The 30,000-km/two-year visit adds coolant and brake-fluid replacement, while the first visit includes reducer-oil service. Cars sold before 31 December 2025 follow an older first-year timing note. Annual scheduled maintenance is often estimated at about ₹9,000, but MG does not publish a nationwide fixed price, so the authorised dealer’s written quote is the figure that matters.
MG Windsor EV service interval at a glance
JSW MG Motor India’s maintenance table uses both distance and time: whichever limit arrives first triggers the visit. The current sequence starts at 5,000 km or three months, moves to 15,000 km or one year, then continues in 15,000-km/one-year increments through 150,000 km or 10 years.

| Odometer or age | What the interval means | Major scheduled replacement shown in the plan |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 km or 3 months | First scheduled service; whichever comes first | Reducer oil (first change) |
| 15,000 km or 1 year | Second scheduled service | AC/cabin filter |
| 30,000 km or 2 years | Third scheduled service | Coolant, brake fluid and reducer oil |
| 45,000 km or 3 years | Next 15,000-km/one-year step | AC/cabin filter at the applicable one-year/15,000-km point |
| 60,000 km or 4 years | Four-year step | Coolant, brake fluid and reducer oil when the 30,000-km/two-year cycle falls due |
| 75,000 km through 150,000 km or 5 through 10 years | Continue every 15,000 km or one year | Repeat time- or distance-based items; transmission fluid is listed at 80,000 km or 8 years |
The table is a maintenance framework, not permission to defer a visit until the mileage if the time limit has already passed. A Windsor driven only a few thousand kilometres still reaches its annual service by the calendar.

Older vehicles have a first-year exception
A footnote in the official schedule says vehicles sold before 31 December 2025 use a first service at one month or 1,000 km, followed by a second service at six months or 5,000 km. Check the sale date and the schedule printed in your service booklet or plan certificate before booking, because applying the newer three-month/5,000-km timing to an earlier vehicle could make the first visit late.

What the workshop checks at every visit
An EV service is not an engine-oil change, but it still involves a broad safety and systems inspection. The official table calls for checks of:
- Parking brake, brake components and brake operation
- Exterior lights, horn, warning display and wipers
- Seat belts and other occupant-safety functions
- Air-conditioning operation
- The 12-volt battery
- High-voltage harnesses and connectors
- Battery and power-electronics cooling circuits
- Steering, suspension, wheel bearings and tyres
- Underbody condition and fasteners
- Software and diagnostic status
Underbody-fastener tightening, door adjustment and functional checks are stated as mandatory at every service. Ask the adviser to show these lines on the job card rather than treating the appointment as a quick visual inspection. High-voltage work should be performed only by technicians trained and equipped for EV systems; do not attempt to open battery or orange-cable components yourself.
What is replaced in the first three services?
First service: 5,000 km or three months
The first scheduled visit establishes the Windsor’s service record and includes the routine safety, EV-system, software and underbody checks. The schedule lists the first reducer-oil replacement at this milestone. Confirm whether the quoted price includes the oil, labour, seals and any diagnostic charge, because plan documents can define consumables differently.
Second service: 15,000 km or one year
At the second interval, the AC/cabin filter is due at 15,000 km or one year. The workshop repeats the inspection program, including the 12-volt battery, high-voltage connections, cooling circuits, brakes, tyres, steering, suspension and software status. If the car reaches one year before 15,000 km, the filter and service are still due on time.

Third service: 30,000 km or two years
The 30,000-km/two-year visit is the first larger fluid service. The schedule calls for coolant and brake-fluid replacement, plus reducer oil on its 30,000-km/two-year cycle. Coolant should be changed earlier if contamination or sludge is found. Request the fluid specification and disposal line on the invoice, and ask whether brake-fluid testing or replacement is included in your maintenance plan.
Fluid and filter replacement milestones
| Item | Official interval | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| AC/cabin filter | 15,000 km or 1 year | Replace at whichever comes first; verify the part fits your model year. |
| Coolant | 30,000 km or 2 years | Replace sooner if contamination or sludge is present. |
| Brake fluid | 30,000 km or 2 years | Do not confuse this with brake-pad wear inspection; both are separate concerns. |
| Reducer oil | First at 5,000 km, then every 30,000 km or 2 years | Ensure the first change is not omitted when a plan advertises “labour-free” visits. |
| Transmission fluid | 80,000 km or 8 years | This is a later milestone and is distinct from reducer oil. |
Tyres, wiper blades, brake pads and other wear items do not have a guaranteed replacement date in the schedule. Their life depends on alignment, road surface, driving style, climate and regenerative-braking use. A low-mileage car can still need a 12-volt battery or tyres because those parts age as well as wear.
How much does Windsor EV servicing cost?
MG’s public service page provides access to service documents and dealer booking, but it does not publish a single nationwide Windsor price list. An ev.care guide updated 31 December 2024 gives an indicative estimate of about ₹9,000 per year for scheduled maintenance and roughly ₹4,500 for a typical visit. Those are secondary estimates, not MG tariffs: city labour rates, GST, parts prices, fluid quantities, diagnostic charges and plan coverage can change the invoice.

