Koenigsegg describes the Gemera as its first four-seater: a limited-production Mega-GT that pairs a V8 with an electric motor in its current production-form specification. The company quotes combined output of 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm, but its published material does not establish a measured top speed or verify the claim that it is the world’s fastest four-seater.
What the Koenigsegg Gemera is
The Gemera is Koenigsegg’s first four-seat model, designed as a two-door, B-pillarless coupe. Koenigsegg says it can seat four adults and accommodate carry-on luggage; its technical specifications list 200 L of total trunk volume. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not the result of an independent cabin or luggage test. Koenigsegg’s current model overview
The company calls it a Mega-GT, bringing together the performance character of a mid-engine two-seater with the practicality of four seats. That positioning is more useful than treating the Gemera as simply a conventional family car with an extraordinary engine: its defining idea is high performance packaged for four occupants.
Why “fastest four-seater on earth” needs a qualification
Koenigsegg’s current overview claims 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm for the Gemera’s V8-and-Dark-Matter configuration. Those figures make it an exceptionally powerful four-seat car on paper, but horsepower alone does not establish a top-speed record. The manufacturer material cited here gives no measured top speed and no comparative record showing that the Gemera is the fastest four-seater on earth. The headline phrase should therefore be read as a claim, not a verified record.

How the Gemera changed between concept and production form
The Gemera first appeared as a concept in 2020. Koenigsegg says the production-form car was revealed in July 2023, and identifies the 2023 Client Specification as the version that introduced the Hot-Vee V8, Dark Matter electric motor and Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission. The distinction matters because older and newer official pages describe different powertrains.
| Configuration | Engine and motor | Transmission and drive | Output stated by Koenigsegg |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 concept-era configuration | Three-cylinder Tiny Friendly Giant engine with an earlier hybrid arrangement, as described on Koenigsegg’s legacy technical page | The current historical overview does not give a complete comparison of transmission and drive details for this configuration | Not stated here as a directly comparable combined-output figure; do not combine legacy-page figures with the current configuration |
| 2023 Client Specification / current model overview | Hot-Vee V8 and Dark Matter electric motor | Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission introduced with the 2023 Client Specification; the sources cited here do not provide a complete configuration-by-configuration drive-system comparison | 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm combined, according to Koenigsegg’s current model overview |
Koenigsegg’s history page describes the concept-to-production timeline and the 2023 specification change. The earlier technical-specification page still describes the Tiny Friendly Giant-era setup, so it should not be read as the specification for the current V8/Dark Matter model.
What the V8 and Dark Matter motor contribute
The current model overview attributes 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm of combined output to the Hot-Vee V8 and Dark Matter combination. Koenigsegg separately rates the Dark Matter six-phase electric motor at 800 hp and 1,250 Nm, and calls it the world’s most powerful automotive-grade e-motor. Both the output and the superlative are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements. Koenigsegg’s Dark Matter description
The separate motor rating is not an additional amount to add to the combined system figure: it describes the electric motor on its own, while the 2,300-hp figure is Koenigsegg’s stated output for the combined powertrain.

Four-seat practicality and published specifications
Beyond the powertrain, the Gemera’s unusual proposition is that it has four seats while retaining a two-door coupe body. Koenigsegg describes the cabin as suitable for four adults and says there is room for carry-on luggage. The published trunk capacity is 200 L total; the sources do not establish how much luggage that volume accommodates in real use.

What to take away from the Gemera’s specs
- It is Koenigsegg’s first four-seat model, presented as a two-door Mega-GT.
- The current manufacturer-described configuration pairs a Hot-Vee V8 with the Dark Matter electric motor and is rated at 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm combined.
- The car evolved from a 2020 concept with a different powertrain; the 2023 Client Specification brought the V8, Dark Matter and Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission into the production-form story.
- Koenigsegg states a planned run of 300 cars, but the sources cited do not verify deliveries or the “fastest four-seater” record.
