Huawei’s official HIMA materials describe the S800 as the flagship model of the Zunjie/MAEXTRO brand. This is consistent with Huawei’s broader automotive strategy. Rather than building a conventional Huawei-branded car factory and selling vehicles entirely under its own name, the technology company works with established automakers on separate marques. The S800 is the clearest example yet of that strategy being applied to an ultra-luxury flagship.
When did the S800 launch?
The S800’s launch happened in stages rather than on one date:

Therefore, the word launch in the original announcement primarily refers to the May 30, 2025 market launch. The November 2024 event was the preorder unveiling, while the 2026 event introduced a more exclusive derivative rather than replacing the original S800 range.

Price and market position
At launch, the four S800 configurations were priced between RMB 708,000 and RMB 1,018,000. That places the car firmly in China’s million-yuan luxury-vehicle segment, well above Huawei-backed mainstream and premium models sold through other HIMA marques.
Its natural comparison set includes Mercedes-Maybach-class sedans and, at the upper end of the positioning discussion, Bentley or Rolls-Royce. Those comparisons should be understood as market positioning rather than a claim that Maextro already matches the established marques’ brand equity, hand craftsmanship, international service networks, or resale history.
The strategic point is more significant than the exact comparison. Huawei is testing whether its technology stack can support a flagship product bought for rear-seat comfort, status, presentation, and exclusivity—not simply for a large screen or a long specification list. The S800’s size, executive seating, advanced electronic systems, and bespoke 2026 edition all point toward that ambition.

Huawei’s published product specifications list the S800 at 5,480 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, and 1,542 mm high, with a 3,370 mm wheelbase. Those dimensions make it a full-size sedan with a strong chauffeur-oriented design brief.

The four-seat version is the more important one for the S800’s luxury positioning. It replaces the usual rear bench with a separated executive environment and dual rear zero-gravity seats. Huawei describes electrically adjustable seats with multiple adjustment axes, leg supports, heating, and massage. The relevant ActiveSafe zero-gravity seat system can recline to as much as 148.5 degrees.
Huawei also highlights a flat rear floor, 2,200 mm of passenger-space length, and a 3.4-square-meter flat-floor cabin area. The presentation is intended to make the back seat the primary place to spend time, rather than treating rear legroom as a byproduct of a long wheelbase.
Other published cabin and convenience features include a Huawei head-up display with a claimed 76-inch-equivalent projected image area, 50-watt wireless charging, and 66-watt wired charging. Electronic interior and exterior mirrors are listed on supported versions. These features are configuration-sensitive: Huawei’s material distinguishes between standard equipment, options, and equipment limited to particular versions.

- Pure electric: The wheels are driven using energy stored in the traction battery.
- Range extended electric: A gasoline engine operates as a generator to produce electricity. It does not mechanically drive the wheels in the conventional hybrid arrangement.
Calling the second version a range-extended EV is more accurate than simply calling it a hybrid. It is intended to preserve an electric driving experience while reducing dependence on charging infrastructure for longer trips.

These are CLTC laboratory-cycle figures, not EPA ratings and not guaranteed real-world distances. Actual range can change with temperature, road conditions, speed, driving style, battery condition, equipment, and other factors. The range-extended figures also combine electric and generator-supported operation, so they should not be compared directly with the battery-only range of a pure EV.

Huawei technology and the Tuling Longxing platform
The S800 uses Huawei’s Tuling Longxing platform and is marketed with the company’s Qiankun ADS 4 assisted-driving system. Huawei presents the vehicle as a highly integrated software-defined car, with the cockpit, connectivity, driving assistance, and chassis systems working through a centralized electronic architecture.
The platform’s published redundancy strategy is one of its more notable technical claims. Huawei describes duplicated systems for the intelligent-driving computer, low-voltage power supply, steering actuators, brake actuators, and power-distribution center. The goal is to maintain important functions if a primary component or path fails.
That does not make the S800 autonomous. ADS 4 is an advanced driver-assistance system, not self-driving technology. The driver remains responsible for supervising the vehicle and being ready to intervene. Feature availability can also depend on trim level, software version, over-the-air updates, optional equipment, and compatible Huawei devices.
The S800’s connected-device features can involve Bluetooth, UWB, HarmonyOS NEXT, or NearLink compatibility, depending on the specific function and device. A compatible Huawei phone or watch may enable certain access or interaction features, but Huawei’s published material should not be interpreted as saying that every owner must purchase a Huawei device to use the car.
Safety and structural claims
Huawei and JAC emphasize the S800’s body structure as part of its flagship positioning. Huawei says high-strength steel and aluminum account for 92% of the body-in-white structural weight, with 24% of the structure using hot-formed steel rated at 1,500 MPa or higher. The company also describes a ten-horizontal, nine-longitudinal body architecture.
JAC testing figures cited in the product material include torsional stiffness of 53,300 N·m/degree and a roof-side load figure of 16 tons. These are manufacturer-reported test results. They are not independent crash-test ratings, and structural stiffness figures should not be presented as a substitute for crash-test performance or a safety certification from a specific market.
The model’s advertised proactive-safety and assisted-driving functions are similarly configuration-dependent. Some features may be optional, software-controlled, or enabled through later OTA updates. Buyers need to confirm the exact equipment list and software status for the specific vehicle rather than assuming that every S800 carries every advertised function as standard.
Charging, power export, and ownership details
The S800’s configuration material documents vehicle-to-load capability of up to 6 kW and vehicle-to-vehicle charging of up to 6 kW using a dedicated cable. A separately purchased 7 kW AC home charger is also listed.

