What makes the Maybach a luxury proposition beyond the engine?

Listed or described features include predictive damping, executive rear seats, rear-seat entertainment, optional comfort doors, and an optional refrigerated compartment. Availability varies by market and configuration, so treat these as features to verify on the specific car rather than a guarantee that every S-Class has them.

Those figures describe a stated customization palette, not standard equipment or a promise that every combination can be ordered in every market.
Is the 2025 V12 Edition the same car?
No. The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition is a separate special edition that Mercedes-Benz Media first presented on September 23, 2025. The company said it would be limited to 50 vehicles in selected markets. That limited-run announcement should not be confused with the 2027 S 680 model announcement or read as the production limit for the S 680 itself. Not on the evidence available from Mercedes’ official announcements and product pages. The phrase works as an opinion about the S 680’s combination of a V12, rear-seat comfort, technology, and customization. Mercedes representatives have described the Maybach’s position and design in promotional terms, but those statements are the company’s view—not an independent comparison or measured luxury score. A defensible assessment of how it stacks up against other luxury sedans would require comparable independent testing and market-specific specifications.
