For U.S. model year 2025, Mercedes-Benz’s compact SUV choices are the GLA, GLB and GLC. The GLA is the smallest five-seat option; the GLB prioritizes cabin flexibility and offers a third row on some configurations; and the GLC adds a plug-in-hybrid choice in the GLC 350e 4MATIC. AMG versions bring a separate, performance-focused set of choices.

They exclude any changes from selected equipment; compare the exact trim and build. In Mercedes model names, 4MATIC identifies an all-wheel-drive version. What does each 2025 Mercedes compact SUV offer?
GLA: the smallest, with five seats
The 2025 GLA 250 is a five-passenger SUV powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with mild-hybrid drive. Mercedes-Benz USA lists 221 hp, 258 lb-ft of torque and a maximum cargo capacity of 50.5 cu. ft. The published EPA fuel-economy figures for the listed GLA 250 configuration are 26 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Its stated overall length is 173.6 inches, with a 107.4-inch wheelbase. For 2025, Mercedes says the Surround View System 360-degree camera became a standalone option for the GLA. It is not standard on every vehicle. The AMG GLA 35 returned without equipment changes, according to the manufacturer’s model-year update.

GLB: cabin flexibility and an available third row
The GLB is the choice to investigate if passenger flexibility matters more than the GLA’s smaller footprint. Mercedes’ current U.S. GLB page describes a second row that slides, reclines and folds in a 40/20/40 split, plus an available 50/50-split third row and up to 62 cu. ft. of cargo space with the rear seats folded. It also lists 221 hp for the GLB 250. These are current-page descriptions, not verified specifications for every 2025 build; check the specific vehicle’s model-year equipment and seating configuration before relying on a capacity or seat count. For 2025, Mercedes added a Night Package Lite and made the Surround View System available as an individual option for the GLB. The AMG GLB 35 returned without equipment changes, per Mercedes’ model-year update.

GLC: conventional engines, plug-in hybrid and AMG choices
The 2025 GLC range starts with the GLC 300 and GLC 300 4MATIC. The lineup also adds the GLC 350e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid, for which Mercedes-Benz USA reports 54 miles of electric range. That published figure is specific to the plug-in hybrid; it is not an electric-range rating for the GLC 300 or AMG models, and it does not guarantee the distance a driver will achieve. The GLC 350e is most relevant if you can charge regularly and want some routine trips to be electric.
Mercedes says the 2025 GLC SUV series gained expanded standard equipment, including third-generation MBUX infotainment, a digital vehicle key, a center airbag between the front seats and a 5G communications module. Confirm equipment on the exact vehicle, since model-year changes do not mean every option is standard on every trim.

For performance-focused shoppers, the 2025 AMG GLC 43 and AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE are distinct alternatives to the conventional GLC models. Mercedes identifies the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE as the first SUV with its AMG-exclusive E PERFORMANCE hybrid technology, with 671 hp combined system output and 752 lb-ft combined system torque. Those are manufacturer-published figures, not independent test results.

How to choose between the GLA, GLB and GLC
- Decide how many seats you need in practice. The GLA is a five-seat choice. If you need the possibility of a third row, focus on a GLB build that includes it and verify the vehicle’s seating configuration.
- Match cargo space to the seats you will use. Ask for the cargo measurement with your usual passenger seats in place. A maximum figure with seats folded does not describe luggage space when those seats are occupied.
- Choose your powertrain and drivetrain. Consider the GLC 350e 4MATIC if regular charging suits your routine; compare conventional GLC options if it does not. Check whether the exact trim is 4MATIC if all-wheel drive is a requirement.
- Compare like with like on price and equipment. Use the exact trim, drivetrain and options in the quote. The 2025 MSRPs above are not a guide to present-day dealer pricing.
- Check the actual footprint. If parking space or maneuverability is decisive, compare dimensions for the specific models under consideration rather than inferring size from the family names.
What changed for model year 2025?
