Did Lamborghini cancel the Lanzador?
Lamborghini has shelved the plan for a battery-electric production model previewed by the Lanzador concept, according to reports published on February 23, 2026. The reports describe a change in the company’s intended fourth model line: it is now planned as a plug-in hybrid rather than a fully electric vehicle.
That does not mean a Lanzador production car was already on sale and has been withdrawn. Lamborghini unveiled the Lanzador in 2023 as a concept preview of a future electric GT 2+2. Its original announcement said production was planned for 2028, but that was a historical target, not confirmation that the car remains scheduled. Lamborghini’s 2023 announcement

Why is Lamborghini moving away from a fully electric model?
Lamborghini’s stated explanation was specific to its luxury super-sports segment. In a company statement reproduced by Auto Express, Lamborghini said its analysis and discussions with dealers and customers indicated that adoption of pure battery-electric vehicles had slowed considerably and demand in the segment remained very limited. electrive also reported comments from CEO Stephan Winkelmann about the emotional character customers expect from a Lamborghini, including engine sound and feel. The reported intention is for the planned fourth model line to use plug-in-hybrid power. That does not confirm that the Lanzador concept itself will be converted into a hybrid production car, or that the future vehicle will retain the Lanzador name. The sources do not establish production specifications, performance, range, price or a launch date.
