If your Komaki XR1 will not charge, begin with external, low-risk checks: switch the scooter off, verify the wall outlet, inspect the supplied charger and charging connection, let the scooter cool, and charge in a dry, ventilated place. Use only the charger supplied with the vehicle unless Komaki or the selling dealer confirms an exact replacement. Do not open the battery or charger, bypass protective electronics, or guess at a substitute from the model name.
What to check first
Work through the checks in this order so you do not turn a simple connection problem into a safety issue. You do not need to remove a cover, expose wiring, or measure live contacts for any of these steps.

- Switch the XR1 off. Leave the scooter powered down before connecting the charger.
- Confirm the outlet works. If it is safe, test the wall socket with a known-working appliance. Do not use a cracked, loose, wet or visibly damaged socket, and avoid relying on a questionable adapter or extension arrangement.
- Check the charger externally. Look over the plug, cable, charger body and accessible connector. Watch for cuts, crushed sections, bent parts, dirt, moisture or a connector that does not sit normally. Do not probe the contacts or force the plug.
- Check the scooter-side connection. Make sure the accessible charging connection is fully seated and free of visible moisture or debris. Stop if the port or plug appears damaged.
- Allow the scooter to cool. If you have just ridden, wait until the battery and surrounding area have cooled before charging.
- Use the supplied charger. Komaki’s general guidance says to plug the charger into the wall first and then connect it to the scooter. Follow that order rather than experimenting with another power supply.
- Observe what happens. Note whether the charger indicator lights, changes color, or remains dark, and whether the scooter shows any charging indication. These observations help a service team, but they do not by themselves prove which component has failed.
After reconnecting, give the system a short opportunity to begin charging while you remain nearby. If there is no sign of charging and the outlet and external connections look sound, stop repeating the connection cycle and arrange an assessment.

The XR1 product information identifies an NAGR battery but does not publish the charger’s voltage, current, connector specification or a charger part number. That missing information matters: a plug that fits physically can still be electrically unsuitable or unsafe. A marketplace listing described as an “XR1 charger” is not proof of compatibility.

For the same reason, do not infer compatibility from another Komaki model, a generic electric-scooter adapter, a battery listing, or a charger that has the same-looking connector. Ask Komaki or the authorized dealer to identify the correct part for your particular vehicle and battery. Before buying anything, have the exact part number and electrical ratings confirmed in writing, along with any effect on warranty or service support.
Charging conditions that can prevent a safe start
Heat after a ride
Komaki cautions against charging a hot battery. Park the scooter, switch it off and wait for it to cool naturally. Do not accelerate cooling with water, ice or other improvised methods. If the battery remains unusually hot after a reasonable cooldown, treat that as a reason to seek service rather than attempting another charge.
Moisture and ventilation
Charge in a dry, ventilated indoor area. Keep the scooter, charger and floor dry, and keep the charger clear of materials that could restrict airflow. If the scooter or connector has been exposed to rain, washing water or flooding, do not connect the charger until a qualified technician has assessed it; visible dryness does not establish that moisture has not reached an internal component.

A poor electrical connection
A loose wall plug, partially seated scooter connector, dirt or visible damage can interrupt charging. Only clean or reposition what you can access without disassembly and without inserting tools into the port. If the fit is abnormal, intermittent or requires force, stop using it.
How to interpret the charger light
Komaki’s general charging guidance says that most Komaki models show red while charging and green when full. The guidance reviewed for this issue does not confirm that exact behavior for the XR1. Therefore, a dark light, a red light that never changes, or a green light appearing immediately should be recorded as an observation—not treated as a definitive XR1 diagnostic code.
Write down the sequence you see: outlet connected or not, charger connected to the scooter or not, indicator color, any scooter display message, and whether the behavior changes after the scooter cools. Take a clear photograph of the charger label and connector if doing so is safe. Ask the dealer or Komaki support to explain the XR1’s documented indicator behavior rather than assuming another model’s pattern applies.

