Public deliveries of Huawei and Chery’s Luxeed S7 began in April 2024, according to a report on an announcement by Huawei executive Richard Yu. The “takes on Tesla Model S” framing dates to the S7’s November 2023 launch, not to a current, matched comparison. Luxeed’s current configuration page lists three S7 trims priced from RMB 229,800 to RMB 289,800, with CLTC-rated ranges of 705 to 855 km.
When did Luxeed S7 deliveries begin?
Gizmochina reported on April 1, 2024, that Richard Yu had announced public customer deliveries had started. The article also reported earlier production challenges attributed to semiconductor shortages and manufacturing issues; those causes are secondary-source reporting, not a statement independently established here. This is a historical delivery-start announcement, not news of deliveries beginning in 2026. The same report gave a starting price of RMB 249,800 at the time. That historical price should not be confused with the current configuration page’s three listed trims.
What is the Luxeed S7?
Luxeed is a joint vehicle project between Huawei and Chery: Chery manufactures the cars, while Huawei supplies technology and participates in the vehicle program. A 2025 Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited filing describes the S7 as a mid-to-large, all-electric sedan first launched in 2023. The 2025 filing.

Current Luxeed S7 prices, range and performance
Luxeed’s current configuration page, accessed in 2026, lists the following three versions. These are current page figures, not a reconstruction of the cars delivered in April 2024.

Luxeed also lists a 15-minute fast-charge time for charging from 30% to 80%. The configuration page does not specify the test conditions for that charging figure, so it should not be treated as a guaranteed time in every charging situation. Luxeed S7 configuration page.

How to interpret the range figures
The 855 km figure is the Max+’s full-charge CLTC test-cycle range, according to Luxeed’s model page. CLTC is a stated test-cycle figure, not a promise of distance in everyday driving. Luxeed says actual range depends on temperature, road conditions, driving habits and battery age. Luxeed S7 model page and range disclaimer.
The S7’s driver-assistance equipment also needs a precise description: Luxeed says the current versions have Huawei ADS 4, but its disclaimer says ADS is not autonomous driving and that the driver remains responsible for control. Driver-assistance branding is not evidence that a car can drive itself.

What does “takes on Tesla Model S” mean?
The comparison is competitive positioning, not proof that the S7 is superior or equivalent on every measure. CnEVPost’s November 28, 2023 launch coverage reported that Yu compared the S7 with the Tesla Model S. It listed Model S dimensions of 4,979 mm long, 1,964 mm wide and 1,445 mm tall, with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. Those are historical figures in that launch report, not a date-matched specification set for a current Model S. CnEVPost’s November 2023 launch coverage.
A meaningful head-to-head would need to align market and model year, trim and drivetrain, local price, range test cycle, charging conditions, acceleration and dimensions. The available figures do not establish a current, fully equivalent comparison, so they cannot support a claim that the S7 beats the Model S “in every specification.”

Why do S7 price snapshots differ?
Luxeed’s current configuration page lists RMB 229,800 for the Max, RMB 249,800 for the Max+ and RMB 289,800 for the Ultra. By contrast, the 2025 corporate filing gives an S7 China MSRP range of RMB 229,800–329,800, alongside CLTC range figures of up to 855 km for rear-wheel-drive versions and 785 km for all-wheel-drive versions. The filing and current page are different lineup snapshots; the filing’s higher ceiling should not be read as the price of one of the three trims currently surfaced on that page.
