The MG brochure is the safer basis for checking every individual feature, because its specifications carry model-variation caveats.

Autocar India’s 2026 model information says the manual is available on all trims except the top trim and that CVT availability is limited to mid- and upper trims. That description does not align perfectly with every configuration in the 2025 MG price release, so do not assume that a current Savvy or Sharp listing has the same transmission choices. Confirm the model year and stock specification with MG before paying a booking amount.

What does Savvy Pro add?
Level 2 ADAS is the stated differentiator
Autocar India’s trim summary identifies Level 2 ADAS as the Savvy Pro’s distinguishing equipment. “Level 2” describes a suite of driver-assistance functions that can support the driver in defined situations; it does not turn the Astor into a self-driving car. You remain responsible for steering, speed, observation and intervention. Treat the system as an aid, not a safety guarantee.
The exact functions, activation conditions, warnings and limitations should be checked in the brochure for your model year. Do not assume that a feature shown in a review or an older brochure is fitted to the car offered in your city. Ask the salesperson to demonstrate the relevant menus and warning messages on the actual vehicle.
Six airbags are not a Savvy-only feature in the cited brochure
The MG Astor brochure cited for this comparison shows six airbags for both Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. Therefore, the Savvy premium should not be justified by saying it alone has six airbags. Verify the airbag count and the rest of the safety equipment against the brochure carrying your vehicle’s model-year details.

Do not assume every other item is identical
Autocar India’s summary says there is no other difference from Sharp Pro apart from the cited ADAS distinction, but the brochure warns that equipment can vary by model. Treat that summary as a useful orientation, not a substitute for the official feature table. Compare lighting, cameras, infotainment, seat functions, wheels, sensors and convenience equipment line by line on the applicable brochure or order form.

Sharp Pro is the only one of the three listed combinations offered with a 5MT. If you actively want a manual, Savvy Pro 8CVT is not an alternative version of the same choice; it is a different transmission and a higher-priced trim. If you want an automatic, compare Sharp Pro 8CVT directly with Savvy Pro 8CVT rather than comparing Savvy with the cheaper manual.
The automatic Sharp Pro isolates the ADAS decision
At the published 2025 prices, Sharp Pro 8CVT costs ₹14,89,800 and Savvy Pro 8CVT costs ₹15,69,800. The ₹80,000 gap is the cleanest available way to ask whether the Savvy equipment is worth paying for, because the listed transmission is the same. Your actual gap can differ once MG updates prices or changes equipment.

It avoids paying for equipment you may not use
If you drive mostly in conditions where you would leave driver-assistance functions disabled, or you simply prefer a less intervention-heavy car, Sharp Pro may provide better value. Make that decision after a test drive and a demonstration of the systems, not from the trim name alone.

Both trims are associated with the Astor’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in Autocar India’s 2026 model information. The published prices, however, pair the trims with different transmissions: Sharp Pro 5MT, Sharp Pro 8CVT and Savvy Pro 8CVT.

Model-year and availability checks you should make
The source descriptions cover different years: MG’s price release is from 2025, while Autocar India’s model page is labeled for 2026. Their transmission descriptions are not identical. This is why a current online comparison can show a combination that a dealer cannot supply, or omit one that still exists in a particular inventory batch.

CarWale displays a Chennai comparison defaulting to Savvy Pro CVT against Sharp Pro manual, with on-road figures of ₹19.07 lakh and ₹16.69 lakh respectively. Those numbers are city-specific third-party figures, and the comparison is not transmission-matched. The ₹2.38 lakh difference cannot be treated as the Savvy Pro’s ADAS premium because it also reflects the manual-versus-CVT choice, as well as the date and local charges used by that page.
Registration tax, insurance, offers, accessories, handling policies and stock timing can all change the final amount. Ask the dealer for an itemised, dated quotation for the same city, model year and transmission. Compare the ex-showroom line, mandatory government charges, insurance, optional products and discounts separately.
A practical decision framework
Choose Savvy Pro 8CVT when all three statements are true
- You want an automatic Astor.
- You have confirmed that the supplied car includes the Level 2 ADAS equipment you value.
- The verified premium over the equivalent Sharp Pro 8CVT fits your budget after on-road costs.
Choose Sharp Pro 8CVT when these describe your priorities
- You want an automatic but would rather keep the extra ₹80,000 (using MG’s 2025 reference prices) for insurance, registration or other ownership costs.
- You have compared the brochure and found no Savvy-only feature you consider essential beyond the cited ADAS package.
- You prefer a simpler purchase decision and are satisfied with the Sharp Pro’s confirmed equipment.
Choose Sharp Pro 5MT when these describe your priorities
