Kubota’s U.S. brochure lists a 999 lb payload capacity, a separate 441 lb cargo-bed load limit and a maximum rolling weight/towing capacity of 1,102 lb. Those are brochure-published figures, not interchangeable ratings. Although it was once marketed as a new model, current availability is not established; check with a local authorized Kubota dealer before planning a purchase.
What is the Kubota RTV400Ci?
Kubota positioned the RTV400Ci for light utility work such as surveying property or a jobsite, caring for livestock and hunting. It is a gasoline model, distinct from Kubota’s diesel RTV-X vehicles. The U.S. product sheet highlights electronic fuel injection (EFI), selectable four-wheel drive and the CVT Plus transmission. How to interpret its capacity ratings
The three load-related figures describe different measures. The 999 lb payload capacity is not the cargo-bed limit: Kubota lists the bed’s load separately at 441 lb. The 1,102 lb figure is labeled maximum rolling weight (towing capacity) in the brochure. Do not treat it as a trailer tongue-load rating or combine these figures as though they were one allowance. Follow the unit’s operator documentation and any labels for the specific vehicle when loading or towing.
Transmission, traction and equipment
Kubota describes CVT Plus as a continuously variable transmission with an inertial clutch. The product sheet says the clutch keeps the double cogged belts tight to reduce slippage and improve response and durability compared with competitors’ belt-drive systems; that is Kubota’s comparative product claim, not independently verified testing. The same sheet says the clutch provides dynamic braking and describes a full protection cover intended to reduce mud and dust intrusion.

The U.S. product sheet depicts a standard rollover protective structure (ROPS) and mentions four-wheel disc brakes. Equipment can vary by model year and market, so confirm what is fitted to a particular used RTV400Ci rather than assuming the brochure’s configuration applies.
Will it fit your property or work area?
At 54.7 inches wide and 105.9 inches long in the U.S. brochure, the RTV400Ci’s dimensions are useful for checking gates, trails, storage and trailer space. Its listed 22.4-foot turning diameter also matters when maneuvering in confined areas. Measure the actual route and storage opening, and allow for attachments or other equipment that may change the vehicle’s footprint.

Is the RTV400Ci still available new?
Current new-unit availability is not confirmed by the cited Kubota material. Kubota’s current U.S. utility-vehicle category text does not list the RTV400Ci, while its global utility-vehicle page cautions that availability and specifications vary by country or region. The U.S. brochure is from 2019, so its appearance online does not establish that new units are currently sold. Ask an authorized local dealer about new inventory, used vehicles, parts and service for your market.

Why European figures may differ
Kubota Europe’s archived RTV400Ci page describes a 404 cc entry-level vehicle with two seats and a 480 kg load-capacity claim. A separate current European RTV400 page lists a 404 cm³ gasoline engine, EFI, CVT Plus, four-wheel drive and differential locks, and gives maximum horsepower as 15.5 PS. These are regional product-page figures with different units and power-rating presentation from the U.S. brochure. They should not be combined into a single specification set or used to overwrite the U.S. ratings.

What to check when evaluating one
- Confirm the model year, market version and equipment on the vehicle itself; brochure specifications may not cover every year or configuration.
- Compare the intended load with the vehicle’s applicable payload and cargo-bed limits, and verify towing guidance in the unit’s documentation.
- Measure access and storage locations against the actual vehicle, especially where width is tight.
- If replacing tires, use the listed 24 × 9-12 front and 24 × 11-12 rear sizes only as a starting point. Check the tire type (ATV or HDWS), load rating and wheel fit for that unit; a size match alone does not establish compatibility.
- Ask a local authorized dealer about availability, parts and service, since those details are market-specific.
