Short answer: If you need an electric SUV now, shop production models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier.ev or Mahindra XEV 9S. The Mahindra BE.07 is still best treated as an upcoming production vehicle, while Vision T remains a multi-energy concept with no confirmed production powertrain, price, range or launch date. Mahindra’s original BE.07 concept schedule targeted October 2026, but a February 2026 report from Autocar India said its production version would arrive in 2027.
That distinction matters. A concept can show the design direction without fixing the battery, seating, software, equipment or price that buyers will actually receive. The practical choice is therefore between a documented SUV available through current retail channels and waiting for Mahindra to publish final specifications.

BE.07 and Vision T: what is actually confirmed?
Mahindra BE.07 has moved from a concept date to a reported 2027 production timing
Mahindra introduced BE.07 on 15 August 2022 as one of five electric SUVs based on its INGLO platform. The company described it as family-oriented and published concept dimensions of 4,565 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, 1,660 mm high and a 2,775 mm wheelbase.

That 2022 announcement listed October 2026 as the intended launch window. It was a forward-looking concept plan, not a confirmation that a production vehicle would be delivered in that month. On 26 February 2026, Autocar India reported that Mahindra’s next electric offering would arrive in 2027 as the production version of the BE.07 concept. Until Mahindra publishes a final product announcement, the 2027 timing should be treated as reported context rather than a firm customer delivery date.

Mahindra executive director and chief executive Rajesh Jejurikar told Autocar India that “We believe the BO7 will be a very big volume driver on top of what we are doing with our current three products.” That is an executive expectation about market potential, not a sales result or a guarantee of price, equipment or availability.
Mahindra has not established a final BE.07 battery capacity, certified range, charging specification, seating layout, variant walk-up or price in the sources available for this guide. Reports may position it above the BE 6 and alongside vehicles such as the Tata Harrier.ev, but those positioning details should not be mistaken for a finalized specification sheet.
Vision T is a NU_IQ concept, not a confirmed electric SUV
Mahindra unveiled Vision T on 15 August 2025 as one of four concepts in its Vision 2027 family. The concepts sit on the NU_IQ platform, which Mahindra describes as multi-energy. The company says products derived from the concepts are planned to enter production from 2027.
Multi-energy does not automatically mean that every concept will become a battery-electric model. Mahindra’s official Freedom_NU FAQ says the displayed vehicles are concept designs and that production models based on them will be announced closer to launch. It does not give Vision T a production launch date, battery size, range, charging rate, price or confirmed powertrain.
Some secondary coverage describes Vision T as an electric, Thar-like direction. That is an interpretation of the concept, not a manufacturer-confirmed production specification. If your purchase decision depends on a fully electric drivetrain, treat Vision T as a vehicle to monitor rather than one to reserve or budget for today.

Production electric SUVs you can consider now
The table separates documented production information from concept expectations. Prices and stock can change by city and variant, so confirm the current quotation with a local dealer before paying a booking amount.

Hyundai Creta Electric: the documented five-seat alternative
Hyundai publishes two battery choices for the Creta Electric. The 42 kWh version is rated at 420 km, while the 51.4 kWh version is rated at 510 km. Both figures are Hyundai’s MIDC Part 1 plus Part 2 certified-cycle results. They are useful for comparing the two Creta Electric configurations, but they are not promises of the distance every driver will achieve in traffic, heat, rain, with passengers or at highway speeds.

Hyundai specifies CCS2 charging. With a DC charger rated above 100 kW, the company estimates a 10% to 80% charge in 39 minutes. Its AC estimates use a 7.4 kW charger.
For a buyer deciding between BE.07 and a current car, the Creta Electric’s advantage is specification certainty: battery sizes, claimed range, connector and charging estimate are published. The trade-off is that it is a five-seat SUV rather than a confirmed future family model, and its certified range should not be compared directly with a future Mahindra figure unless both use the same test basis.
Tata Harrier.ev: a larger, performance-oriented option
Tata Motors launched the Harrier.ev in 2025 with a stated 75 kWh battery. Tata claims that a 15-minute charge can add 250 km of range. The claim is dependent on the vehicle variant, charger output, battery temperature, starting state of charge and other conditions, so ask the dealer which charging hardware and version support the quoted result.

Tata also describes dual-motor, quad-wheel-drive capability and quotes a 6.3-second 0–100 km/h time for applicable versions. Those characteristics make the Harrier.ev relevant to buyers who want stronger acceleration, additional traction for poor surfaces or a larger SUV footprint rather than the most compact urban vehicle.

Mahindra XEV 9S: choose it when three rows are the priority
Mahindra’s 27 November 2025 release positioned the XEV 9S as a seven-seat electric SUV. It announced a starting ex-showroom price of ₹19.95 lakh, bookings opening on 14 January 2026 and deliveries beginning on 23 January 2026. Because ex-showroom prices exclude registration, insurance, taxes and location-specific charges, your on-road total will be higher.
The XEV 9S solves a different problem from the BE.07 concept: carrying a larger family in three rows. It should not be treated as a like-for-like substitute on exterior size, seating comfort or luggage space until you inspect the actual cabin. Mahindra’s release includes battery, range and equipment claims, but the evidence available for this guide does not establish a single universally applicable figure for every variant. Ask for the exact battery, certified range, charging curve and safety equipment of the version sold in your city.
How to choose between waiting and buying now
Buy a production EV now when your requirements are fixed
- You need a car within the next few months rather than an unconfirmed 2027 window.
- You can select a current model whose seat count, boot access, charging connector and warranty are documented.
- Your home or workplace charging plan is ready, or reliable public charging exists on your regular routes.
- You need a firm on-road budget and cannot absorb a future model’s price change.
A current production vehicle also lets you inspect the driving position, rear-seat space, visibility, boot and charging access before purchase. A test drive cannot tell you long-term reliability, but it can expose immediate fit problems that concept images cannot.

