The Mazda CX-5 was the brand’s best-selling SUV in the United States in calendar year 2024, with 134,088 units reported. The CX-30 ranked second, followed by the CX-50, CX-90 and CX-70. Here, “popularity” means reported sales volume—not owner satisfaction or a verdict on which SUV is best.
Which Mazda SUV sold the most in 2024?
The CX-5 led Mazda’s current SUV lineup in U.S. calendar-year sales, according to Mazda North American Operations’ January 3, 2025 year-end sales release. The figures below are reported U.S. units, not global sales or model-year totals.

Mazda reported 424,382 total U.S. vehicle sales for 2024, up 16.8% from 2023. Its release also lists four CX-9 sales; the ranking above covers the five models in Mazda’s current-model navigation rather than treating the legacy CX-9 as a current-lineup entry.
How far ahead was the CX-5?
The CX-5’s 134,088 sales put it 37,573 units ahead of the second-place CX-30. The CX-30 recorded 96,515 sales, while the CX-50 placed third with 81,441.

CX-50 versus CX-90
The CX-50 outsold the CX-90 by 26,765 units in the reported U.S. 2024 comparison: 81,441 versus 54,676. Mazda’s CX-50 total includes 2,890 CX-50 Hybrid sales, so those hybrid units are already counted and should not be added again.
CX-70’s launch-year context
The CX-70 recorded 10,678 U.S. sales. Mazda introduced the model in 2024, so its calendar-year total reflects a new-model launch period; it is not a like-for-like measure of market tenure against the other SUVs.
