McLaren revealed the W1 on 6 October 2024 as the latest car in its “1” lineage, positioning it as a successor to both the F1 and the P1. The company describes a hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 1,275 PS. McLaren’s 2024 interim report said 399 customer cars were planned, all allocated at that time, with deliveries forecast to begin in 2026.
How the W1 fits McLaren’s “1” lineage
McLaren’s announcement frames the W1 as the next chapter after two landmark cars: the F1 and the P1. Calling it a P1 successor is therefore accurate, but incomplete on its own—the W1 is presented as carrying forward the wider F1/P1 lineage. McLaren revealed the car on 6 October 2024, according to its Q3 2024 interim report and its W1 materials.

Hybrid powertrain output
McLaren states that the W1’s combined output is 1,275 PS. This is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not an independently measured result. The company’s performance overview presents the powertrain and performance details.
Planned customer production and delivery timing
McLaren Holdings Limited’s 2024 interim report said: “Just 399 customer cars will be produced, with all already customer allocated.” The report also forecast that deliveries would commence in 2026. These are statements and a forecast in that 2024 report; they do not confirm whether deliveries have since begun.

Full-size W1, LEGO set and collector model: what differs
The full-size W1 is a limited-production hybrid road car. The LEGO and Amalgam products are physical scale models for building, play, display or collecting—not performance alternatives to the car.
