Short answer: Mahindra’s current XUV 3XO variant selector and technical brochure do not list a factory-built CNG version. The documented choice is between petrol and diesel powertrains, so there is no manufacturer-backed XUV 3XO CNG price, mileage figure, CNG break-even calculation or separate CNG boot measurement to compare with petrol.
For the petrol XUV 3XO, Mahindra publishes 364 litres of boot space, measured according to ISO V215. Its 29 April 2024 launch release lists ARAI-certified efficiency of 20.1 km/l for the TGDi manual, 18.2 km/l for the TGDi automatic, 18.89 km/l for the TCMPFi manual and 17.96 km/l for the TCMPFi automatic. Those are certification figures, not owner-reported fuel economy and not CNG results.

That distinction matters if you are trying to estimate payback. A CNG calculation needs an actual CNG configuration, its acquisition or conversion cost, verified consumption and a measured luggage layout. None of those XUV 3XO CNG-specific inputs is published in the official material reviewed, so a precise saving-per-kilometre claim would be misleading.
Does the Mahindra XUV 3XO come in CNG?
Not as a factory variant in the Mahindra material currently available for the model. The online selector displays eight petrol XUV 3XO variants. Mahindra’s technical brochure lists two 1.2-litre petrol engines—TCMPFi and TGDi—and a 1.5-litre CRDe diesel, with petrol and diesel combinations in its variant table. No CNG engine, CNG tank layout or CNG trim appears in those lists.

That supports a precise conclusion: the official sources checked do not list a factory XUV 3XO CNG. It does not establish whether Mahindra could introduce one later, nor does it validate an aftermarket conversion. A converted vehicle would be a different configuration from the factory petrol car and would need its own documentation for certification, insurance, warranty treatment, luggage capacity and fuel consumption.
Be wary of listings or social-media posts that use a CNG badge, a dealer package or a generic “CNG available” search label as proof of factory equipment. The relevant question is whether the exact vehicle identification, powertrain and warranty documents come from Mahindra and match the car being sold. In the official selector and brochure examined here, that evidence is absent.
What Mahindra actually publishes for the XUV 3XO
| Item | Published information | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Factory fuel choices | Petrol and diesel are listed; no CNG variant appears | There is no official CNG-versus-petrol trim comparison to price or test |
| Petrol engine families | 1.2-litre TCMPFi and 1.2-litre TGDi | Transmission and engine choice affect the certified petrol figure |
| Diesel engine family | 1.5-litre CRDe | The brochure identifies it, but the cited launch release does not provide a diesel efficiency figure in this comparison |
| Boot space | 364 litres, measured as per ISO V215 | This is the published vehicle figure; no separate factory-CNG capacity is stated |
| Current entry price checked | MX1 petrol: ₹7,79,000 ex-showroom on 13 October 2026 | It is not an on-road quote or a CNG price; Mahindra says selector prices are indicative and delivery-time prices prevail |
| Launch-price context | Mahindra’s 29 April 2024 release said the XUV 3XO started at ₹7.49 lakh | This is historical launch wording, not a current payable amount |
The table separates facts that can be quoted from questions that remain unanswered. For example, the 364-litre figure applies to the vehicle specification Mahindra publishes; it cannot automatically be transferred to a petrol car after a tank has been installed. Similarly, the MX1 display is a dated ex-showroom reference, not an on-road invoice and not evidence that a CNG trim exists.

Petrol mileage: the four certified figures
Mahindra’s launch release dated 29 April 2024 reports the following petrol figures under ARAI certification:
| Engine and transmission | ARAI figure | What the number does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| TGDi manual | 20.1 km/l | It is not a guaranteed real-world result and has no corresponding XUV 3XO CNG test figure |
| TGDi automatic | 18.2 km/l | Traffic, driving style, load and weather can produce different consumption |
| TCMPFi manual | 18.89 km/l | The certification result should not be treated as an owner average |
| TCMPFi automatic | 17.96 km/l | It is a petrol certification value, not a CNG comparison |
ARAI figures are useful for comparing the listed petrol configurations under a standardized certification process. They are not a promise that every driver will achieve the same number. The release supplies no XUV 3XO CNG consumption figure and no independent petrol-versus-CNG road test, so assigning a CNG km/kg number would be guesswork.
The spread between the highest and lowest listed petrol claims is 2.14 km/l, and the transmission pairing is part of the explanation: each engine family has a separate manual and automatic figure. That makes it reasonable to compare petrol trims with one another, but not to infer how either engine would perform after a conversion. A conversion can alter calibration, tank weight and packaging, so the petrol certification result should remain a petrol baseline only.
How to calculate running cost without inventing a CNG result
A fuel-cost comparison requires three inputs for each fuel: the price paid, the measured consumption unit and the distance driven. For petrol, the basic calculation is:

