Online payment does not by itself create a final vehicle sale. Mahindra describes the payment as an offer to buy. The order becomes accepted only after the selected dealership completes the required order-taking formalities. This distinction matters if a configuration becomes unavailable, the quoted offer changes, or the dealer needs additional KYC information.

Documents required for a Mahindra SUV booking
Identity and address proof
Mahindra’s terms require the customer to submit identity proof and address proof (KYC documents) as advised by the authorised dealership. The exact document combination is therefore confirmed by the dealer handling your order rather than fixed as one universal list in the online terms. Ask the dealership which currently accepted proofs apply to your customer type and address before your visit.
What to have ready
- The mobile number used during online registration.
- The confirmation email showing the booking amount and order number.
- The online reference or order number in a form the dealer can read, such as the email on your phone or a printed copy.
- Current identity and address proof requested by the dealership.
- Any additional information the dealer asks for to complete order-taking, finance or exchange formalities.
Do not assume that a payment receipt substitutes for KYC. The dealer can require the proofs it needs before accepting the order, and missing documents can delay formalities within the required time window.
How the online booking journey works
- Open the booking flow and select the vehicle. The current journey is divided into Vehicle, Dealer, Finance & Exchange and Review stages.
- Choose the SUV and configuration. Select the model, variant or configuration offered in the interface. Equipment, colour, fuel or transmission choices can affect the displayed amount and availability.
- Select your city and dealership. The dealer you select becomes responsible for completing order formalities and processing any refund.
- Review finance and exchange options. Mahindra’s Own-Online description allows the platform to generate exchange, finance and insurance quotations. These quotations are not the same as a final on-road invoice; ask the dealer to confirm the complete payable amount.
- Check the Review page carefully. Verify the customer name, mobile number, email address, SUV configuration, city, dealership and displayed booking amount before payment.
- Pay the amount shown on the booking summary. Save the payment confirmation and any transaction reference. The amount is adjusted against the vehicle’s purchase price if the order proceeds.
- Wait for the confirmation email. Mahindra says the email includes the booking amount and order number.
- Visit the selected dealership within three business days. Take the order number or online reference, the mobile number used for registration and the KYC proof requested by the dealer.
Completing these steps does not guarantee immediate delivery. Stock, production allocation, city pricing, offers and delivery estimates can change, and the dealership must still complete its order-taking process.

How much token money do you pay?
There is no single Mahindra token amount published in the general online terms. The payable booking amount is the figure displayed on the booking summary for the SUV and configuration you select. Because the amount can vary by model, city and dealer route, do not rely on a token figure quoted for a different vehicle or location.
What the displayed amount does and does not include
The booking summary amount is a reservation payment, not the complete cost of putting the SUV on the road. Mahindra says prices shown online are indicative, city-specific and ex-showroom. Taxes and other levies may apply. The price and offer applicable at delivery from the dealership are final, and offers can be changed or withdrawn.

Why the dealership visit is mandatory after online payment
Yes. Mahindra’s online terms require the customer to visit the selected dealership within three business days after the confirmation email. Bring the online reference or order number, the mobile number used for registration and the KYC documents requested by the dealer.
The visit is not merely a document handover. The dealership completes the required order-taking formalities, verifies the customer and configuration, and confirms the commercial details. Until those formalities are complete, the online payment remains an offer to buy rather than automatic final acceptance.

Contact the dealership immediately if travel within three business days is impractical. Ask for any extension or alternative procedure in writing; do not assume that an unanswered email or missed appointment preserves the order.
When can you cancel a Mahindra booking?
Cancellation before invoicing
Mahindra’s published wording says: “The Customer can cancel the order at any time before the invoicing stage at the dealership.” Submit the request to the authorised dealer handling the booking and retain a dated written acknowledgement. The relevant cutoff is the dealership’s invoicing stage, not the date you paid online.
Cancellation after invoicing
After the dealership reaches invoicing, cancellation is not allowed under the online terms. If you believe invoicing has occurred or the dealer says it has, ask for the invoice status and the applicable written policy before taking further action. A request made after that stage may not qualify as an online-booking cancellation.
If you do not complete dealer formalities
If you fail to complete dealership booking formalities within 15 business days, Mahindra may cancel the order. The terms say the booking amount for such cancelled orders is refunded without interest through the authorised dealer’s process. Because this is a discretionary cancellation by Mahindra rather than a normal customer-requested cancellation, obtain the dealer’s written confirmation of the reason, refund amount and processing date.
How much is deducted and how long does a refund take?
Potential 10% cancellation charge
Mahindra’s general online terms state that “cancellation charges to the tune of 10 % of the Booking amount will be applicable on each and every cancellation.” The same terms say Mahindra may decide whether to apply the charge and may modify the condition. Treat 10% as the stated potential deduction, not an automatic calculation that applies identically in every case.

