There is no independently verified, single real-world range figure for either the Maruthisan MS 3.0 or the VLF Strada. The MS 3.0 is advertised at 130 km on Maruthisan’s current product page, while its owner manual states 140 km per charge under the AIS 040 test procedure. Secondary listings show different battery variants, 140–160 km claims, and a weakly documented 67 km user-reported figure. The VLF Strada is offered as a City with a 2.16 kWh battery and a 130 km IDC claim, or a Max with 4.32 kWh and a 250 km IDC claim. Those are test-cycle or manufacturer figures, not guarantees for an everyday trip.
The dependable answer for your scooter comes from a repeatable measurement: identify the exact variant, start with a full charge, record distance and charge consumed on representative rides, and repeat the calculation under similar conditions.

What the published figures actually establish
Range numbers are meaningful only when you know which vehicle, battery, procedure and source produced them. The available material does not provide a matched, controlled test of the two scooters in the same route and weather. Use the table as a map of claims, not as a ranking of everyday performance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Vehicle or variant | Battery information | Published distance | Basis and limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maruthisan MS 3.0, current product page | Page includes inconsistent generic or placeholder specifications; the captured material does not establish one battery for the 130 km figure. | 130 km | Manufacturer product-page claim, accessed in 2026. It is not identified as a measured owner result. |
| Maruthisan MS 3.0, owner manual | 72 V / 40 Ah at C5 rating | 140 km per charge | The manual says “as per CMVR standard AIS 040 test procedure.” Its publication year is not established; the hosting path is a 2025 upload. |
| Maruthisan MS 3.0 listings summarized by ZigWheels | 60 V / 30 Ah (1.8 kWh) and 72 V / 30 Ah (2.16 kWh) variants | 140–160 km claimed; 67 km/charge shown as the most commonly user-reported figure | Secondary listing dated 2026. The 67 km entry has no stated sample size, route, weather, speed, charging method or test protocol, so it is only a weak indicator. |
| VLF Strada City | 2.16 kWh, single-battery configuration | 130 km IDC | Launch coverage by Autocar India on October 12, 2026. IDC is a test-cycle claim, not a measured everyday distance. |
| VLF Strada Max | 4.32 kWh, dual-battery configuration | 250 km IDC | Autocar India’s October 12, 2026 launch report. This must not be presented as the range of every Strada. |
These values cannot be blended into one “MS 3.0 versus Strada” winner. The MS 3.0 sources disagree with one another, and the two Strada variants have different battery capacities and published distances.

Why a test-cycle number is not your commute
A certified or manufacturer range is produced under a defined procedure. The MS 3.0 manual explicitly ties 140 km to AIS 040. The Strada figures are identified as IDC values in launch coverage. Such procedures make vehicles comparable within the limits of the procedure, but they do not recreate every rider’s traffic, hills, acceleration, load or temperature.
The International Council on Clean Transportation’s India electric two-wheeler analysis notes that certified test-cycle range can differ materially from real-world range. Its analysis uses manufacturer middle-mode range as a proxy; it does not test the MS 3.0 or either Strada variant. That distinction matters: an analytical proxy is not an independent result for your scooter.
Do not apply an invented percentage correction for speed, hills, payload, temperature or battery age. The available sources identify these as sensible controls for a measurement, but do not quantify their effect on these two models.

Range calculations fail most often when a rider records the badge but not the configuration. Complete these checks before riding.
- Record model and model year. Write “MS 3.0” or “Strada,” then add the model year shown on the vehicle documents or supplied by the authorized seller.
- Record battery capacity and voltage from the label. For an MS 3.0, do not assume that a 72 V/40 Ah manual specification describes every current unit: ZigWheels lists 60 V/30 Ah and 72 V/30 Ah variants. For a Strada, mark City (2.16 kWh, single battery) or Max (4.32 kWh, dual battery).
- Photograph or transcribe the battery and charger labels. Include rated voltage, amp-hours or kilowatt-hours, and any serial or variant identifier. This prevents a later comparison between unlike scooters.
- Keep the current manual with the record. The MS 3.0 manual, the current product page and secondary listings do not agree on all specifications. Treat the documentation supplied with your actual unit as the starting point, then note any discrepancy rather than silently choosing the most favorable number.
Measure one representative trip from a full charge
The following procedure produces an estimate for your routes, not a laboratory certification. Use the vehicle’s specified charging process and do not alter the battery or charger to make the result look better.

