Savvy Pro price reference
The Savvy Pro is listed at ₹15,30,100 ex-showroom and is shown only with the VTi-TECH CVT. On the brochure figures, it costs ₹3,96,000 more than the Shine. That difference buys equipment and safety technology rather than a larger engine: both trims use the 1,498 cc unit rated at 110 PS and 144 Nm.
Items that can change the amount payable
- Registration and road tax vary by state and vehicle registration category.
- Insurance premiums depend on insurer, coverage and location.
- Dealer handling or other dealer charges may be added to the ex-showroom figure.
- MG’s brochure states that a dual-tone colour adds ₹20,000 to the listed price.
- Dealer discounts, exchange benefits, stock age and model-year changes can move the transaction price up or down.
Ask for a written, itemised quotation for the exact city, colour, transmission and model year. Compare the on-road total, not only the brochure gap. If a dealer presents a discount on one trim but not the other, recalculate the net difference rather than assuming the brochure relationship still applies.

Shared VTi-TECH specifications
The brochure gives the petrol engine a displacement of 1,498 cc, maximum power of 110 PS at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 144 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Both trims have a 48-litre fuel tank. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish acceleration, overtaking performance, refinement or real-world fuel economy.

Why the Shine suits a manual buyer
Shine is the only one of the two trims shown with a 5-speed manual. That makes it the straightforward choice if you prefer to select gears yourself, want to avoid a continuously variable transmission, or require a manual for your driving conditions. Confirm that the manual configuration is physically available in your city before paying a booking amount.
Why Savvy Pro requires acceptance of the CVT
Savvy Pro is listed with the CVT only. A CVT can reduce the need for repeated clutch work in traffic, but buyers who specifically want a manual cannot obtain that transmission in the Savvy Pro configuration shown in the brochure. A test drive should cover low-speed crawling, a hill start and a faster merge so you can judge the transmission’s response for yourself.
Do not compare the trims only from a specification sheet. Drive the manual Shine if clutch effort, gear spacing and engine response matter to you. In the CVT cars, check how the engine responds when you request a quick acceleration, how predictable the car feels in a parking manoeuvre and whether the transmission suits your normal traffic. These observations are personal impressions, not measured performance claims.

Cabin and infotainment equipment
Seats and upholstery
Savvy Pro adds front ventilated seats, a useful comfort feature in hot weather and humid traffic. The Shine does not list ventilated seats. Shine is specified with premium fabric upholstery, while Savvy Pro is specified with perforated leather upholstery. The brochure marks the material with a footnote, so “leather upholstery” should not be interpreted as a claim that every interior surface is genuine leather. Check the exact material description on the vehicle and purchase documents.

Instrument displays
The Shine uses an 8.9 cm colour multi-information display. Savvy Pro upgrades to a 17.78 cm embedded LCD full digital cluster. This is a change in the driver’s information interface rather than an engine or chassis upgrade. Sit in both cars and check whether the display size, layout and readability matter to you in bright sunlight and at night.
Screen, phone integration and connected services
Both trims are listed with the 25.7 cm (10.1-inch) touchscreen, steering-mounted audio controls and USB/FM/Bluetooth music and calling. Savvy Pro adds i-SMART 2.0 with Advanced UI and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Those Savvy Pro features are not listed for Shine in the trim matrix, so a Shine buyer should verify exactly how a phone connects before assuming wireless projection is included.
The brochure claims more than 80 connected-car features for the i-SMART system and says the services are complimentary for one year for a new MG equipped with the system. “80+” is a manufacturer feature-count claim, not an independent assessment of usefulness or uptime. Ask which services are included, what happens after the complimentary period, and whether a data connection or account activation is required.
Audio and everyday controls
Do not treat the speaker system as a Savvy Pro advantage. The brochure’s table lists six speakers plus tweeters for both Shine and Savvy Pro. Both also receive a premium soft-touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel and front and rear LED reading lamps. The differentiators are the digital cluster, wireless phone integration and i-SMART interface, not speaker count.
Safety equipment and driver assistance
Airbag difference
The trim matrix shows two front airbags for Shine and six airbags for Savvy Pro. Because airbag fitment can vary by model year and configuration, inspect the vehicle and the final equipment list rather than relying on a generic online listing.

What the Savvy Pro Level-2 package includes
Savvy Pro is shown with MG’s Autonomous Level-2 package. The brochure describes functions including adaptive cruise control, lane functions, forward-collision prevention, blind-spot detection, lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert. Shine does not show those Level-2 package functions in the trim matrix.
These systems are driver aids, not autonomous driving. The brochure’s responsibility statement is explicit: “The driver shall remain responsible for safe, vigilant and attentive driving.” Keep your hands, attention and judgement engaged; weather, road markings, traffic behaviour and sensor limitations can affect operation. Confirm the exact functions, operating conditions and warning messages during the handover demonstration.
Questions to ask before relying on the safety technology
- Are all six airbags and every Level-2 function fitted to the exact stock vehicle, not merely the trim name?
- Which systems can be adjusted or switched off, and what warning appears when they are unavailable?
- How do the sensors behave with heavy rain, dirt, stickers, accessories or a blocked camera view?
- Will the dealer demonstrate adaptive cruise, lane functions and blind-spot alerts in a safe, controlled setting?
Understanding the ₹3,96,000 equipment premium
The brochure does not assign a separate rupee value to each Savvy Pro feature. The premium therefore should not be described as the price of one item, such as ventilated seats or the digital cluster. It is the difference between two complete configurations: the same engine, but different transmission availability, interior trim, display hardware, phone integration, airbags and driver-assistance equipment.

Ownership coverage and connected-service terms
The brochure advertises a three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty and three years of roadside assistance. Printed terms include qualifications for commercial-use vehicles and specific components, so read the warranty booklet and sale contract for exclusions, maintenance requirements, emergency-assistance scope and transfer rules. Do not assume every part has unlimited coverage simply because the headline warranty uses that phrase.
For Savvy Pro, confirm the duration and renewal cost of i-SMART services after the one-year complimentary period. Also ask whether a subscription, mobile-data connection or app account is needed for each connected function you expect to use. Record the activation date, because the complimentary period may be tied to the new-vehicle account rather than the date you first use an individual feature.

When neither brochure price should decide alone
A large equipment list does not automatically make Savvy Pro the better purchase, and a lower price does not make Shine suitable for every driver. The engine output is the same, so the Savvy Pro premium is primarily for equipment, safety and convenience rather than additional power.
What the published specifications do not tell you
No independent fuel-economy result, acceleration measurement, long-term reliability record or owner-satisfaction statistic is established by the brochure. Do not use the 48-litre tank size to predict range, or the 110 PS rating to infer a specific 0–100 km/h time. Real consumption depends on traffic, speed, load, tyre pressures, air-conditioning use and driving style.
The brochure also warns that features and specifications may vary by model and that MG may change them without prior notice. Verify stock, production year, colours, software functions, safety equipment and prices with a nearby MG dealer before signing. A short test drive cannot establish long-term reliability, so treat it as a way to evaluate seating, visibility, ride comfort and transmission behaviour rather than proof of ownership costs.
