The retrofit mounts to the existing license-plate screws, so the advertised installation takes less than five minutes and does not require drilling or vehicle-battery wiring. It is primarily intended for vehicles whose backup camera sits above the plate.
What Lens Lizard does
The system combines a license-plate-mounted bracket with a washer-fluid reservoir, pump, nozzle and wireless button. Pressing the button sends a high-pressure jet over the backup-camera lens, clearing road spray, mud, salt and dust without getting out of the vehicle. Will it fit your car?
Use the camera’s position as the first compatibility check: Lens Lizard is designed for a rear camera mounted above the license plate. The company lists sedans, SUVs, trucks, vans and EVs among compatible vehicle types, but a model-by-model fit list should still be checked before ordering.

Situations that may need an adapter
- Recessed license plates or a body lip: the nozzle may need a standoff adapter to clear the surrounding trim.
- Some trucks: the product page says certain truck adapters are still in development.
- Front cameras: installation depends on the vehicle’s geometry and is not generally confirmed by the manufacturer.
Measure the space behind and above the plate, confirm that the jet can point at the lens, and do not assume a front-camera installation will work simply because the rear installation does.
Installation: the advertised five-minute procedure
- Remove the license plate.
- Place Lens Lizard over the existing plate screws.
- Reattach and tighten the plate with the unit in position.
- Aim the nozzle at the backup-camera lens.
- Press the wireless button and adjust the aim if the spray misses the lens.
Lens Lizard says this process takes under five minutes, uses no special tools and does not require drilling. Because the product is self-powered, it does not connect to the vehicle battery.

Power, fluid and routine maintenance
The homepage says two lithium AA batteries can last more than two years. The product page separately describes refilling and recharging approximately once per season, while the homepage says the fluid tank lasts more than three months depending on use. These are manufacturer estimates; actual intervals will vary with spray frequency, temperature and reservoir size.
- Use the recommended washer fluid rather than plain water when freezing temperatures are possible.
- Check the tank before long trips and after repeated sprays in dirty conditions.
- Replace or recharge the batteries when the pump or remote becomes intermittent.
- Keep the nozzle aimed at the camera and clear of dried mud or road salt.
Snow, freezing weather and car washes
Lens Lizard says it is intended for winter-grade washer fluid to prevent freezing, and describes the unit as waterproof, weatherproof and debris-proof. The company also says it was tested through two Vermont winters. Those statements are manufacturer claims, not independently published test results, so performance can depend on the fluid used, exposure and vehicle installation.

The manufacturer says the device is designed to pass through automatic car washes. Secure the license plate and mounting hardware before entering a wash, and follow the wash operator’s restrictions for exterior accessories. A high-pressure or brush system can still damage an incorrectly fitted or loose accessory.
