The Manthey-equipped Porsche 911 GT3 RS keeps the model’s naturally aspirated 4.0-litre engine: 386 kW (525 PS) at 8,500 rpm, 465 Nm at 6,300 rpm, and the ability to rev to 9,000 rpm, according to Porsche’s technical press material. That high-revving engine is the right context for a sound-focused look at the car. But without an identified recording, its exact sound, setup, and recording conditions cannot be verified.
What is known about the GT3 RS engine?
Porsche specifies a naturally aspirated, dry-sump-lubricated 4.0-litre boxer engine for the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS. It produces 386 kW (525 PS) at 8,500 rpm and 465 Nm at 6,300 rpm, and Porsche says it can rev to 9,000 rpm. The individual throttle valves and high engine-speed capability help explain why revs are central to the car’s character; they do not establish what any particular recording sounds like. Does the Manthey Kit change the engine sound?
Porsche’s 22 November 2024 announcement describes the Manthey Kit as a track-performance package focused on aerodynamics, modified suspension, and optimized braking components. It does not say that the kit increases engine output or modifies the engine. On the available evidence, the “extreme” sound framing belongs to the GT3 RS’s high-revving engine, not to a documented engine upgrade from Manthey. Porsche’s Manthey Kit announcement.
What does the available evidence say about track performance?
The development account and lap-time record describe different moments in the kit’s timeline. In November 2024, Porsche said the kit had been developed over two years and tested for several thousand kilometres on European racetracks and the Nürburgring Nordschleife. At that point, weather had prevented an official Nordschleife lap.

Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH, said: “Our data promises a significant improvement in lap times compared to the standard 911 GT3 RS. So far, weather conditions have prevented us from achieving an official lap time on the Nordschleife. We want to make up for this at the next possible opportunity.”
A later Nürburgring record listing reports a 6:45.389 lap for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey Kit, driven by Jörg Bergmeister on 15 April 2026. That result updates the lap-time status after the 2024 announcement; it is not a measurement of the car’s sound.
