Short answer: the MG Comet EV is the only model with several clearly listed ex-showroom variants below ₹10 lakh. MG advertises the Astor from ₹9.65 lakh, but its exact current trim and local quote need confirmation. The Windsor EV appears below ₹10 lakh only through battery-as-a-service (BaaS); its conventional ex-showroom price starts well above the budget.
The current MG cars that can appear under ₹10 lakh
“Under ₹10 lakh” is not one single price test. MG’s Indian listings use more than one basis: conventional ex-showroom pricing and BaaS pricing, where the initial vehicle price is reduced but a battery charge is added for every kilometre driven. Comparing those figures as if they were equivalent can lead to an expensive surprise.

| Model | Price basis shown by MG | Published price | What the listing establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MG Comet EV | Conventional ex-showroom | ₹7,79,800–₹10,06,800 | Several listed variants are below ₹10 lakh; the highest listed variant crosses the limit. |
| MG Comet EV | BaaS | ₹4.99 lakh + ₹3.2/km | The displayed entry price excludes the per-kilometre battery rental. |
| MG Astor | Advertised starting price | ₹9.65 lakh | MG’s homepage advertises this starting figure; a complete current variant table and on-road quote still need confirmation. |
| MG Windsor EV | Conventional ex-showroom | ₹14,69,800–₹16,99,800 | No conventional Windsor variant shown is below ₹10 lakh. |
| MG Windsor EV | BaaS | ₹9.99 lakh + ₹3.99/km | The headline entry is a BaaS price, not the full ex-showroom purchase price. |
These are manufacturer-published figures on MG’s current pages accessed in 2026. Prices, offers and the exact variants attached to them can change, so treat the table as a starting point for a dated enquiry rather than a guaranteed dealer quotation.
How to read the ₹10-lakh limit
Ex-showroom is the cleanest comparison
An ex-showroom figure is the vehicle price basis MG publishes for a variant. It is useful for comparing models, but it is not the same as an on-road amount. The material available for this shortlist does not establish comparable registration, insurance, tax or dealer charges for any of the three models. If your absolute spending ceiling is ₹10 lakh on the day you register the car, an ex-showroom price below ₹10 lakh may still leave too little headroom.

BaaS is a different cost structure
Under BaaS, the advertised upfront number is paired with a usage charge. For the Comet, MG displays ₹4.99 lakh plus ₹3.2 for every kilometre. For the Windsor, it displays ₹9.99 lakh plus ₹3.99 per kilometre. A driver covering 1,000 km would therefore incur ₹3,200 or ₹3,990 respectively in battery rental for that distance; at 10,000 km, the illustrative totals become ₹32,000 and ₹39,900. Those calculations show why the kilometre charge belongs in your budget, but they are not a complete ownership-cost estimate and do not include any other vehicle expenses.
Ask for the same basis on every quote
- Request the exact variant name and whether the figure is ex-showroom, on-road or BaaS.
- Ask whether a BaaS quote includes the battery rental contract and what kilometre measurement the charge uses.
- Have the dealer write the upfront amount and recurring per-kilometre amount on the same quotation.
- Record the city and the date, because local taxes, offers and inventory can alter the payable figure.
MG Comet EV: the clearest sub-₹10-lakh choice
Which Comet prices fit
MG’s product page lists Comet EV variants from ₹7,79,800 to ₹10,06,800 ex-showroom. That range matters: the lower and middle entries satisfy a strict ₹10-lakh ex-showroom filter, while the most expensive listed variant does not. Do not describe every Comet as under ₹10 lakh; identify the selected trim on the day you publish or buy.
MG also displays a BaaS starting price of ₹4.99 lakh plus ₹3.2/km. That is not a discount that removes the battery cost. It changes when and how you pay for part of the vehicle, so compare a conventional quote and a BaaS quote over the distance you expect to drive.

