The UK startup lists the 895 kg Speedster at £84,995, with a 0–62 mph time of 3.5 seconds and an estimated 275-mile WLTP range. The 995 kg Roadster starts at £64,995, reaches 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and is estimated at 280 miles. Longbow calls them the world’s first “Featherweight Electric Vehicles” (FEVs), but that superlative is the company’s category claim rather than an independently audited global first.
What Longbow has unveiled
Longbow Motor Company was established in the UK in 2023 by executives with backgrounds at Tesla and Lucid. Its debut range applies the company’s “Featherweight Electric Vehicle” label to two compact, driver-focused electric sports cars:

- Speedster: an open-top, two-seat-style sports car intended to deliver an exposed-roadster experience.
- Roadster: a closed-cockpit counterpart with a roof and weather protection.
The design brief draws on lightweight British sports cars including the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type. Longbow CEO Daniel Davey described the aim as “a more driver-oriented, featherweight, electric sportscar – one that is attainable and accessible for those who love driving and the places it takes them.”

How much do the Longbow cars cost?
Speedster
The Speedster has a starting price of £84,995. Longbow says it plans to build 150 numbered examples, making this the explicitly limited model in the launch information.
Roadster
The Roadster starts at £64,995. Longbow has not stated a production ceiling for it in the published launch material.
Longbow’s website displays a reservation action for each model. The available information does not state the required deposit, final purchase specification, allocation rules or customer delivery dates, so a reservation should not be treated as a confirmed delivery commitment.

Performance and range
Acceleration
Longbow quotes 0–62 mph in 3.5 seconds for the Speedster and 3.6 seconds for the Roadster. Those are manufacturer-published targets, not independent instrumented tests. The one-tenth-second difference is small; body style, equipment and final production calibration could matter more to a driver than the headline number.
Driving range
The Speedster’s estimated range is 275 miles and the Roadster’s is 280 miles, both measured on the WLTP test cycle. WLTP is a standardized laboratory estimate rather than a promise of distance in every journey. Speed, temperature, wheel and tyre choice, terrain, heating or air-conditioning use and driving style will affect actual range. Longbow has not published an independent road-test result or a real-world range figure in the launch information.
Why Longbow calls them “featherweight”
At 895 kg, the Speedster is unusually light for a modern battery-electric performance car. The Roadster’s 995 kg target is also far below the mass of most contemporary electric sports cars and performance sedans. Lower mass can reduce the energy needed for acceleration and cornering, while making braking, steering and suspension responses easier to tune. It also helps explain why Longbow emphasizes the feel of classic lightweight British sports cars rather than competing only on motor output.

- 2 Modes of Operation: There are two ways to operate the 12V electric stroller, which can be operated by the child himself by manipulating the steering wheel and foot pedal. If the child can not drive, the parents can control the direction and speed by remote control
- 3-Speed & Smooth Start: The remote control provides 3-speed adjustment and manual operation provides 2-speed adjustment to ensure the safety of children, while equipped with a smooth start design to ensure the safety of your kids. The maximum speed can reach 3Mph
- Realistic Experience: The power wheel car comes with bright headlights and realistic taillights that look like real models, built-in music, voltage display, USB and AUX connectors, volume control, TF card slot and speakers, along with a widened seat and adjustable seat belt design to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for children
- Rechargeable & Durable: The battery type is 12V, the time required for charging is 8-12 hours, and it can run for 1-2 hours when fully charged, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
- Age and Weight Capacity: This children's car has a maximum weight capacity of 55Lbs, suitable for children from 3 to 5 years old, with excellent reliability of use
Weight alone does not establish how either car will drive. Ride quality, tyre selection, suspension geometry, structural stiffness, software calibration and battery state will determine the finished experience, and those production details have not all been published.

800V battery architecture
Longbow’s technology information describes a modular 800V battery system with pack-level energy density above 220 Wh/kg. An 800V electrical system can support high-power charging and reduce current for a given power level, but Longbow has not published charging-rate, charging-time or compatible-network figures for these cars.
Aluminium and composite structure
The platform combines an aluminium and composite chassis with what Longbow calls a centre-axis architecture. The stated objective is to keep mass low and concentrated around the wheelbase, a layout intended to support balanced handling and reduce the rotational inertia that can make a car feel less agile.

Longbow says both models will be hand-built in Britain. That describes the intended production method; it does not by itself confirm production volume, homologation status or delivery schedules.
Are these really the world’s first lightweight electric sports cars?
“World’s first Featherweight Electric Vehicle” is Longbow’s own branding for a new category. The available launch coverage does not independently verify that no earlier electric sports car met a similar definition of lightweight construction. The defensible statement is that Longbow is introducing its own FEV category with these two cars, not that it has objectively established the first lightweight electric sports cars worldwide.
The distinction matters because “featherweight” has no universal industry weight threshold. Longbow’s published kerb weights are concrete, but the category name is a marketing definition rather than an established certification.
Which Longbow should a buyer consider?
Choose the Speedster if open-air driving is the priority
- It is the lighter car at 895 kg.
- Its open-top body provides the most direct roadster experience.
- Only 150 numbered examples are currently planned.
- Its starting price is £20,000 higher than the Roadster’s listed price.
Choose the Roadster if a roof matters more
- The closed cockpit offers weather protection that the Speedster’s open body cannot.
- It is listed with a slightly longer estimated WLTP range of 280 miles.
- At 995 kg, it remains substantially lighter than most battery-electric performance cars.
- Its published starting price is £64,995, although final specification and availability are not stated.
Neither model can yet be assessed on independent handling, braking, charging or reliability data. Prospective customers should verify the latest specification, reservation terms, homologation position and delivery estimate directly with Longbow before committing funds.
Bottom line
Longbow’s proposition is straightforward: use a small, light electric platform and a driver-focused chassis instead of accepting the heavy battery packs common in high-performance EVs. The Speedster is the limited, open-top flagship; the Roadster is the lower-priced, closed-cockpit alternative. Their published weights and performance targets are distinctive, while the “world’s first” label remains Longbow’s unverified category claim.
