A reliable way to measure your own fuel economy
- Fill the tank to the same automatic shut-off point and record the odometer or trip reading.
- Drive your normal mix of city, highway and, if relevant, unpaved roads. Keep a note of unusually heavy traffic, loads or long idling.
- Refill at the same pump or using the same method, again stopping at the automatic shut-off.
- Record litres added and kilometres travelled. Calculate
kilometres per litre = kilometres driven ÷ litres added. - Repeat over several tanks. A single short trip is too sensitive to traffic and filling variation to represent your normal use.
Use that measured result, rather than an internet headline, in your budget. If a dealer quotes a mileage figure, ask whether it is a certified test value, a demonstration estimate or an owner-reported result, and which exact powertrain it describes.

Mahindra’s 2024 launch announcement stated a starting price of ₹12.99 lakh. That was an introductory launch figure and should not be presented as the current price of a Thar ROXX. Use the live selector and a written dealer quote for the date and city in which you intend to register the vehicle.
