The Lumina ML6 Moonlander is a reported 32-ton electric crawler dozer prototype—not a confirmed production machine. Coverage published in 2025 lists 750 horsepower and says its 414-kWh battery can reach 80% charge in 50 minutes when connected to a suitable 300-kW charger. Those are reported specifications, not independently verified performance results.
What the ML6 Moonlander is
Lumina’s ML6 Moonlander is described in 2025 coverage as a 32-ton electric crawler dozer prototype. Construction Equipment reported its 750-hp output, 414-kWh battery and 15-foot blade, along with a 360-degree camera array for remote operation. Construction Equipment’s June 3, 2025 report identifies the machine as a prototype.
The published comparisons need context: reports liken its footprint to a Caterpillar D6 and its dozing capability to a D9, but they do not provide controlled head-to-head tests. The comparison is not evidence that the ML6 matches a D9 across jobs or operating conditions.
How to interpret the charging and runtime claims
Charging
Notebookcheck and Interesting Engineering reported that the 414-kWh battery can charge to 80% in 50 minutes with a suitable 300-kW charger. Interesting Engineering also reported about 75 minutes to reach a full charge. These are reported figures; the coverage does not establish independent testing, charging conditions beyond the stated charger rating, or a guaranteed result on every site. Notebookcheck’s June 2, 2025 report and Interesting Engineering’s June 3, 2025 report give the charging claims.

A 300-kW supply is a substantial site-power requirement. The reported 50-minute figure therefore depends on access to suitable high-power charging infrastructure; it should not be read as a charge time achievable from an ordinary outlet or typical consumer EV charger.
Operating time
Coverage gives an operating window of up to 8–10 hours or up to 10 hours. No standardized duty cycle or independent field-test result is documented in those reports, so the figure is best treated as a reported estimate rather than a guaranteed shift length. Actual runtime cannot be determined from the published number alone.

Blade capacity and the D6 comparison
Construction Equipment quoted David Wright, Lumina’s head of UK operations, saying: “A D6 could not push that blade,” and describing “full dozing seven to nine cubic meters of material, for eight to 10 hours.” That is Wright’s company statement, not an independently measured capacity result. The report does not establish the material, terrain, work cycle or test method behind the volume claim. Construction Equipment
The D6 and D9 references are useful as rough points of comparison, but they do not substitute for matched data on weight, blade configuration, productivity, energy use and working conditions. The available reporting does not support declaring the ML6 an overall performance winner over conventional dozers.

Remote operation is not the same as proven autonomy
Reports describe a 360-degree camera system and remote operation, including use in difficult or hazardous terrain. That supports describing the ML6 as remotely operable. It does not establish that the machine has been commercially deployed as a fully autonomous dozer, or demonstrate the extent of any autonomous functions in routine field work. Notebookcheck and Construction Equipment describe remote operation and cameras.

The 2025 reporting describes the ML6 as a prototype, not a machine with confirmed production availability. Construction Equipment reported that Lumina planned to provide earthmoving services rather than sell equipment. That dated account does not confirm the company’s current model, service locations, deployments or whether the ML6 can be booked today.
