Check warranty coverage before paying

Replacement battery warranty depends on the part and installer
In the United States, the Lexus Genuine Parts warranty document says authorized-dealer-installed hybrid system high-voltage batteries—excluding commercial, fleet, or livery vehicles—are covered for 36 months regardless of mileage from installation, or for the remainder of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever provides greater coverage. The same document describes a 12-month Lexus Service Parts Limited Warranty for high-voltage batteries not installed by an authorized Lexus dealer. Independent suppliers may offer different coverage for different products. Ask for the warranty in writing, including its duration, mileage limit, exclusions, transferability, and responsibility for labor, shipping, and transport if the pack fails. A battery label or warranty length alone does not establish comparative reliability or service life.

Compare quotes on the same basis
Get estimates using the car’s exact model, model year, market, and VIN. Ask each provider to itemize the same cost and service components so the lowest headline price is not mistaken for the lowest completed-repair cost.
- Fitment: Confirm the pack matches the exact vehicle and battery configuration.
- Battery type and provenance: Identify whether the offer is for a new OEM part, a pack described as using new-generation cells, or a remanufactured pack. Do not infer performance or lifespan from the label.
- Installed total: Separate the pack, labor, diagnostic charges, taxes, shipping, and any core deposit or credit. Confirm whether installation is included and how a refundable deposit is returned.
- Warranty: Get the duration, mileage limits, exclusions, transferability, and coverage for labor or transport in writing.
- Service logistics: Ask whether installation is available locally or by mobile service, how long the repair takes, and how a failed core must be returned.
- Vehicle condition: Consider the whole car’s condition and how long you expect to keep it; the battery quote alone does not determine whether repairing the vehicle makes sense.
When requesting a quote, provide the VIN and ask the provider to state the battery type, installation scope, total due, core-deposit terms, and applicable warranty on the estimate.