Wait for BE.07 only if its unknowns are acceptable
- You specifically want the BE.07 design and can keep your current vehicle until Mahindra confirms production details.
- You can tolerate a reported 2027 arrival moving again.
- You are willing to compare the final price and equipment with whatever production SUVs are available at that time.
- You will not make a decision based on the 2022 October 2026 concept date.
Waiting is a choice to preserve flexibility, not a guarantee of a particular battery, range or price. Do not sell your current vehicle or pay a non-refundable amount solely on the basis of concept dimensions or an early schedule.
Do not treat Vision T as a bookable EV
Vision T is appropriate for a watch list. It is not yet appropriate for an EV purchase calculation because the production powertrain, range, charging system, price and launch date are unconfirmed. Revisit it when Mahindra publishes a production name, technical sheet and booking information.

The Creta Electric figures are MIDC-certified results. Tata’s Harrier.ev statements describe battery capacity and a claimed amount of range added during a short charge. Those are different measurements. A larger MIDC number does not automatically mean longer highway range, and a “250 km in 15 minutes” claim is not equivalent to a full 10–80% charging time.
When comparing dealer claims, record these details:

- Battery usable capacity, not only the gross pack capacity.
- The test cycle: MIDC, another certification procedure or an unqualified estimate.
- Starting and ending state of charge for a charging claim.
- Charger power, connector type and whether the result applies to one trim or the whole range.
- Ambient temperature, battery preconditioning and any stated test conditions.
For home charging, Hyundai’s 7.4 kW reference is a useful planning point. Confirm the vehicle’s onboard AC limit, connector compatibility, cable, earthing, sanctioned household load and installation location before buying a charger. A high-power wall unit cannot make a car accept energy faster than its onboard charger allows.

Ownership checks that matter more than a concept sketch
Seats, child seats and luggage
Count the adults and children who travel most often, then test the second-row legroom with the front seats set for real drivers. If you need three rows, load the luggage you actually carry with the rearmost seats in use. The XEV 9S is the only model in this comparison explicitly positioned as seven-seat; the BE.07 and Vision T production layouts are not established.
Charging access
Map your regular overnight parking location and long-distance routes. Ask each dealer for the supplied AC equipment, DC charging limits, battery preconditioning behavior and roadside assistance terms. Public charging availability can vary sharply between cities, highways and apartment complexes, so a nominally fast car may be inconvenient if the right connector is unavailable.
Service and parts
Check the nearest authorized workshop, high-voltage repair capability, towing procedure after a battery fault and the warranty’s battery-capacity threshold. Ask whether software updates are delivered remotely or require a workshop visit. These questions are especially important when comparing an established production model with a vehicle that has not yet reached showrooms.
Price and variant discipline
Use the exact variant’s ex-showroom price, then add registration, insurance, accessories, charger installation and financing. The ₹19.95 lakh XEV 9S figure is a starting ex-showroom price announced by Mahindra in November 2025, not a current all-in price for every city. Current Creta Electric and Harrier.ev prices were not established in the evidence used here, so obtain a written local quotation.
A practical shortlist by buyer type
- Need a compact five-seat EV with published numbers: start with the Hyundai Creta Electric and choose between its 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh configurations after checking price, charging access and desired performance.
- Want a larger SUV with all-wheel-drive capability: inspect the Tata Harrier.ev, confirm which trim has dual motors and verify the charging setup behind Tata’s range-added claim.
- Need three rows from Mahindra: investigate the XEV 9S, with a physical test of third-row access and luggage space before relying on the seven-seat label.
- Prefer the BE.07 concept: wait for Mahindra’s production announcement and compare its final sheet with the vehicles above rather than reserving from concept timing alone.
- Interested in Vision T’s rugged concept direction: monitor official NU_IQ updates; do not assume it will be a battery-electric model until Mahindra confirms that powertrain.
What to verify before booking
- Ask for the exact model year, variant code, battery capacity and certified range in writing.
- Confirm whether the quoted price is ex-showroom or on-road and whether it applies to your state.
- Test-fit passengers, child seats and luggage; do not infer cabin space from concept dimensions.
- Check AC and DC connector standards, maximum charging rates and installation requirements.
- Request warranty coverage for the battery, motor, charger and electronic control units.
- Confirm delivery timing, cancellation terms and whether the vehicle is already homologated and registered for sale.
- Take a route-relevant test drive that includes your typical traffic, parking and highway conditions.
The safest way to approach the Mahindra BE.07 and Vision T is to separate desire from documentation. Current production SUVs provide specifications you can verify today; the two Mahindra concepts may become compelling alternatives once their production identities, prices and powertrains are officially disclosed.
