LCI Leveling System Troubleshooting: Quick Checks for Lippert Systems

Start LCI leveling troubleshooting by identifying the exact Lippert system and controller. Then use symptom-specific checks and the matching manual for errors, pump problems, or manual retraction.

If an LCI leveling system will not move, finish leveling, or clear an error, first identify the installed system and controller. Lippert has separate instructions for motorized hydraulic leveling, towable Level Up, Power Gear hydraulic leveling, and Power Gear electric leveling; a reset or override for one family may not apply to another. Start with the RV or trailer’s manual, then use the matching Lippert support page.

Identify the leveling system before troubleshooting

“LCI leveling system” can refer to different Lippert system families. Check the RV or trailer documentation and controller labels to determine whether the system is hydraulic or electric, whether it is designed for a motorized RV or towable trailer, and which controller is installed. Lippert’s support library provides distinct manuals and troubleshooting resources for these systems.

Use the manual for the installed system before attempting a reset, calibration, manual retraction, or component replacement. Procedures and parts are not necessarily interchangeable between system families.

What to check for common symptoms

No response or a “LOW VOLTAGE” message

For the towable hydraulic Level Up system, Lippert’s troubleshooting handout identifies wiring or connection problems and a discharged or faulty battery as possible causes of a low-voltage message. It directs owners to inspect wiring and connections and test battery voltage under load. This guidance applies to that Level Up context; it is not a universal voltage threshold or diagnosis for every LCI system.

Lippert Ground Control TT 5-Point Automatic Leveling System 672136
  • TIME-SAVING — In under three minutes, Ground Control TT will level and stabilize your travel, so you can have more time to enjoy your camping experience
  • INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY — Engineered with Hall Effect technology that delivers more accurate, precise leveling for your RV, and it’s compatible with OneControl Technology

  • FULLY EQUIPPED — This system comes complete with all mounting and installation hardware needed for an easy, bolt-on install with no welding required
  • TOUCHPAD CONTROL — The 5-point system includes our touchpad controller that can be wall-mounted for easy operation

A multimeter can support a voltage check called for by the system’s manual, but it does not diagnose the leveling system by itself. If you are unsure how to make an electrical measurement safely, have an RV technician perform it.

“JACK TIME OUT” or leveling stops before completion

For towable hydraulic Level Up, Lippert uses “JACK TIME OUT” for a system that did not level within the expected time. Its handout lists obstructions, hydraulic leaks, fluid level, and voltage to the power unit motor under load as checks. Look for an obstruction and visible leaks, and consult the correct manual for fluid and electrical checks. Have a qualified RV technician handle hydraulic leaks or electrical testing beyond your experience.

The hydraulic pump does not run

A pump that does not run calls for the test procedure for the exact installed system. Lippert provides separate technical material for hydraulic leveling tests and pump or dual-polarity-solenoid diagnosis through its support library. Do not apply a procedure for another system or improvise electrical tests at the pump.

One jack moves differently from the others

First establish whether the system is hydraulic or electric, then consult that system’s component and troubleshooting documents. Power Gear electric leveling has its own controller troubleshooting and error-reset materials; hydraulic systems require their own diagnostic references. A symptom that looks similar may not have the same cause or repair across those designs.

Manual retraction, resets, and calibration

Manual retraction or override is a recovery procedure, not a universal quick fix. Use only the instructions for the installed system. Lippert’s support materials separate manual-override and pump-diagnosis documents for different leveling families. Likewise, use the model-specific calibration or controller troubleshooting instructions when leveling repeatedly fails or an error returns; do not assume a reset will correct an underlying electrical or hydraulic fault.

For current manuals, troubleshooting documents, and component references, select the system that matches the RV or trailer in Lippert’s support library. The document listings and component availability can change, so verify that the instructions match the installed model.

When to stop and get service

  • A hydraulic leak is visible, or fluid is escaping.
  • The pump, wiring, or solenoid requires testing you are not equipped or qualified to perform.
  • The system remains inoperable after checks that the matching manual says an owner can safely perform.
  • You cannot confirm the system family or find a procedure that clearly matches the installed controller and components.

Give the technician the displayed error, the system and controller identification, and what the jacks did or did not do. That information helps keep diagnosis tied to the correct system.
