By July 2026, Lamborghini executives were discussing a possible plug-in hybrid Lanzador near the end of the decade, but had not confirmed production specifications or an on-sale date. The Lanzador shown in 2023 was a concept, not a sale-ready car.
Is the Lamborghini Lanzador still coming out in 2029?
There is no confirmed 2029 launch for a production Lanzador EV. Lamborghini unveiled the all-electric concept on August 18, 2023, and at the time said a series-production model was expected from 2028. In February 2026, electrive reported that CEO Stephan Winkelmann said the battery-electric Lanzador would not enter production. In July 2026, Electrek reported that product director Stefano Cossalter described a possible plug-in hybrid Lanzador, likely near the end of the decade. That is a reported possibility, not a confirmed retail model or firm launch schedule.
A separate Lamborghini environmental statement published in 2024 said a fully electric Super SUV would join the range in 2029. That statement concerned a Super SUV, not a confirmed 2029 Lanzador. The distinction helps explain why the year has been associated with the concept.
What was the 2023 Lanzador concept?
Lamborghini presented the Lanzador at Monterey Car Week as a high-ground-clearance 2+2 Gran Turismo and a preview of a future fourth series-production model. The concept aimed to combine sports-car proportions with a raised driving position and flexible rear seating and cargo space. Its described layout included a short front trunk, a large glass tailgate, adjustable rear seats and a variable rear luggage area. Those are concept details, not confirmed features for a production successor.

The company called it an “Ultra GT.” The concept also featured active aerodynamic elements at the front and rear, rear-wheel steering, air suspension and interior materials Lamborghini characterized as sustainable, including Merino wool, regenerated nylon partly made from recovered plastic, and recycled or 3D-printed materials. None of these descriptions establishes the specifications of a future production car.
What power and performance did Lamborghini announce?
The concept had one electric motor on each axle, all-wheel drive and active rear-axle e-torque vectoring. Lamborghini said its peak power exceeded one megawatt. That is a concept figure—not a final production rating or a verified performance result—and the announcement did not translate it into a production horsepower figure.

Lamborghini did not publish a certified range, battery capacity, charging rate or price for the concept. With the planned battery-electric production version reportedly cancelled, there are no established production figures to use for range, charging or performance. Any figures for a possible plug-in hybrid successor remain unconfirmed in the cited reporting.

Winkelmann’s comments, as quoted by electrive, put the shift in customer and market context: “For the foreseeable future, only PHEVs. We will continue to develop electrification because we also need to be ready.” Cossalter told Electrek: “There was little to no acceptance by our customers. There was no interest; they were not willing to buy an electric car.” These are attributed quotations in the respective reports, not independently verified transcripts.

What is not known about a production Lanzador?
The reviewed official announcement and later reporting do not establish a production price, homologated range, battery capacity, charging time, final dimensions, final power output, order process, launch date or delivery schedule. Nor do they establish that Lamborghini will sell a plug-in hybrid under the Lanzador name. Until the company confirms a production model and its specifications, treat the 2023 concept’s design and power figures as concept information, not a buying guide.