For example, if your booking summary shows an amount of B, a 10% deduction would be calculated as 0.10 × B if the charge is applied. The refund would then be the booking amount less that deduction, subject to the dealer’s written confirmation and any applicable payment adjustments. Do not infer a rupee refund until the dealer confirms the exact amount.
Processing period
The terms allow cancellation processing to take up to 25 working days from your request. This is the period for Mahindra to process and confirm the cancellation; it is not necessarily the date the money appears in your bank or card account. After Mahindra confirms cancellation, the selected authorised dealer completes the refund under the timeline it communicates.
Who sends the refund?
Refunds are processed directly by the selected authorised dealer. That is why a portal status alone may not show the final credit date. Ask the dealer which payment method will be used, whether the refund returns to the original payment instrument, and when the transaction reference will be available.

Keep a single folder containing the payment receipt, confirmation email, order number, online reference, cancellation request, dealer acknowledgement, written statement of any deduction and the eventual refund transaction reference. Comparing dealers or booking routes
If more than one authorised dealer or payment route is available, compare the terms before selecting one. The following points can materially change your cost and risk:
- Booking amount and deduction: record the exact amount shown and obtain the written cancellation deduction policy.
- Payment destination: confirm whether payment is made through Mahindra’s official online portal or directly to a dealer, and whose receipt you will receive.
- Stock and delivery: ask whether the chosen configuration is allocated, in stock or awaiting production, and get the promised delivery window in writing.
- On-road total: compare taxes, insurance, registration, accessories and other charges, not only the ex-showroom figure.
- Refund contact: identify the person or department responsible for cancellation and obtain a written acknowledgement channel.
These variables can differ by model, city and dealership. A lower token amount does not necessarily mean a lower total purchase cost or a faster delivery.
Common problems and the practical response
The confirmation email has not arrived
Check spam and promotional folders, verify that payment was completed, and save the bank or card transaction record. Contact the selected dealer with the mobile number used during registration and the payment reference. Do not make a second payment until the first transaction’s status is confirmed.

The dealer cannot find the order
Provide the order number, online reference, registered mobile number and payment receipt. Ask the dealer to confirm that the booking is attached to the correct city and dealership. If the order was routed elsewhere, request written instructions for transfer or cancellation before visiting another outlet.
The selected variant is unavailable
Ask whether the dealer is offering a different configuration, a new delivery estimate or cancellation. Compare the revised on-road quotation and any change in booking amount before accepting a substitute. If you choose cancellation, submit it before invoicing and obtain the applicable deduction in writing.
The dealer requests documents you did not expect
Ask the dealer to identify each document’s purpose and whether an alternative accepted proof exists. Provide only the documents needed for KYC and retain copies. Delaying the request can put the order at risk of the 15-business-day formalities window.
The refund has not arrived
Confirm the date Mahindra accepted the cancellation, whether the 25-working-day processing period has elapsed, and whether the dealer has issued a refund transaction reference. Escalate with the payment receipt, cancellation acknowledgement and dealer correspondence through the booking-support contact identified in the terms.
A safe booking checklist
- Confirm you are eligible as an Indian resident and, for an individual booking, at least 18 years old.
- Verify the SUV, variant, configuration, city and authorised dealership on the Review page.
- Record the booking amount displayed in the booking summary.
- Ask for the complete on-road estimate and current delivery expectation.
- Read the cancellation wording, including the possible 10% charge and the pre-invoicing cutoff.
- Pay only through the route you have verified and save the receipt.
- Save the confirmation email and order number.
- Visit the dealership within three business days with the registered mobile number and requested KYC proofs.
- Complete dealer formalities within 15 business days to avoid discretionary cancellation for non-completion.
- If cancelling, submit a dated written request before invoicing and obtain the dealer’s acknowledgement.
- Track the 25-working-day processing window and request the final refund transaction reference.
Bottom line for Mahindra SUV buyers
The safest approach is to treat online booking as the first stage of a dealer-verified order, not as a guaranteed allocation. The booking amount is whatever your selected configuration shows, the dealer must complete acceptance formalities, and the three-business-day visit is part of the process. Before paying, settle the on-road price and cancellation deduction in writing. If you cancel, do so before invoicing, preserve every record and allow up to 25 working days for processing before following up with the authorised dealer.