| About ₹4,500 per visit | Indicative typical-visit estimate from ev.care (updated 31 December 2024) | Dealer labour rate, consumables, taxes, additional repairs and software or diagnostic work |
| About ₹9,000 per year | Indicative scheduled-maintenance estimate from the same guide | Whether the year includes the 30,000-km fluid service, a filter, wear items or a plan-covered visit |

The EV layout removes engine-oil, oil-filter, spark-plug and conventional engine-belt services. It does not remove tyres, wipers, cabin filters, brake components, coolant, reducer oil, the 12-volt battery or diagnostic work. That is why a Windsor can be lower-maintenance than a petrol or diesel car without having a zero-cost ownership schedule.

Maintenance packages, BaaS and e-Shield terms
Three-year package mentioned with BaaS
JSW MG Motor India’s 11 September 2024 launch release said the Battery-as-a-Service offer included a fee for a three-year maintenance package. Treat that statement as launch-package context, not proof that every Windsor purchase has identical coverage. Your invoice, booking paperwork and plan certificate control the entitlement.
Windsor Pro e-Shield
The Windsor Pro e-Shield brochure describes three labour-free scheduled services and offers optional Classic and Premium plans. Classic covers scheduled maintenance; Premium adds wear-and-tear coverage subject to exclusions. “Labour-free” does not automatically mean that every filter, fluid, tyre, brake part or accidental repair is free. Read the inclusion and exclusion schedule before assuming the 30,000-km coolant or brake-fluid work is covered.
Six checks before buying or renewing a plan
- Confirm which labour operations are included.
- List filters, fluids, seals and other consumables that are included or chargeable.
- Check the exact time and kilometre validity, including any annual cap.
- Identify wear-item exclusions and approval requirements.
- Ask how the plan interacts with warranty, roadside assistance and missed-service rules.
- Confirm whether coverage transfers to a later owner and what paperwork is required.
How to get an accurate dealer quote
- Record the vehicle identification number, registration date, variant, current odometer and previous service dates.
- Use the official maintenance table to identify the due interval and its fluid or filter milestones.
- Request an itemised quote from an authorised MG service centre before authorising work.
- Ask the adviser to separate scheduled operations from recommendations, wear items and customer-requested repairs.
- Have the job card list labour, parts, quantities, taxes, diagnostics and any plan or warranty deduction.
- At collection, check that the invoice records the replaced items, software or diagnostic results and next due date.
This process prevents a dealer estimate from quietly combining due maintenance with optional cleaning, premature replacement or unrelated repairs. If a quoted line does not appear due under the official interval, ask for the reason in writing—for example, contamination, damage or a failed inspection.

Why the Windsor is relatively low-maintenance—and what still matters
Launch specifications from JSW MG Motor India list a 38 kWh battery, 100 kW (136 PS) motor output and a claimed 331 km range. The range is a manufacturer claim from 2024, not an independently tested result. These specifications explain why the service plan concentrates on electrical safety, cooling, software, brakes and the single-speed drive system rather than combustion-engine lubrication.

Regenerative braking can reduce friction-brake use, but it does not make brake inspection optional. Corrosion, seized mechanisms, uneven pad wear and brake-fluid age remain possible, especially where a car is driven short distances or parked in humid conditions. Likewise, sealed high-voltage components need professional inspection of connectors, harnesses and cooling circuits; “sealed” does not mean “ignore it.”
Cabin-filter replacement and owner checks
Because the AC/cabin filter is scheduled every 15,000 km or one year, owners who buy a replacement themselves should verify the exact model year, dimensions and seller fitment. A visibly dirty filter, restricted airflow or odour is a reason to have it inspected sooner, but an early replacement does not move the official service interval unless the dealer records it as part of the scheduled visit. Keep the invoice or part number with the service records.
Between services, monitor tyre pressures, warning messages, wiper performance, air-conditioning output and the 12-volt battery’s behaviour. Do not ignore a high-voltage warning, coolant leak, burning smell, repeated charging fault or sudden loss of power; stop safely and use the manufacturer’s assistance process rather than continuing to drive.
Is the MG Windsor EV really low-maintenance?
Yes, in the narrow sense that it eliminates engine-oil and several combustion-engine services. No, if “low-maintenance” is taken to mean infrequent inspections or predictable lifetime cost. The official plan still requires visits as often as every year, a reducer-oil change at 5,000 km, recurring filter work, two-year coolant and brake-fluid service, later transmission-fluid replacement and ongoing tyre, brake, 12-volt-battery and software attention.
The most reliable budget is therefore the schedule plus a reserve for wear items and unexpected faults. Use the ₹4,500-per-visit and ₹9,000-per-year figures only as planning estimates from the dated ev.care guide; use the authorised dealer’s written quotation and your plan certificate to decide what your particular Windsor will cost.
