Lexus has announced a substantially updated 2027 NX with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, but the announcement does not confirm a U.S. Overtrail trim. Lexus USA lists Premium, Premium+, F SPORT, and Luxury; Overtrail is documented in other markets, not in the U.S. 2027 grade list. The new NX is expected in U.S. showrooms in winter 2026, with final pricing and a firm on-sale date still unannounced.
What’s new on the 2027 Lexus NX?
Announced September 1, 2026, the 2027 NX brings a refreshed equipment and technology package alongside updates to the chassis and driving controls. Lexus says the lineup will be fully electrified, with hybrid and plug-in hybrid choices. Its U.S. announcement names four grades: Premium, Premium+, F SPORT, and Luxury. The company expects availability across global markets by the end of 2026; Lexus USA’s model page says the vehicle is arriving in winter 2026. Neither source gives a firm U.S. sale date or final price. Lexus USA’s announcement and its 2027 NX model page provide the announced details.
Cabin technology and safety
A 14-inch Lexus Interface display is standard across all grades, according to Lexus. Sensory Concierge, which combines lighting, sound, and fragrance, is available on select grades. The 2027 NX is also announced with Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, which Lexus describes as offering enhanced detection, broader situational awareness, and expanded driver-assistance technologies. The announcement does not provide a feature-by-feature equipment breakdown by grade.
Chassis and driving updates
Lexus says it has revised the suspension, steering, accelerator, and braking systems, and increased chassis rigidity to improve driving dynamics. Those are manufacturer claims; no independent test or comparative measurements are available in the cited announcement.

Is the 2027 Lexus NX getting an Overtrail trim in the U.S.?
Not according to the U.S. grade list Lexus has announced. Premium, Premium+, F SPORT, and Luxury are the named choices, and Overtrail does not appear among them. That means a U.S. 2027 Overtrail should not be treated as confirmed.
Overtrail is a real NX grade in other market contexts. Lexus Europe announced an NX Overtrail in April 2024 with 18-inch matte-black wheels and all-terrain tires, 15 mm of additional ride height, black exterior details, and market-specific interior and paint choices. Lexus Japan also has an NX Overtrail feature page. These market-specific offerings establish that the name is used outside the U.S.; they do not establish U.S. availability or 2027 U.S. specifications. How far can the 2027 NX plug-in hybrid travel on electricity?
Lexus estimates more than 40 miles of electric range for select 2027 NX plug-in hybrid grades. This is a preliminary manufacturer estimate, not a final EPA rating; Lexus says official EPA figures will be available closer to the on-sale date. The announcement does not identify which grades receive that range estimate.
Lexus says DC fast-charging capability and a power charge-port door are standard on NX PHEV grades, but it has not provided charging-time figures. Buyers who need a precise range or charging comparison should wait for final EPA ratings and grade-specific specifications.

How does it compare with the 2026 NX?
The 2026 changes provide useful context, but they should not be mistaken for newly announced 2027 features. Lexus described the 2026 update as minor and made several equipment and availability adjustments. The 2026 model-year release lists the changes:
- Front-wheel drive became available on NX 350h models, in addition to all-wheel drive.
- F SPORT Handling became available on hybrid models.
- The plug-in hybrid gained a Premium grade.
- Dual-voltage charging cables were included with PHEV models.
For a useful comparison once 2027 specifications are finalized, check powertrain, grade-specific equipment, charging needs, confirmed rather than estimated electric range, and the eventual price and launch date. The announced 2027 information does not yet support a complete U.S. grade-by-grade comparison.

When does the 2027 Lexus NX go on sale, and how much will it cost?
Lexus USA currently says the 2027 NX is arriving in winter 2026. Lexus’s announcement separately says global-market availability is expected by the end of 2026. The official material cited here does not give a firm U.S. on-sale date or final U.S. pricing.
