Macfox recommends riders be at least 5 ft 3 in for the X1S, 5 ft 1 in for the X7, and 5 ft 3 in for the X7L. Those are manufacturer sizing guidelines, not proof that a particular teen can comfortably manage the bike or is legally allowed to ride it. Check fit, weight, route, and local rules before choosing.
Macfox’s current store lists the X1S, X7/X7L, and a bike whose product-page title is “Macfox X2 Electric Mountain Bike,” while the page copy calls it the X2 Pro. This article uses X2 Pro for that model.
Start with fit and control
Height guidance is a first screen, not a fit guarantee. A teen’s inseam, ability to get on and off, balance, reach to the controls, and confidence stopping and starting all matter. Have the rider sit on the bike and rehearse mounting, dismounting, braking, and steady low-speed handling in a safe setting before considering public-road use.
Bike weight matters, too. Macfox lists the X1S at 65 lb and the X7 at 87 lb. A rider may be within a model’s stated payload limit yet still find it difficult to move the bike, steady it at a stop, or maneuver it when walking. The current X2 Pro page’s full set of specifications should be checked directly before purchase.

What changes between the models?
X1S: the lighter listed bike
The X1S is the lightest of the models here with a published weight, at 65 lb. Macfox lists a 220 lb rider limit, a 500 Wh battery, and 20 × 4.0 in tires. Its narrower tires than the X7’s may appeal to a rider who does not specifically want the X7’s broader tire profile. Choose based on fit and intended route rather than assuming tire size alone predicts handling.

X7: wider tires and a higher listed rider limit
The X7 uses a 20 × 4.5 in front tire and a 20 × 5.0 in rear tire, compared with the X1S’s 20 × 4.0 in tires. It also has a higher published rider limit—330 lb—and a larger listed battery capacity of 624 Wh. Its 87 lb weight is a substantial practical consideration for a younger rider. The X7L is the taller-frame variant; check its own current listing rather than assuming the X7’s fit will be identical.
X2 Pro: mountain-bike positioning and full suspension
Macfox presents the X2 Pro as a full-suspension-oriented electric mountain bike. The page lists a 750 W motor and 1,000 W peak, with a 20 mph top speed, and the highest manufacturer-stated range in this comparison. Confirm the current fit and complete specifications on the product listing because the store’s product title says “X2” while its copy uses “X2 Pro.”

How to interpret Macfox’s range estimates
Macfox lists single-battery ranges of up to 28 miles for the X1S, 35 miles for the X7, and 40 miles for the X2 Pro. It also states dual-battery estimates of up to 56, 70, and 80 miles respectively. These are manufacturer estimates from described test conditions, not guaranteed distances or independently verified head-to-head results.
Macfox describes its range testing as laboratory testing with an average rider weight and steady cruising in second gear; for the X2 Pro, its page specifies paved roads. Actual distance depends on riding conditions and setup, so do not plan a teen’s route around the maximum figure alone. Check the current product page for the exact test description and battery configuration before relying on an estimate.

Check payload, battery configuration, and certification
Compare the rider’s weight with the stated rider limit, but do not treat payload as a measure of whether the bike is manageable. Macfox lists a 220 lb rider limit for the X1S and 330 lb for the X7. The X2 Pro’s current complete limit should be confirmed on its product page.
Macfox states that the X1S single-battery configuration is UL 2271 certified. It says the dual-battery system exceeds that standard’s scope, so the single-battery certification statement should not be applied to the dual-battery setup. Check the exact model and battery configuration rather than assuming a certification claim covers every version.

Macfox also cautions on the X1S product page: “Please note that modifying the electronic control system is not recommended.” Do not modify the bike’s electronic controls to alter its behavior or speed.
Confirm the rules where the bike will be ridden
The product pages describe these bikes as Class 2 with a 20 mph top speed. That manufacturer description does not establish that a teen may legally ride a particular model on every road, path, or public space. Age minimums, helmet rules, roadway access, and e-bike class restrictions can vary by state and municipality. Check the current rules for the exact riding location before buying or riding; without a location, no specific age eligibility can be determined.
Macfox’s specifications are useful for narrowing choices, but they do not replace a supervised fit and control check or a location-specific legal check. Make the decision on the teen’s ability to manage the bike and the route it will actually be used on—not appearance alone.