Size, seating and battery information
The Comet is a four-seater. MG lists a 17.4 kWh battery and a 230 km ARAI-certified range. ARAI certification is a standardised test result, not a promise that every driver will travel 230 km in every season, traffic condition or driving style. Use it as a comparison figure and leave a practical buffer when planning daily trips.
Charging capability
MG says the Comet supports AC charging and does not support DC fast charging. That makes access to an appropriate AC charging point important. If you live in an apartment or park away from home, confirm where and how the car can be charged before signing a booking form. MG’s Comet material references an AC-charging installation guide, but the available information does not establish that a charger or installation is included in every deal. Ask the dealer to specify equipment, installation, electrical work and warranty terms in writing.
Who should consider it
- City commuters: the compact four-seat layout and electric drivetrain suit buyers whose regular journeys are urban and predictable.
- Small households: it can work when four seats are enough and luggage expectations are modest.
- Strict ex-showroom budgets: several listed variants leave room below ₹10 lakh, unlike the highest listed Comet trim.
- Drivers able to charge on AC: home, workplace or another dependable AC point is more important than a theoretical range number.
What to check before selecting a Comet trim
- Open the current MG product listing and note the exact variant and displayed price on your buying date.
- Decide whether you are comparing conventional ex-showroom pricing or the BaaS offer; do not mix the two in a shortlist.
- Ask for the dealer’s on-road quote for your city and confirm every charge outside the published ex-showroom figure.
- Confirm the four-seat configuration meets your family’s needs and inspect the actual cabin and luggage space at the dealership.
- Verify AC charging access, installation responsibility and the absence of DC fast charging before placing a deposit.
MG Astor: advertised below the line, but verify the exact car
MG’s homepage advertises the Astor from ₹9.65 lakh. That starting figure places the model in searches for “MG cars under 10 lakh,” but the available listing does not provide a detailed current variant table or confirm a final on-road price. The number should therefore be treated as an advertised entry point, not proof that every buyer can purchase an Astor for less than ₹10 lakh.

What the Astor figure does and does not tell you
- It identifies a starting price, not the price of every Astor variant.
- It does not establish which equipment is included in the ₹9.65-lakh version.
- It does not establish your city’s on-road amount.
- It does not show whether a current promotion, stock condition or limited-period offer is involved.
Astor verification checklist
- Ask the dealer to identify the exact trim corresponding to the ₹9.65-lakh advertisement.
- Request a dated written quotation showing the ex-showroom amount and the complete on-road total.
- Check whether the quoted car is physically available and whether the advertised price depends on an exchange, finance or other condition.
- Compare the equipment on that entry trim with the features you actually require; moving to a higher trim can push the car beyond the budget.
- Recheck the official MG listing immediately before booking, because the homepage figure can change.
On the evidence available, the Astor belongs on a verification shortlist rather than a definitive “under ₹10 lakh” recommendation. Buyers who need a firm, documented ex-showroom match have stronger evidence with the lower-priced Comet variants.
MG Windsor EV: only under ₹10 lakh through BaaS
Conventional purchase price
MG’s current Windsor page lists a conventional ex-showroom range of ₹14,69,800 to ₹16,99,800. Every figure in that range is above ₹10 lakh, so the Windsor is not a sub-₹10-lakh full-price car on the published information.
Why the BaaS headline can be confusing
The same page shows a BaaS starting price of ₹9.99 lakh plus ₹3.99/km. That upfront figure technically falls below the search threshold, but it comes with a recurring battery-rental charge. It should be labelled BaaS every time it appears in an article, comparison or dealer conversation. Calling the Windsor simply “an MG car under ₹10 lakh” hides the condition that makes the number possible.

- Easy to Install: Car side seat gap filler is easy to install, simply insert it into the gap between the seat and the center console, gap seat filler for car can fit tightly without affecting the normal adjustment of the seat and the use of the seat belt

When the Windsor belongs in your shortlist
Include it if you are specifically evaluating a lower-upfront BaaS structure and are comfortable planning for a per-kilometre payment. Exclude it from a shortlist that means “the complete vehicle price is below ₹10 lakh before on-road costs.” The available material does not provide a comparable ownership-cost total, so your decision requires a distance estimate and a dealer explanation of the BaaS agreement.