fuel cost per kilometre = petrol price per litre ÷ actual kilometres per litre
annual fuel cost = annual kilometres × fuel cost per kilometre
Use your own receipts or a consistent tank-to-tank log for “actual kilometres per litre.” The four ARAI figures can serve as a standardized comparison between petrol engine and transmission choices, but they should not be mixed with a claimed CNG figure from a different vehicle, conversion or test method.
For a useful household worksheet, record the odometer at each fill, litres purchased, fuel price, route type and load. Keep manual and automatic cars separate, and do not combine short urban trips with long highway runs into a single number unless that reflects your normal use. If two drivers share the car, note who drove and whether the air conditioner was used heavily. These controls do not create an official mileage figure; they simply make your own comparison less prone to memory errors.
A genuine XUV 3XO CNG break-even calculation would additionally need the conversion or vehicle price premium, CNG price in your location, verified CNG consumption, petrol consumption under the same conditions, maintenance assumptions and any change in usable cargo space. None of those CNG-specific XUV 3XO inputs is published in the material available here. The honest result is therefore “not calculable,” rather than a made-up saving per kilometre or payback distance.
If a dealer later supplies all of those inputs, calculate the premium first, then divide it by the verified saving per kilometre. State whether the premium includes installation, taxes, certification, insurance changes and any required inspection. A payback result that leaves out those costs can look attractive while understating the distance required to recover the investment.
What to record if you are comparing a converted car
- Obtain the exact conversion system, installer and vehicle documentation rather than relying on a generic CNG estimate.
- Ask for consumption measured on the same route and load used for the petrol baseline, with the units clearly stated.
- Confirm how the tank is mounted and what luggage volume remains; do not substitute the factory 364-litre figure for a converted layout.
- Check, in writing, how the conversion affects warranty, insurance, registration and servicing for your jurisdiction.
- Compare total ownership cost, not only fuel price: acquisition, installation, inspections, service and resale assumptions all matter.
- Keep invoices for the conversion and subsequent inspections, since future owners, insurers or authorities may need configuration records.
Boot space: 364 litres, with an important measurement qualification
Mahindra specifies 364 litres for XUV 3XO boot space. The technical brochure identifies the measurement as being according to ISO V215, so the figure is a standardized manufacturer specification rather than an informal estimate from a photograph or a dealer description.

That is the applicable published figure for the vehicle configuration described by Mahindra. There is no second, CNG-specific capacity in the cited brochure or selector. If a tank is added to a petrol vehicle, its location and installation determine how much floor, under-floor or vertical space remains; without a measured layout, quoting a litre figure would mislead buyers.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteISO V215 gives the published number a consistent measurement basis, but litres alone do not answer every practical luggage question. A tall stroller, a broad suitcase or a high loading lip can matter more than the headline volume. The shape of the available space, the parcel shelf and the ability to fold or use the rear seats should be checked on the exact car.
How to check the space you actually need
- Measure the largest suitcase, stroller or equipment case you normally carry, including its height and wheel width.
- Visit the exact XUV 3XO trim and place that item in the luggage area rather than judging from the published litres alone.
- Check whether the rear seats, parcel shelf and loading lip work for your routine use.
- Ask whether the spare-wheel or under-floor arrangement differs on the exact configuration being shown.
- If considering any CNG conversion, inspect the converted car with the tank installed and repeat the same loading test.
Do not let a dealer demonstrate a petrol car and then assume the same floor is available after conversion. Photographing the empty luggage area is not a substitute for measuring it with the tank, brackets and protective covers fitted.
Price context: petrol is documented; a CNG price is not
The official MX1 petrol product page displayed ₹7,79,000 ex-showroom when checked on 13 October 2026. Ex-showroom excludes costs such as registration, insurance and other on-road charges. Mahindra’s selector also warns that displayed prices are indicative, subject to change, and that the price applicable at delivery prevails.
Mahindra’s 2024 launch release described the XUV 3XO as starting at ₹7.49 lakh. That was a launch-period company statement, not a current on-road price and not evidence of a CNG version. The difference between that launch figure and the later MX1 page illustrates why buyers should verify the selected trim and delivery-time price before calculating a budget.