- 100% Satisfaction: Our products have quality assurance, if you have questions or are not satisfied after receiving the product, don't worry, please contact us as soon as possible, we provide after-sales service.
- Charge fully. Follow the scooter’s charging sequence and the manual’s instructions. Wait for the indicator to show the vehicle’s defined full state. Record the date, start time and odometer reading. If the dashboard reports a predicted range, copy it as a separate observation; it is not a measured distance.
- Choose a representative route. Ride the roads, traffic mix and stop frequency that describe the use you are trying to plan for. A short, unusually flat, empty-road loop should not be used to promise a city commuter’s range.
- Log operating conditions. Record selected mode, approximate cruising speed, elapsed time, passenger or cargo load, elevation pattern, traffic density and weather or temperature when available. The Strada offers Eco up to 45 km/h, City up to 65 km/h and Sport up to 85 km/h; record the mode rather than assuming all three produce the same distance.
- End the trip with the same instruments. Record the odometer, trip distance, remaining state-of-charge indication and end time. Note any warning, reduced-power behavior or unusual stop.
- Record charging used. If your charger or vehicle provides an energy reading, save it. Otherwise record the displayed state-of-charge change and describe how that indicator is shown. A percentage display is not guaranteed to be linear.
- Repeat. Perform several trips in comparable conditions. Keep each observation instead of replacing it with a single average, because the spread shows how sensitive the estimate is to normal variation.
Calculate an estimate without overstating precision
When you know the fraction of charge consumed, use:
estimated range = observed distance ÷ fraction of charge consumed
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For example, 40 km ridden while the displayed charge falls by 50% gives 40 ÷ 0.50 = approximately 80 km under similar conditions. This is arithmetic based on an observed trip, not a vehicle test result. Label it as an estimate and retain the original 40 km and 50% observations.
If the indicator moves in large steps, pauses, or is known to be nonlinear, treat the calculation as provisional. A half-charge reading near the top of the battery may not represent exactly half the usable energy. A partial trip that ends before the scooter reaches its low-charge warning also does not prove that the same rate will continue to empty.
For repeated rides, calculate each trip separately first. Then report the range of results, such as “three comparable trips produced estimates from X to Y km,” rather than hiding the spread behind a falsely exact single number. Do not extrapolate a very short ride to a full battery without stating that the sample is short and partial.

Use a log that another rider can audit
A simple record makes your conclusion reproducible and exposes changes in conditions.
| Field | What to enter | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle identity | Model, model year, variant, battery voltage and capacity | Prevents mixing MS 3.0 configurations or Strada City and Max. |
| Charge start | Date, time, odometer, full-charge confirmation | Defines the starting point for distance and charge use. |
| Trip | Distance, elapsed time and route description | Shows whether the ride represents normal use. |
| Operating setup | Mode, approximate speed, rider/passenger/cargo load | Allows a later comparison under similar conditions. |
| Environment | Weather or temperature, traffic and elevation pattern | Documents conditions without assigning an unsupported correction. |
| Charge end | Remaining state of charge, odometer and any warnings | Provides the second point for the estimate. |
| Result | Distance, fraction consumed and calculated estimate | Keeps observed data separate from the extrapolated figure. |
Use the same route and start/end charging method when comparing two scooters. If one ride begins at 100% indicated charge and the other begins after an automatic charger stop or a different display threshold, the comparison is not controlled.
How to interpret the conflicting MS 3.0 information
The 130 km product-page figure
Maruthisan’s current MS 3.0 page advertises 130 km. Because that page also contains inconsistent generic or placeholder specifications, quote the 130 km only as the page’s manufacturer claim. Do not attach it to a battery capacity that the page does not clearly identify.
The 140 km AIS 040 manual figure
The owner manual states 140 km per charge and explicitly says the figure follows the CMVR standard AIS 040 test procedure. The manual lists 72 V / 40 Ah at a C5 rating, but that specification does not match the 30 Ah variants listed by ZigWheels. The manual’s original publication year is not established; a 2025 upload path is not proof that the document was first issued in 2025. Confirm the battery label and current documentation for your scooter before using the manual’s number.
The 140–160 km listings and 67 km user-reported entry
ZigWheels summarizes 60 V/30 Ah and 72 V/30 Ah versions and shows 140–160 km/charge claims. The same page presents 67 km/charge as the most commonly user-reported range in its 2026 material. No sample size, route, mode, load, weather, state-of-charge method or test protocol is supplied for that 67 km entry. It cannot be called a verified real-world test or a universal MS 3.0 result. At most, it signals that some reported use may fall well below the headline claims and deserves a properly documented measurement.