Stop immediately if you see a hazard
Disconnect power only if you can do so without touching a hot, damaged or wet component. Otherwise move away and obtain qualified help. Escalate immediately when any of these signs appears:
- Burning, acrid or electrical odor.
- Unusual or rapidly increasing heat from the charger, cable, connector, battery area or charging port.
- Smoke, sparking, swelling, discoloration, melting or charring.
- Visible cuts, crushed insulation, exposed conductors, cracked housings or damaged plugs.
- Water exposure, especially flooding or liquid entering the charger or charging port.
- A connector that is loose, distorted, stuck or must be forced into place.
Do not resume charging merely because an odor fades or a component cools. Keep the scooter away from combustible material and contact Komaki or an authorized dealer for instructions.
What not to do
- Do not open the battery pack or charger. Internal components can retain hazardous energy, and opening them can create additional risk and may affect warranty handling.
- Do not bypass a battery-management system. Do not bridge contacts, connect an external power source directly to the battery, or defeat a protection device.
- Do not test live wiring with improvised probes. External visual checks are the appropriate owner-level inspection described here.
- Do not force, file or modify a connector. A physical fit is not evidence of electrical compatibility.
- Do not substitute a generic charger. The XR1 charger’s voltage, current, connector and part number are not disclosed in the product information reviewed.
- Do not replace the battery based on an online listing. Battery identity, condition, compatibility, installation and warranty status must be confirmed by Komaki or the selling dealer.
When an external check is enough—and when it is not

How to request service from Komaki
If the outlet and external connections appear sound but charging does not begin, contact Komaki for a technical assessment. Komaki’s policy directs battery-related issues to customer support. For a vehicle bought from a dealer, the policy says to visit the authorized dealer where it was purchased for an initial assessment. Follow the route that matches your purchase channel instead of sending the battery to an unapproved repairer.

Describe the symptom precisely: whether the XR1 was recently ridden, whether it cooled, the outlet test result, the order in which you connected the charger, the indicator behavior, and any visible damage or moisture. Tell the representative if the charger, cable, port or battery area became hot or produced an odor. Do not conceal a water incident or physical damage; those facts affect safe handling.

Have the purchase invoice available. Komaki’s policy also refers to chassis, battery, motor and controller identifiers when information is needed for technical or warranty assessment. Photograph the labels without removing covers or disturbing wiring. Keep a record of the date of failure, approximate battery state if known, charging location, and every safe check already completed.

If Komaki identifies a replacement part
Only compare replacement chargers after Komaki or the dealer confirms the XR1 part number and specifications. Ask for:
- Exact voltage and current ratings and the required connector polarity.
- Confirmation that the charger is approved for your XR1 battery and revision.
- Whether installation or inspection must be performed by an authorized technician.
- Warranty implications, availability, delivery time and total installed cost.
- Instructions for handling and returning the failed charger or battery.
If those details are not confirmed, do not purchase. The absence of published XR1 charger specifications means a generic alternative cannot be responsibly recommended.
What to take to the appointment
- The XR1 and its supplied charger, if transporting both is safe.
- The invoice and any warranty or service correspondence.
- Photos of labels, connectors or damage taken before the problem worsened.
- The chassis, battery, motor and controller identifiers requested by Komaki.
- A concise timeline of the last successful charge, last ride, cooldown time and indicator behavior.
Do not keep attempting to charge a component that is hot, wet, damaged or producing an odor while waiting for the appointment. Ask the service channel how the scooter should be transported if the battery or charger shows a hazard sign.
The Bottom Line
Start with the outlet, power state, external connections, cooldown and supplied-charger sequence. Because Komaki does not publish the XR1 charger’s electrical specifications, do not guess at a replacement or open the battery. Any persistent failure—or any heat, moisture, damage or burning odor—calls for Komaki or an authorized-dealer assessment.
