What the spy photos actually show
Auto Express published images on 24 June 2026 showing a camouflaged CLE 63 prototype, including a view with the bonnet open. The outlet said the visible engine appeared nearly identical to the one in the latest Mercedes-AMG S 63. That is an interpretation of the spy images, not a released factory specification. What engine is reported for the CLE 63?
Auto Express identified the engine shown in the photos as a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with flat-plane crankshaft technology. Separately, evo described the forthcoming CLE 63 as V8-powered. Taken together, the reports point to a V8, but Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed the final production specification in the material available here. Why the reports cannot tell us how it sounds
The coverage is based on still photographs and visual interpretation of the engine. Neither report provides an audio recording or a direct assessment of the prototype’s sound. The “not heard” part is literal: there is no sourced sound impression to report.

When could it arrive?
evo said rumors pointed to a launch toward the end of 2026. That is a reported rumor, not an official reveal or on-sale date. Pricing, market availability and final production details have not been established in these reports.
