Life Electric Vehicles (Life EV) completed its court-approved purchase of selected Rad Power Bikes assets on February 27, 2026. The widely reported $13.2 million figure is the cash consideration; the reported total purchase price, including liabilities, was $14,926,706—about $14.9 million. It was an asset acquisition through Rad Power Bikes’ Chapter 11 case, not a purchase of the former company in its entirety.
What happened to Rad Power Bikes?
Life EV acquired core Rad Power Bikes assets through a court-approved Section 363 bankruptcy sale. Life EV’s SEC offering statement says the acquisition closed on February 27, 2026. The court sale order was dated January 30, and the asset purchase agreement was dated January 22, according to that filing. Life EV’s SEC offering statement and Bicycle Retailer and Industry News’ transaction coverage describe the sale and its completion.
The distinction between the brand and the former operating company matters: the transaction transferred specified assets, not the entire former business or all of its obligations.
Why do reports cite both $13.2 million and $14.9 million?
The figures use different price bases. Bicycle Retailer and Industry News reported $13,276,102 in cash consideration and a total purchase price of $14,926,706 after accounting for liabilities. Life EV’s filing describes approximately $14.9 million in aggregate consideration, including consideration and specifically assumed obligations.

| Figure | What it represents | Source |
|---|---|---|
| $13,276,102 | Cash consideration | Bicycle Retailer and Industry News |
| $14,926,706 | Reported total purchase price after accounting for liabilities | Bicycle Retailer and Industry News |
| Approximately $14.9 million | Aggregate consideration, including consideration and specifically assumed obligations | Life EV SEC offering statement |
So the $13.2 million headline refers to the cash amount, while the broader reported transaction value is about $14.9 million. The latter does not mean Life EV assumed every liability of the former Rad business.
Which Rad assets did Life EV acquire?
Life EV’s SEC filing identifies several categories of acquired assets:
- The Rad Power Bikes brand and intellectual property.
- Inventory and operating infrastructure.
- The digital ecosystem and customer database.
The filing also reports approximately 1.5 million current and historical customers and approximately $1.2 billion in cumulative historical sales data associated with the prior Rad business. These are company-reported historical figures, not independently verified measures of Life EV’s results or current Rad performance. Life EV’s filing provides the figures.
What did Life EV say would continue?
Life EV said it would continue U.S. retail operations under the Rad Power Bikes brand and planned to expand the retail footprint in selected markets. The company also said it would support customers through post-closing programs, including honoring certain warranties and gift cards as provided under the asset purchase agreement. These are limited commitments: the available terms do not establish that every warranty, gift card, or other obligation from the former company transferred. Life EV’s statements on Rad operations describe the planned continuation and customer programs.

What are Life EV’s plans for assembly and operations?
Life EV described U.S.-based assembly through affiliated manufacturing and a Foreign Trade Zone structure as plans. It presented possible supply-chain, cost, quality, and unit-economics improvements as expectations dependent on execution, integration, facility ramp-up, liquidity, and other risks—not as results already achieved. The company’s SEC filing sets out the strategy and its execution risks.
Life EV describes a broader multi-brand, multi-channel electric-bike strategy. Its filing includes the core Rad assets, specified QuietKat assets acquired in June 2026, and an exclusive worldwide direct reseller relationship for Serial 1 electric bicycles beginning June 1, 2026. Historical Rad sales and customer data in the filing relate to the prior Rad business; they do not establish Life EV’s future performance.
What does the acquisition mean for Rad customers?
The brand and certain operating assets changed hands, and Life EV said U.S. retail operations would continue. The stated customer support is limited to programs described in the purchase agreement, including certain warranties and gift cards. The transaction information does not establish whether every historic customer account remains usable or provide a complete set of current service terms. Customers with a warranty, gift card, or account question should check the current Rad Power Bikes customer-service channels and their specific purchase or coverage documents.
