The LAMTTO RC37 can add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to an older car without replacing its factory stereo—but whether it is a sensible fit depends on where its large 11-inch screen can sit, how your stereo accepts audio, and whether you want to wire the included rear camera. Macworld’s October 2, 2026 review found setup quick in one 2008 Renault Kangoo, but also found the suction-mounted display shifted when touched and could obstruct the view. Those cabin-fit trade-offs matter more than its broad “fits any car” marketing claim.
What the LAMTTO RC37 does
The RC37 is a portable display designed to provide wireless Apple CarPlay for iPhone and Android Auto for Android phones. It is not a replacement head unit: the screen mounts in the cabin, receives power from the vehicle’s 12V/24V accessory socket, and connects to a phone. LAMTTO lists an 11-inch touchscreen with 1280 × 800 resolution, GPS, voice control, AirPlay mirroring, OTA updates, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functions on its product page. Its claims of broad temperature tolerance and “no lag” are manufacturer claims, not independently established results.

The package is listed as including the display, a power-port cable with built-in FM antenna, 1.5-meter AUX cable, long-arm suction mount, adhesive base/mount, spare adhesive, adhesive disc, pry tool, four cable clips, and manual. LAMTTO’s support page has setup videos for Android, iPhone, AirPlay, FM, and rear-camera installation and configuration: RC37 support.

Do not assume that an 11-inch screen will work in every cabin. In the Macworld review, Peter Müller found it difficult to choose a place that kept the display reachable without obstructing the view. His windshield suction mount gave way when he touched the screen. A dashboard adhesive mount may be steadier, but only if there is a suitable, safe surface and the display remains accessible.

Before buying, use an 11-inch tablet or a similarly sized rectangle as a rough physical-size proxy. Check the driver’s sightline from the normal seating position, whether the controls remain reachable, and whether the mount has a stable surface. Keep the display clear of the windshield area that must remain unobstructed and of passenger-side airbag deployment space. The review does not establish fit or legal placement requirements for every vehicle or jurisdiction.
How does audio reach an older stereo?
LAMTTO advertises four audio paths: the display’s built-in speaker, an AUX cable, Bluetooth, or FM transmission. The useful choice depends on the stereo already in the car; the product page’s phrase “4 Audio Modes: Fits Any Car, Old or New” is marketing language, not proof of universal compatibility.

- AUX: Use the included 1.5-meter cable if the stereo has a 3.5-mm AUX input.
- Bluetooth: Use this if the car stereo can receive Bluetooth audio. The Macworld test vehicle had a retrofitted Bluetooth receiver, though it did not have AUX.
- FM transmission: The included power cable has an FM antenna. The reviewer found this less practical on the road because a clear frequency may not stay clear and can require readjustment.
- Built-in speaker: Audio can come from the screen itself, avoiding a stereo connection, though it will not use the car speakers.
Check the car stereo’s actual inputs and decide which route you would use before ordering; the display’s wireless phone connection does not by itself mean audio will play through the factory speakers.

LAMTTO’s support material directs users to phone-specific setup videos. Its FAQ says to use the supplied vehicle 12V/24V cigarette-lighter cable and cautions against low-voltage USB power sources. The basic sequence described in Macworld’s review was to power the screen, connect the iPhone, and launch CarPlay.

- Connect the supplied power cable to the RC37 and the vehicle’s 12V/24V accessory socket.
- Follow the appropriate Android Auto or wireless CarPlay video on the LAMTTO RC37 support page to pair the phone.
- Choose the audio route that works with your stereo—AUX, Bluetooth, FM—or use the screen’s speaker.
In the tested 2008 Renault Kangoo, Müller reported quick startup, phone reconnection, and resumption of the previous music after ignition. That is one reviewer’s experience in one car, not a compatibility survey or a guarantee of the same behavior in another vehicle.
What installing the rear camera involves
The reviewed system includes a rear camera, but automatic switching to its image when reverse is selected takes more than mounting the display. The camera needs to be fitted near the license plate, its cable routed through the vehicle, and a trigger wire connected to the positive terminal of the reverse lights. Cable routing must avoid interference with doors and windows. Müller considered professional installation; if you are not comfortable working around vehicle wiring or routing cable through the cabin, a qualified installer is a practical option.

How it performed in the review
Macworld’s October 2, 2026 review, translated and localized from sister publication Macwelt, describes use in a 2008 Renault Kangoo. Müller reported a bright screen, responsive operation, quick readiness after ignition, phone reconnection, and music resuming. The most significant drawback in that account was the physical installation: the large screen was awkward to position, and the windshield suction mount moved when touched. The review is a single-vehicle assessment rather than a controlled test across cars.

The review also noted pre-installed Netflix, TikTok, and YouTube apps. Video is for a parked vehicle, not a feature to use while driving; the reviewer discourages watching even as a front passenger.

Price and verdict
Macworld reported a price of $139.99 on October 2, 2026. LAMTTO’s captured product-page result also displayed $139.99 as a sale price. These are dated snapshots, not a promise of today’s price, bundle, or regional availability.
Müller’s conclusion was: “Anyone looking to retrofit an older vehicle with CarPlay and who has sufficient space in the cockpit will find the Lamtto Car Infotainment System to be a solution featuring a large screen, flexible audio output and, as a bonus, a back camera.” For a buyer, the key condition is sufficient safe mounting space: verify that first, then confirm a workable audio connection and decide whether the camera wiring is a project you want to take on. The RC37 is a plausible portable retrofit for those conditions, not a guaranteed fit for every old car.