If your ceiling means ex-showroom price below ₹10 lakh
Start with the Comet EV variants priced from ₹7,79,800 upward and stop before the listed ₹10,06,800 version. Keep the Astor on a secondary list until a dealer confirms the exact entry trim and quote. Do not count the Windsor, because its conventional range starts at ₹14,69,800.

Compare the Comet BaaS entry at ₹4.99 lakh plus ₹3.2/km with the Windsor BaaS entry at ₹9.99 lakh plus ₹3.99/km. The lower upfront number is not automatically cheaper: multiply each per-kilometre charge by your expected distance, then add it to the upfront amount and any other quoted costs. Use the exact contract terms supplied for your chosen variant.

If you need more than a city runabout
The Comet’s documented four-seat layout and 230 km ARAI figure should be assessed against your passenger, luggage and route requirements. The supplied Astor and Windsor listings do not provide comparable seating, battery or range details, so obtain the current specification sheets and inspect the vehicles rather than inferring capability from price alone.
If charging access is uncertain
The Comet’s documented AC-only charging capability makes the charging question immediate. Confirm your parking arrangement first. For the Astor and Windsor, the cited price pages do not establish comparable charging details, so request the current technical specification and installation information from MG before comparing them as electric-car alternatives.
A practical buying process
- Define the budget basis. Write “₹10 lakh ex-showroom” or “₹10 lakh total on-road” at the top of your notes. If you are considering BaaS, write the maximum upfront amount and the maximum acceptable per-kilometre charge separately.
- Capture the official listing. Record the model, variant, displayed price and date from MG’s current page. Prices in this article are manufacturer figures accessed in 2026 and may not remain unchanged.
- Get a local written quote. Ask an MG dealer in your registration city for the exact on-road amount. A verbal starting price is not enough to approve a purchase.
- Separate vehicle and battery payments. On a BaaS quote, make sure the upfront vehicle amount and the ₹/km battery charge are both visible. Ask how the charge is calculated and what documents govern it.
- Match the car to your use. Check seating, route length, parking, charging access and luggage needs. For the Comet, remember that the published 230 km is ARAI-certified and that DC fast charging is not supported.
- Check the delivered car. Verify that the quoted trim, equipment and price match the booking form and the vehicle offered for delivery.
- Recheck before payment. Confirm that the offer, inventory and dealer quotation are still valid on the day you pay the booking amount.
Common mistakes that push a “sub-₹10-lakh” MG over budget
- Combining unlike prices: comparing a conventional ex-showroom Comet price with a BaaS Windsor price makes the Windsor look cheaper than it is on a full-purchase basis.
- Using the model name instead of the variant: the Comet range itself runs from below ₹10 lakh to ₹10,06,800, so the selected trim matters.
- Ignoring the recurring charge: ₹3.2/km or ₹3.99/km becomes a meaningful expense as annual distance rises.
- Treating the Astor advertisement as a guaranteed quote: ₹9.65 lakh is a homepage starting figure; confirm trim, city and conditions.
- Calling certified range real-world range: the Comet’s 230 km ARAI result is a test-cycle figure, not a universal trip guarantee.
- Assuming fast charging: MG states that the Comet does not support DC fast charging.
- Budgeting from ex-showroom alone: ask for the complete local quotation if ₹10 lakh is a hard spending limit.
- Assuming equipment is included: confirm charger hardware and installation in writing instead of inferring inclusion from a product-page reference to an installation guide.
Our verdict
For a buyer who means “an MG listed below ₹10 lakh ex-showroom,” the Comet EV is the strongest documented answer. Its ₹7,79,800–₹10,06,800 range contains multiple qualifying variants, and MG publishes useful battery, seating, range and charging information. Select the exact trim carefully because the top of the range crosses the threshold.

The Windsor should be presented as a BaaS alternative only: its ₹9.99-lakh headline is accompanied by ₹3.99/km, while the conventional ex-showroom price begins at ₹14,69,800.
Before booking any of them, put the price basis, variant, city, date and recurring charges on one written quote. That simple comparison prevents the most common mistake in this price bracket: treating a low entry number as the complete cost of the car.
