The company’s Midsize platform was announced with a starting-price target below $50,000; that is not a confirmed Cosmos sticker price. What was spotted on US-101?
On October 5, 2026, Electrek’s Fred Lambert reported that four photos showed a camouflaged vehicle on US-101 near Morgan Hill, about 40 miles south of Lucid’s Newark headquarters. The article credited the images to Reddit user u/always_trolled and said highway signs indicated the location. Electrek identified the vehicle as a Cosmos prototype. What is the Lucid Cosmos?
Lucid announced Cosmos on March 12, 2026, as an SUV in its planned Midsize platform, which the company said would include three models. Does Cosmos cost $50,000?
No confirmed Cosmos MSRP is established in the cited materials. “Below $50,000” was Lucid’s announced starting-price target for the Midsize platform, not a final price for Cosmos. When will the Lucid Cosmos come out?
TechCrunch reported on August 5, 2026, that Lucid had moved Cosmos to the second half of 2027. That is a reported schedule, not a guaranteed production start, order date or customer-delivery date. TechCrunch connected the delay to CEO Silvio Napoli’s emphasis on product readiness and avoiding earlier quality problems. Napoli told the outlet, “We will not repeat the mistakes of the past by bringing a product to market before it is ready.” TechCrunch’s report
What Lucid’s recent production figures do—and do not—show
In its October 5, 2026 update, Lucid reported producing 2,954 vehicles and delivering 3,806 in the third quarter. The company said deliveries exceeded production as it reduced inventory. Those figures concern Lucid’s overall vehicle business; they do not indicate demand for Cosmos, which was still a planned vehicle. Lucid said fuller financial results would accompany its later Q3 earnings announcement. Lucid’s Q3 production and deliveries update
