third row, rather than judging from the showroom entrance.
- Check how children enter the rear row and whether adults can reach the buckles without awkward stretching.
- With all seats occupied, place the family’s normal luggage in the available space.
Controls and comfort
- Operate the air-conditioning controls from each relevant row.
- Check whether rear vents, seat covers, mats and other desired items are standard on the quoted trim or paid accessories.
- Ask to see the owner’s manual or a written equipment sheet when a salesperson makes a feature claim.
Powertrain and use case
- For Eeco S-CNG, confirm nearby filling stations and how the cylinder installation affects the configuration you are buying.
- For Triber, identify whether the quote uses the 72 PS engine or the 100 PS turbo option and which transmission is paired with it.
- For Ertiga, test the entry variant you can actually afford, not a higher display vehicle.
Warranty and evidence limits
Renault’s price page lists a standard warranty of three years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first. Confirm the warranty booklet, exclusions, scheduled-service requirements and whether any optional coverage is being added to your quote.
The manufacturer pages used for this shortlist do not provide an independent reliability ranking, independent crash-test result, city-level on-road total, financing comparison, discount guarantee or verified fuel-economy comparison. A starting price is a threshold check, not a cheque amount. The remedy is a written on-road quote for your registration city and exact variant.

Assuming every trim stays below ₹9 lakh
Eeco at ₹5,28,400, Triber at ₹5,80,875 and Ertiga at ₹8,90,000 are starting figures. Higher trims, powertrains, accessories and local charges can change the result. Compare the complete quote, not the headline number.
Comparing a commercial Eeco with a private family car
Tour-branded commercial pages may describe a different product. Confirm passenger registration, seating and equipment on the vehicle you will own.
Counting seats without checking comfort
A seven-seat label does not answer whether your family can enter, sit and carry luggage comfortably. Test every row with the real occupants.
Using an old price table
Renault’s dated April 2026 table differs from its current page, and manufacturers can revise prices. Recheck the live page and obtain the purchase-date quote before paying a booking amount.
Which one should you shortlist?
- Choose Eeco first if the lowest entry price, van-format practicality and a petrol/S-CNG manual choice matter most, and you are prepared to verify the private passenger configuration carefully.

- Consider Ertiga if you specifically want its MPV format and can accommodate an on-road budget above the ₹9-lakh ex-showroom filter. Its ₹8,90,000 starting price leaves very little room for local charges.
There is no evidence-based “best” overall winner among these three. The defensible choice is the exact variant that fits your city quote, passenger pattern, fuel access and comfort requirements.
