Which 2026 Subaru SUV is the smallest?
The Crosstrek is the shortest confirmed model at 176.4 inches. It is 7.1 inches shorter than the Forester using the headline figures, making it the easiest Subaru SUV in this list to fit into a short garage or compact parking space. Its width and height still depend on trim, especially the wider and taller Wilderness configuration.

Which Subaru SUV is the longest?
The Ascent is the longest confirmed 2026 Subaru SUV at 196.8 inches. It is 5.1 inches longer than the Outback and also the only model in this ranking with three rows, seating up to eight people. The extra exterior length is therefore tied to passenger capacity, not simply a larger two-row cargo area.

Forester versus Solterra
The Forester measures 183.3 inches for most listed trims, while the Solterra is 184.6 inches. The 1.3-inch difference is smaller than many parking-space tolerances, so width, turning space, powertrain and interior layout may matter more than length when choosing between them.

Trailseeker versus Outback
The Trailseeker is 190.8 inches long and the Outback is 191.7 inches. The Outback is therefore only 0.9 inch longer on Subaru’s published figures, although it is wider and taller in the listed standard dimensions and has a different gasoline-versus-electric use case.
How to use the dimensions when choosing a model
Parking and garage fit
- Use overall length to check front-to-back clearance, including room to close a garage door and walk around the vehicle.
- Use width for narrow garages, pillars and adjacent vehicles. The published figures do not establish every model’s mirror-to-mirror width, so allow additional clearance for mirrors.
- Use height to check the garage opening, lift mechanisms, overhead storage and roof accessories. Roof rails, crossbars and cargo carriers can add height.
Passenger and cargo needs
Length alone does not determine usable space. Subaru’s comparison pages frame seating, parking footprint and cargo capacity as separate decision points. The Ascent seats up to eight, while the Outback seats up to five; a shorter vehicle can therefore be the better choice if maneuverability matters, while the Ascent is the clear fit for larger families.

Gasoline SUV or electric SUV
The Solterra and Trailseeker are electric SUVs, so compare charging access, driving range and load requirements alongside their exterior measurements. Their similar widths (73.2 inches) do not make them interchangeable: body design, seating and powertrain packaging affect how each works for your routine.

Before you decide based on size
- Measure the actual garage or parking bay, including door, pillar and walking clearance.
- Compare the exact trim: Crosstrek, Forester and Outback figures vary by version, and Wilderness models can be wider or taller.
- Check roof-rail type, crossbar fit and rated load before adding a roof box or other carrier. The 2026 Forester brochure documents trim-dependent crossbar capacity; do not assume the same hardware or limit applies to another Subaru.
