There is no supported current top-ten ranking of the sports cars that lose the most value after five years. iSeeCars’ 2026 study ranks vehicles overall, not sports cars alone; its sports-car examples appear in the lowest-depreciation group. A separate 2021 table lists nine sports-car entries, but it is historical—not a current top ten.
What current data says about sports-car depreciation
iSeeCars analyzed more than 950,000 five-year-old used cars sold in the United States from March 2025 through February 2026. Its 2026 study estimates average five-year depreciation across that overall sample at 41.8%, a 3.8 percentage-point improvement over 2025. That figure is a broad benchmark, not a sports-car average or a prediction for any one model. See iSeeCars’ 2026 study and methodology.

The study’s highest-depreciation ranking covers vehicles across categories. It is led by the Nissan LEAF at 63.1%, followed by the INFINITI QX80 at 62.8%, Volkswagen ID.4 at 62.1%, Tesla Model S at 62.0%, and Land Rover Range Rover at 61.7%. Those overall results cannot be presented as a sports-car ranking.

In the same study, the sports cars listed instead appear among the lowest-depreciating models: Porsche 718 Cayman (9.6%), Porsche 911 (11.1%), Chevrolet Corvette (18.7%), Subaru BRZ (23.7%), Toyota GR Supra (24.0%), and Mazda MX-5 Miata/MX-5 Miata RF (31.5%). These are study estimates, not guarantees of what a particular owner will recover at resale.

A historical sports-car comparison—not a current top ten
A 2021 reproduction of iSeeCars study material gives a nine-entry sports-car table, ordered from lower to higher average five-year depreciation. Its segment average was 24.7%. The values are useful as dated historical context, but they do not establish which cars depreciate most today. Read the 2021 reproduction.

Because this table has nine entries and dates to 2021, its last row is not a tenth-worst car, and the table should not be treated as a present-day ranking.

How to interpret a five-year depreciation figure
In its 2026 study, iSeeCars mathematically modeled the difference between average used-car asking prices and MSRP, with MSRP adjusted for inflation to 2026 dollars using U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The estimates therefore compare modeled market values with inflation-adjusted sticker prices; they do not measure an individual owner’s purchase price against the amount received in a completed sale.

- Percentage loss and dollar loss answer different questions. A percentage shows the share of value lost; a dollar figure shows the estimated amount. A more expensive car can lose more dollars while retaining a larger share of its value.
- A market average is not a personal forecast. Trim, mileage, condition, location, purchase price, and timing can affect an individual result. The cited rankings do not control for every such factor in a way that predicts your car’s resale value.
- Compare like with like. Check the study period, segment definition, MSRP baseline, and whether the used value is an asking price or completed sale price before comparing figures from different sources.
iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer described the fall in its overall five-year depreciation rates as suggesting “rising used car demand and/or insufficient supply over the past 12 months.” That observation concerns the study’s broad market finding; it does not identify a cause for any one sports car’s value change.
