Mercedes-Benz unveiled the all-electric VLE in Stuttgart on March 10, 2026, and Mercedes-Benz USA says it will appear on U.S. roads in 2027. It is best understood as a luxury electric MPV—Mercedes calls it a “Grand Limousine”—rather than a confirmed U.S.-market minivan name. The company says the configurable cabin can seat up to eight, but U.S. pricing, final specifications, EPA range and ordering details have not been announced.
Mercedes-Benz USA’s VLE page describes the concept as blending “limousine-like ride comfort” with MPV versatility. That combination puts the VLE in contention for family, executive-shuttle and leisure use when it reaches America.
When will the Mercedes VLE come to the United States?
Mercedes-Benz USA currently states that the VLE will appear on U.S. roads in 2027. That is the confirmed American timing in the cited official material. The page does not specify a U.S. order-opening date, customer-delivery schedule, dealer allocation or MSRP.
European rollout is already further along. Mercedes-Benz opened German orders in April 2026, and series production began at the company’s Vitoria, Spain, plant on June 12, 2026. Those milestones establish European availability, not U.S. ordering.

Before treating any dealer listing or imported vehicle as an American-market VLE, verify the information with Mercedes-Benz USA. Final U.S. trims, equipment, certification and delivery timing can differ from the German launch.

Is the VLE a minivan?
“Minivan” is a useful American shorthand for the VLE’s people-moving role, but Mercedes-Benz positions it as an all-electric MPV and Grand Limousine. The distinction matters because the U.S. version may receive different naming, trims and equipment from the vehicles described in European announcements.
Mercedes says the VLE is intended to combine premium ride comfort and handling with the flexibility expected of a multipurpose vehicle. The stated use cases include families, leisure travel and shuttle service.

How many seats does the electric VLE have?
Mercedes-Benz USA says the VLE can be configured for up to eight seats. The company also highlights adjustable seating and a comfort-focused passenger compartment. The cited U.S. page does not yet publish a complete seat-layout chart, cargo measurements or a final American configuration list.
That flexibility should make the VLE relevant to buyers who alternate between carrying passengers and using the vehicle for luggage or equipment, but exact layouts will need to be confirmed when U.S. specifications are released.

What are the VLE’s battery, charging and range claims?
U.S.-market technology highlights
The Mercedes-Benz USA feature page lists an 800-volt electrical architecture and a 115-kWh battery. It does not provide a U.S. EPA range rating or a final U.S. charging-time figure.
European WLTP estimate
Launch material gives the VLE 300 a preliminary range of more than 700 km on the WLTP cycle. That is a European test-cycle estimate, not a U.S. EPA rating; EPA range is typically reported differently and should not be inferred from the kilometer figure.

The German order announcement lists combined energy consumption of 20.7–18.4 kWh/100 km for the VLE 300 electric. These are manufacturer-published European figures for the stated configuration, not an independent test.
VLE 400 4MATIC
Mercedes announced a more powerful VLE 400 4MATIC for German ordering in September 2026. The company cites 310 kW, acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and up to 654 km WLTP. Mercedes labels the range and consumption values provisional and says recognized official testing and type approval were not yet available for those figures.
Neither the VLE 300 launch data nor the VLE 400 announcement establishes U.S. EPA range, U.S. trim availability or American pricing.

What should American shoppers watch for?
- EPA certification: Wait for an official U.S. range rating rather than converting WLTP numbers.
- Seat and cargo layouts: Confirm whether the up-to-eight-seat flexibility and adjustable-seat options carry over unchanged.
- Charging specifications: The 800-volt architecture is confirmed as a feature highlight, but U.S.-specific charging power and times remain unpublished.
- Pricing and trims: Do not extrapolate German prices or equipment to the United States.
- Ordering and allocation: A 2027 road-arrival statement is not the same as an open U.S. order bank or guaranteed delivery date.
Bottom line for the American market
The VLE is a real Mercedes-Benz electric people mover headed for the United States, with Mercedes-Benz USA targeting roads in 2027 and seating for up to eight. Its luxury-MPV positioning, 115-kWh battery highlight and 800-volt architecture make it a notable alternative to conventional gasoline minivans. Until Mercedes publishes U.S. pricing, EPA range, trims and ordering instructions, buyers should treat the European WLTP and performance figures as informative—not as final American specifications.
