The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed began as a concept previewing the first car in Mercedes-Benz’s Mythos series. The production model was unveiled in December 2024 and is limited to 250 examples. It is a roofless, windshield-free two-seater built around an unusual occupant-protection structure called HALO.
From Monaco concept to the first Mythos production model
Mercedes-Benz revealed the PureSpeed concept in Monaco on 22 May 2024, ahead of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The company described it as a preview of the first Mythos model: a radical, fully open two-seat performance car without a roof or windshield. Mercedes-Benz’s concept announcement
On 7 December 2024, Mercedes-Benz presented the production PureSpeed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and identified it as the first model in the Mythos series. The concept was therefore a preview; the December reveal established the production car as the series’ first model. Mercedes-Benz’s production announcement
That distinction remains relevant: in a 27 January 2026 update about a second Mythos vehicle entering cold-weather testing, Mercedes-Benz still called PureSpeed the first Mythos model. Mercedes-Benz’s 2026 update

What the 250-example limit means
Mercedes-Benz says the PureSpeed limited series is restricted to 250 examples. The company stated that limit in its August 2024 development update and repeated it at the production announcement. This is the announced production cap; it does not establish how many cars have been built, delivered, or remain available. Development update · Production announcement
Current price, delivery timing, remaining allocation, and present availability are not established by those announcements. The 250-unit figure alone cannot answer whether a buyer can still obtain one.

A two-seat cockpit without a roof or windshield
The defining feature is the open cockpit: the PureSpeed has neither a conventional roof nor a windshield. A HALO structure replaces the conventional A-pillar. Mercedes-AMG says the structure is intended to protect occupants in an accident; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent safety assessment. Mercedes-Benz’s concept announcement
Two specially designed helmets are part of the concept’s open-air setup. In its August 2024 development update, Mercedes-AMG said the helmets were aerodynamically optimized and designed and produced exclusively for PureSpeed. Mercedes-AMG’s development update

Development, equipment, and manufacturer figures
Prototype development
In an update dated 28 August 2024, Mercedes-AMG said PureSpeed prototypes were in final development testing and that the programme had covered more than 3,000 kilometres. That distance describes the manufacturer’s development testing, not the car’s range or a performance result. Mercedes-AMG’s development update
Supplied equipment and cabin features
The production announcement lists a PureSpeed-specific wet-weather cover and a tailored AMG indoor car cover as equipment provided to customers. It does not establish that either cover, or the bespoke helmets, is sold separately or is compatible with other vehicles. The same announcement names an IWC Schaffhausen-designed dashboard clock and a Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System with 15 speakers and 1,170 watts. Mercedes-Benz’s production announcement

German-market WLTP figures