These details are useful for Chinese-market owners, but they do not establish charging compatibility in the United States or any other market. Connector standards, electrical regulations, installation requirements, software support, and warranty coverage would all need to be verified before importing or operating the vehicle elsewhere.
Owners should also verify accessories against the exact trim and body configuration. S800-specific mats, trunk mats, key protectors, NFC-card cases, screen protectors, and sunshades appear in aftermarket listings, but availability, fitment, shipping geography, and seller quality are not established by the vehicle’s official product page. A generic accessory should not be assumed to fit a 2025 or 2026 S800.
Early demand: strong interest, but orders are not deliveries
According to HIMA information reported by Gasgoo, the S800 recorded more than 1,000 firm orders in its first hour, more than 1,600 in its first 24 hours, and more than 2,600 within 72 hours of the May 30, 2025 launch. Contemporary reporting later placed first-month confirmed orders above 6,500.
Those figures indicate early customer interest, but they are orders rather than completed deliveries, registrations, retail sales, or revenue. A high preorder count can include customers who later cancel, delay delivery, or change configuration.
On June 25, 2026, Xinhua reported cumulative S800 deliveries of 19,000 over 13 months. The same report said the S800 had ranked first among China’s million-yuan luxury vehicles for nine consecutive months. That ranking should be attributed to the report rather than presented as an independently verified industry-wide result unless a transparent registration database confirms it.
The 2026 Grand Design Collector’s Spectacle edition
The Grand Design Collector’s Spectacle edition, introduced on June 25, 2026, starts at RMB 1.388 million. It is best understood as a limited, highly customized luxury derivative rather than a replacement for the original four-configuration S800 lineup.
According to Xinhua’s account, the edition adds dedicated colors, a gold centerline, a seven-layer, five-coat paint process, forged wheels, real-wood HOD steering-wheel technology, 18 wood trim panels, hand-embroidered seat details, and long-pile wool carpeting. It also uses a 43-speaker Huawei Sound Ultimate audio system.
The edition’s purpose is not merely to add equipment. It gives Maextro a way to demonstrate hand-finished materials and personalization, two areas where established ultra-luxury brands have traditionally differentiated themselves from technology-led newcomers.

The health-focused Hongmeng ALPS cabin is another part of the package. Huawei and Xinhua report that MOF-based adsorption materials are placed across 16 locations covering 16 square meters, with a claimed 40% improvement in overall adsorption performance over the previous generation and a 20% improvement in aldehyde adsorption efficiency. Those are manufacturer-reported performance claims, not independently audited laboratory results.

That means readers should not treat an imported S800 as a normal new-car purchase. The same caution applies to Europe and other regions. Availability should be confirmed market by market through an official Huawei, HIMA, JAC, or Maextro announcement rather than inferred from online listings.
What the S800 means for Huawei
The S800 is important because it tests a business model as much as a vehicle. Huawei is attempting to turn its strengths in consumer electronics, software, connectivity, and assisted driving into a luxury-car identity. JAC supplies the industrial foundation, while Huawei’s ecosystem supplies the visible intelligence and digital experience.
The car’s design brief is also deliberate. A 5.48-meter body, four-seat rear cabin, reclining executive seats, elaborate materials, and a seven-figure price target a buyer who may be driven rather than driving. The range-extended option addresses the practical concern that even affluent customers may not want every long-distance journey to depend on charging.
Whether that strategy succeeds will depend on more than specifications. Maextro must build trust in manufacturing quality, long-term software support, service, resale value, and the authenticity of its luxury presentation. The 2026 Grand Design edition suggests that Huawei and JAC understand this challenge: a premium technology stack can attract attention, but a durable luxury brand also needs craftsmanship, exclusivity, and consistent ownership support.