| Price reference | Amount and date | Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Launch statement | Starting at ₹7.49 lakh, quoted in Mahindra’s 29 April 2024 release | Historical launch wording; it does not specify a CNG model or today’s payable amount |
| MX1 petrol product page | ₹7,79,000 ex-showroom, checked 13 October 2026 | Indicative ex-showroom price; final delivery-time price and on-road total can differ |
When comparing any proposed conversion with that price, keep like with like. A petrol ex-showroom amount should not be compared with a CNG conversion quote that includes installation but excludes registration, insurance or taxes. Request an itemized written quotation for the exact trim, then identify which line items are fixed and which can change by delivery.
Petrol engine and transmission trade-offs
If your decision is really about the available XUV 3XO powertrains, the documented petrol choices are easier to compare than a hypothetical CNG model:

| 1.2-litre TGDi manual | 20.1 km/l | Do you want the highest listed petrol certification figure and manual control? |
| 1.2-litre TGDi automatic | 18.2 km/l | Is automatic convenience worth accepting the lower listed figure than the TGDi manual? |
| 1.2-litre TCMPFi manual | 18.89 km/l | Does this engine and manual combination fit your performance, price and driving needs? |
| 1.2-litre TCMPFi automatic | 17.96 km/l | Do you prioritize two-pedal driving while accepting the lowest listed petrol figure? |
The table ranks certified petrol figures only. It does not rank acceleration, refinement, reliability, maintenance cost or real-world economy because the cited Mahindra figures do not establish those outcomes. The brochure’s 1.5-litre CRDe diesel is a separate alternative, but a diesel efficiency number is not included in the cited launch data, so it should not be assigned one here.
For a buyer who spends most time in traffic, the automatic-versus-manual choice may matter more day to day than the difference between the certified figures. For a highway-heavy user, luggage testing, route comfort and the ability to obtain a suitable dealer demonstration may carry more weight. Those are personal decision criteria, not claims that one engine is universally cheaper or better.
Trade-offs for a buyer asking specifically about CNG
If your priority is a documented factory specification
Choose among the listed petrol or diesel variants and use Mahindra’s published boot, price and petrol certification information. This route gives you a manufacturer-defined configuration rather than requiring assumptions about a tank, calibration or post-sale support.
If your priority is the lowest possible fuel spend
Do not decide from the word “CNG” alone. A lower fuel price can be outweighed by an installation cost, reduced luggage practicality, different servicing requirements or an uncertain resale position. Collect matching, documented consumption and ownership costs before treating a conversion as cheaper.
If your priority is maximum luggage flexibility
Start with the 364-litre factory specification and test your own cargo. Treat any converted layout as unverified until you have physically inspected the tank placement and loaded the equipment you carry.
If your priority is an automatic transmission
The launch release supplies separate automatic figures for both petrol engine families: 18.2 km/l for TGDi and 17.96 km/l for TCMPFi. Those numbers allow a petrol-only comparison; they do not establish how an automatic XUV 3XO would operate on CNG.
If your priority is warranty certainty
Ask for the warranty position in writing before authorizing any conversion. The factory petrol warranty and a post-sale installation are not automatically equivalent, and the responsibility for calibration, tank hardware and future repairs must be clear.

