Lucid announced on November 5, 2025, that Eric Bach, its Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer, had departed. The company gave no reason. Bach later sued, alleging discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination; Lucid disputed his claims. TechCrunch reported on June 9, 2026, that the case had been stayed pending arbitration.
What Lucid announced about Eric Bach’s departure
In its November 5, 2025 announcement, Lucid said Bach “has departed Lucid” and thanked him for his contributions “over the past decade.” It did not explain why he left. The company described his role as Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer.
TechCrunch reported that Bach joined Lucid in 2015 after working as Tesla’s Director of Engineering and spending more than a decade at Volkswagen. Lucid’s “past decade” wording and TechCrunch’s account of his tenure do not establish exact start and end dates, so the duration is best understood as roughly a decade or more.
Why did Lucid’s chief engineer leave?
Lucid did not give a reason when it announced Bach’s departure. A later lawsuit supplied Bach’s allegations, not a company-confirmed explanation or a court finding. The distinction matters: the November announcement used “departed,” while the legal accounts describe a contested termination.

According to The Drive’s December 9, 2025 report, Bach’s complaint alleges that he raised concerns about discrimination and a hostile work environment and was then pushed out. His law firm, Wigdor LLP, also announced the complaint on December 8. Those descriptions represent the plaintiff’s account.
Lucid responded to The Drive that it considered Bach’s legal claims “absurd” and was confident that facts developed through litigation would establish legitimate issues leading to his termination. The allegations and the company’s response remain competing claims; the cited reporting does not establish a judicial finding on their merits.
What else changed in Lucid’s leadership?
Bach’s departure was announced as part of wider organizational changes, not as an isolated succession announcement. Lucid said Emad Dlala would take on responsibility for “Engineering and Digital.” It also announced Jeri Ford’s retirement and Marnie Levergood’s succession in quality leadership. TechCrunch reported that James Hawkins, Lucid’s vice president of engineering, was also no longer with the company; Lucid declined to comment specifically on Hawkins.
Those changes provide organizational context, but the announcements and reporting do not establish that Bach’s departure caused a particular product, engineering, or business outcome.

What is the status of Bach’s lawsuit?
TechCrunch reported on June 9, 2026, that the case had been stayed pending arbitration. A stay pauses court proceedings while arbitration is pursued; it is not a ruling that either side’s claims are true or false. The cited report does not establish a final outcome, and the procedural status is dated to that report.
That same TechCrunch report described subsequent leadership changes, including Silvio Napoli’s arrival as CEO and Dlala’s departure. Those are developments reported as of June 2026, not a basis for assuming Lucid’s present-day leadership structure.
