The Mammoth Overland SKL is a hard-sided rooftop camper—not a towable trailer—with a published base weight of 300 pounds and an $11,500 starting price. Mammoth lists a small 6 Ah battery as standard, with upgrades to one 104 Ah or two 104 Ah solid-state lithium iron phosphate batteries. Those figures describe the manufacturer’s configurations; they do not establish vehicle fit or electrical runtime.
What the Mammoth Overland SKL is
Mammoth describes the SKL as a hard-sided rooftop camper, designed to mount on a vehicle rather than be towed. Its product page says the shell uses riveted aluminum in a monocoque-style construction, with R5 insulation between the inner and outer skins. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent construction or durability test. Mammoth Overland’s SKL product page calls it a hard-sided rooftop tent; the reservation page describes it as a rooftop camper that needs no towing. The SKL reservation page
The distinction matters for vehicle planning: the SKL’s listed weight sits on the roof, and a buyer must account for the mounting system and the vehicle’s own roof-load limits. It is not a trailer whose load is carried by a hitch.
SKL dimensions, weight and sleeping space
Mammoth publishes these dimensions and weights for the SKL. The manufacturer does not specify whether dimensions include mounting hardware.

How to check whether the SKL fits your vehicle
The published dimensions and weight are useful for screening, but Mammoth’s cited pages do not identify approved vehicles, required crossbars, mounting geometry or vehicle-specific roof limits. A general claim that the SKL fits a particular model would therefore go beyond the available specifications.

- Keeps your tent mud free
- 4 compartments to organize shoes and camp gear
- Mesh storage pockets manage smaller items
- Water proof fabric to keep your boots dry when it's raining outside
- Provides easy access to shoes when inside the tent
- Check the vehicle manual. Find the roof-load limit and determine whether it applies while driving, while parked, or both. Do not substitute the SKL rack’s capacity for the vehicle’s limit.
- Ask Mammoth about the mounting setup. Confirm compatible rack or crossbar type, required spacing and mounting hardware for your vehicle and the SKL.
- Calculate the complete installed load. Include the camper in the battery configuration you intend to buy, rack, mounting hardware and any other roof cargo. Compare the relevant total with the vehicle manufacturer’s limits.
- Get confirmation for your exact vehicle. Provide Mammoth with the vehicle’s year, make, model and roof configuration, and ask the vehicle manufacturer or dealer to confirm the applicable roof-load rating.
