What the interview does—and does not—say about the race
The comments were made during race-week media coverage, not in a post-race interview. Hamilton spoke about grief, gratitude and receiving support; the available reports do not establish that Roscoe’s death affected his driving or race performance. ESPN’s October 2 coverage also describes the Singapore comments as focused on the response to Roscoe’s death.