How to interpret the VLF Strada City and Max
City: 2.16 kWh and 130 km IDC
The City is the single-battery Strada configuration identified in launch coverage. Its 130 km figure is an IDC claim. Use it as a standardized reference for that variant, not as a promise that a loaded urban trip will cover 130 km.
Max: 4.32 kWh and 250 km IDC
The Max uses two batteries totaling 4.32 kWh in the same coverage and is assigned a 250 km IDC claim. It is a different range case from the City. A comparison that says only “Strada: 250 km” silently assigns the Max’s number to a model that also has a smaller-battery version.
Mode and speed records
Autocar India’s launch report lists three modes: Eco with a maximum speed of 45 km/h, City at 65 km/h and Sport at 85 km/h. These limits explain why mode belongs in your log. The source does not quantify a kilometre or percentage penalty for choosing City or Sport, so do not invent one.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Compare the scooters on equal terms
A fair comparison uses the same evidence category on both sides. Pair a measured MS 3.0 trip with a measured Strada trip, or compare their published test-cycle claims while clearly labeling the procedures. Do not compare a rider-observed number for one scooter with an IDC or AIS 040 number for the other and call the difference a performance advantage.
| Comparison axis | What to match or report |
|---|---|
| Exact variant | MS 3.0 battery label and model year; Strada City or Max. |
| Energy storage | Voltage and amp-hours where documented, or kilowatt-hours for Strada; note any source conflict. |
| Range basis | AIS 040, IDC, manufacturer claim or rider-observed trip. |
| Mode and speed | Selected mode and approximate speed profile; never infer a mode penalty that has not been measured. |
| Route | Distance, hills, traffic, stop frequency and road surface. |
| Load | Rider, passenger and cargo configuration. |
| Charge measurement | Full-charge definition, start/end state of charge and any energy reading. |
| Repeatability | Number of trips and the spread between estimates. |
On the evidence available, no model-versus-model real-world winner can be established. The correct conclusion is conditional: a particular MS 3.0 or Strada variant may suit your route, but you need comparable measurements to know which one reaches your destination with your reserve.

Troubleshoot a result that looks wrong
The calculated range is far below the claim
First check identity and arithmetic: verify the battery variant, confirm that the charge fraction is recorded from the same display state, and make sure the trip was not unusually short or unusually demanding. Review mode, speed, load, traffic, hills and weather in the log. Do not “correct” the result by adding a fixed percentage unless you have repeated measurements supporting that correction.
Two trips differ widely
Look for changed route, elevation, traffic, passenger or cargo, mode and starting charge. A wide spread is useful information about your use case. Repeat with the variables held as close as practical, then report the spread instead of selecting the most favorable trip.
The dashboard prediction conflicts with measured distance
Keep the prediction and the measured calculation as separate fields. A predicted range is an estimate generated by the vehicle; it is not the odometer distance you have already covered. Repeated observations under similar conditions are the stronger basis for planning.
The manual and vehicle label disagree
Stop the comparison and document the discrepancy. Capture the label, manual revision or publication details, and seller-provided variant information. For the MS 3.0, this check is essential because the 72 V/40 Ah C5 manual specification differs from the 30 Ah variants listed by ZigWheels.
How to publish or share your own result responsibly
State the exact scooter and battery, the date, starting charge, route, mode, approximate speed, load, weather, distance, ending charge and number of repeats. Use wording such as “my estimate was approximately 80 km under these conditions,” not “this scooter goes 80 km.” If you cite a published number, identify whether it is a manufacturer claim, AIS 040, IDC or an owner-reported figure, and preserve the variant distinction.
A useful report separates three layers:
- Observed: the distance ridden and charge indication consumed.
- Calculated: the arithmetic estimate derived from those observations.
- Context: route, mode, speed, load, weather and repeat count.
That format lets another rider judge whether your estimate resembles their use instead of treating it as a universal specification.
Practical decision rule
If you are choosing between these scooters, begin with the route rather than the largest advertised number. Confirm the exact MS 3.0 battery or the Strada City/Max variant, then compare measurements made on the same kind of trip. Keep a reserve for an unplanned detour because neither the 130 km MS 3.0 page claim, the 140 km AIS 040 manual figure, the 67 km ZigWheels user-reported entry, nor the Strada’s 130 km and 250 km IDC figures tells you exactly how far your particular ride will go.