Questions to ask a dealer before paying a booking amount
- Which exact XUV 3XO variant, engine and transmission is being quoted?
- Is the quoted amount ex-showroom, or does it include registration, insurance and other on-road charges?
- What is the delivery-time price, given that selector prices are indicative?
- Can you show the official specification for the selected petrol or diesel powertrain?
- If someone offers a CNG conversion, who certifies the installation and what documents cover insurance, registration, warranty and servicing?
- Can I inspect the luggage area of the exact vehicle or conversion and load my normal cases?
- What fuel-consumption evidence is available for this exact configuration, and was it measured under certification or real driving?
- Does the quoted vehicle have any factory documentation identifying CNG equipment, or is the offer entirely post-sale?
- Which costs are payable immediately, and which can change before delivery?
Common mistakes in an XUV 3XO CNG-versus-petrol comparison
- Listing an unverified CNG trim: The official selector and brochure do not provide one, so a CNG price or variant name should not be presented as factory equipment.
- Using the 364-litre figure for a converted car: ISO V215 describes Mahindra’s published vehicle measurement, not every possible tank installation.
- Calling ARAI mileage “real-world mileage”: The four figures are certification claims from Mahindra’s launch release.
- Calculating payback with guessed gas consumption: Without a verified XUV 3XO CNG consumption value and local fuel prices, the result has no reliable basis.
- Comparing launch and current prices as if they were the same quote: ₹7.49 lakh was launch wording from April 2024; ₹7,79,000 was the MX1 ex-showroom display checked on 13 October 2026.
- Assuming a dealer conversion is equivalent to a factory model: Documentation, cargo arrangement and ownership obligations must be checked for the specific converted vehicle.
- Mixing unlike tests: A CNG result from another model or a different route cannot be paired with an XUV 3XO ARAI number to produce a valid saving estimate.
- Treating a brochure number as a promise: Certified efficiency and standardized boot volume are useful reference points, not guarantees of every driver’s experience or every converted layout.
A practical decision path
- Confirm the powertrain: Select the petrol or diesel engine and transmission that Mahindra actually lists for the trim you want.
- Set a comparable price: Obtain a dated ex-showroom and on-road quotation, and separate the vehicle price from optional accessories or conversion work.
- Use the correct baseline: For petrol, start with the relevant ARAI figure—20.1, 18.2, 18.89 or 17.96 km/l—then build a personal tank-to-tank record.
- Test the cargo area: Begin with the 364-litre published specification, then load your own equipment in the exact vehicle.
- Demand conversion evidence: If CNG is offered, require configuration-specific consumption, certification, warranty, insurance and luggage documentation.
- Recalculate total cost: Include purchase or installation premium, fuel, service, inspections, compliance costs and resale assumptions rather than fuel price alone.
This sequence prevents a hypothetical CNG promise from influencing the decision before the basic facts are verified. It also keeps the petrol comparison fair: official certification figures remain clearly separated from personal fuel logs and from any aftermarket result.
Verdict
The Mahindra XUV 3XO cannot currently be presented as a factory CNG-versus-petrol comparison on the published evidence. The defensible baseline is a petrol XUV 3XO with 364 litres of ISO V215 boot space, four Mahindra-reported ARAI petrol figures ranging from 17.96 to 20.1 km/l depending on engine and transmission, and a documented MX1 price of ₹7,79,000 ex-showroom when checked on 13 October 2026. Anyone considering CNG must treat it as a separate, configuration-specific question and obtain verified cost, capacity and compliance information before making a purchase decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Mahindra XUV 3XO have a factory CNG variant?
Mahindra’s current selector and technical brochure reviewed here list petrol and diesel combinations, not a factory XUV 3XO CNG. A dealer or aftermarket conversion should not be described as factory equipment without matching Mahindra documentation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat is the XUV 3XO boot space?
Mahindra publishes 364 litres, measured according to ISO V215. The cited official material does not publish a separate CNG boot capacity, and a converted car must be measured with its tank installed.
What petrol mileage does the XUV 3XO officially claim?
Mahindra’s 29 April 2024 launch release lists 20.1 km/l for the TGDi manual, 18.2 km/l for the TGDi automatic, 18.89 km/l for the TCMPFi manual and 17.96 km/l for the TCMPFi automatic. These are ARAI certification figures, not guaranteed owner averages.
Can I calculate XUV 3XO CNG fuel savings or break-even?
Not responsibly from the published figures alone. You would need a verified CNG consumption result, local fuel prices, conversion or purchase premium, maintenance assumptions and the converted car’s usable cargo capacity.
What price is documented for the XUV 3XO?
The MX1 petrol product page displayed ₹7,79,000 ex-showroom when checked on 13 October 2026. Mahindra says selector prices are indicative and that the delivery-time price prevails. The company’s April 2024 launch release had described the model as starting at ₹7.49 lakh.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Is the petrol XUV 3XO better than a converted CNG car?
There is no universal answer from the documented figures. The factory petrol configuration has published specifications and a defined boot measurement; a conversion may reduce luggage space and requires separate checks for certification, insurance, warranty, servicing and real-world consumption.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The XUV 3XO is officially documented with petrol and diesel powertrains, not factory CNG. Use the 364-litre ISO V215 boot figure and Mahindra’s four ARAI petrol claims as your baseline, then demand configuration-specific evidence before considering any conversion.
